HandBrake is an open-source, GPL-licensed, multiplatform, multithreaded video transcoder, available for MacOS X, Linux and Windows. It was originally made to transcode DVD-like files to something you could watch on your computer or iPod. The latest release allows you to convert almost any video format into an MP4, MKV, AVI or OGM. What I like about is its simple interface, the ability to transcode audio tracks using a different codecs for each and select chapters.
Other useful features include the ability to put your videos into a transcode queue and a build in iPod 5G support. Here are some screen shots.

It works great, but you have to have DVD decryption software like DVD43 to make copies of DVD's.

Hello,
I'm looking for a video transcoder capable to convert .WMV videos to XviD .AVIs and resize them (reduce resolution).
It seems that HB doesn't support .WMV as an input format. Maybe you know any tool, which can help?
Thank you in advance,
Dave
