Morning Pill makes you wish there were more females getting better exposure in rock today. Despite being thrown under "pop rock" Alexx Calise shows much more promise and creativity than most typical pop rock acts. Unlike most other acts considered "pop" in any sense, Calise writes her own music, which apparently explains the difference in sound compared to other typical acts. Some may say she's just your "run of the mill pretty face with a pretty voice but tries to sound tough with it", but Calise is anything but "run of the mill". She doesnt overtly rely on heavy guitar riffs (which is the tactic most pop acts who attempt to crossover into metal, punk, or grunge use) to make her sound powerful. She actually puts some aggression behind her vocals herself and also as a double whammy, she even plays those heavy guitar riffs. Your "run of the mill act" would be discovered by industries by playing an instrument and once they get signed, you dont see that instrument anymore. It is reported that Calise is doing "business deals", so lets hope she doesnt stray too far from herself. Morning Pill greatly shows Calise's intimacy with her music and what such a connection can yield.
