70s style couple that loves to make folk music together. Originally released almost a decade ago, (2003) Lindalou and Michael Ryge's Beginner's Luck only became available for download in Jamendo two years ago.

The album is a mixture of folk 70s rock and straight acoustic pop. It certainly makes you think of staying in some uphill grassland park somewhere, basking in the sun and enjoying nature.

The couple has been creating music together for over 30 years. Songs on Beginner's Luck talk about their adventures and reflect their love for each other as well as their love for life. It's an honest, feel good 60s-70s folk music that will make you wish it was the flower era once again.

Armed with guitars and flutes as well as sweet melodic vocals, couple Lindalou and Michael Ryge certainly makes for one great duo. Yes, it's obvious that they are stuck in the 70s in more ways than one, but as long as they make great music like this then there's really nothing to complain about.

The couple initially got together in 1973 in San Rafael High School in California. Armed with a guitar, Michael encourages Lindalou to learn the flute and basically sing with him. Pretty soon, they were writing songs together. The hookup led to them moving further North and starting a family together. The couple managed to raise their 2 sons while keeping their musical streak going. Lindalou and Michael continue to perform locally and have added the mandolin and the harmonica to their list of musical instruments.

Beginner's Luck is a set of 13 tracks that recount simple musings about life and love. It's a quiet, folksy, acoustic compilation that recounts the good life that they have lived so far. The title track "Beginner's Luck" is a personal favorite. It's the kind of track you play as you lounge on your favorite chair and think back about your life and family.

While all the other tracks have a similar feel, this is considered a strength of the album as opposed to a weakness. The familiarity of the subjects as well as the relaxing melodic pop that the couple creates is enough to make you love this album. Beginner's Luck is filled with simple yet instantly classic tracks that you'll probably be able to share with your future children.

    Hi Valerie,
We came across your nice review of our album "Beginner's Luck." We just wanted to thank you for taking the the time to write that and for helping us promote our music. We really appreciate it and we're so glad you've enjoyed our songs so much! We're trying to get some more recording done in our spare time. In the meantime, we wonder if you've listened to the clips of the rest of our album here: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/llmr . There are actually 17 tracks, but we could only post the 13 originals on Jamendo due to copyright laws. The album sounds much better when you listen to all the songs in the order they were recorded, as we put a lot of thought into the way the songs flowed from one to the next. That was the only drawback to posting on Jamendo! The songs aren't heard in the order they were recorded. Still it was worth it just to share our originals with people like you who would never have heard our songs otherwise.
Anyway, thanks again for listening and sharing our music.
Best wishes to you, Lindalou and Michael
