Brit pop music coming from a guy that sounds like a doppelganger for Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong. Demo from Moot is a straight pop album that sticks like gum on your shoes. No matter how much you scrape it off or try and get away from it, you know it’s just there. That sticky feeling stays, for a very, very long time.

Moot’s Demo is a compilation of 6 tracks that follow the pop song formula. Basically, it comes with a verse, chorus, bridge and a catchy melody; all this running for about 3 minutes or so, leaving you no room to get sick or bored of it. Pretty much a one man band, Moot is quite an instrumentalist. The singer can play piano, guitars, organ, bass and even the banjo and mandolin. The multi-instrumentalist admits to being influenced by a diverse group of artists including music greats like the The Beatles, AC/DC, Queen, Supergrass, Ash and Nirvana, to name a few.

Demo by Moot is a pop compilation that highlights what the artist does best, creating fun, lighthearted pop music that’s easy to listen to and love. Listening to his songs makes you feel as if you’ve heard it before, just like meeting someone for the first time yet feeling like you’ve known each other for years.

The artist adds in an easy and catchy melody to his simple lyrics, making it an overall, lovable album/demo. Listen to it a couple of times and pretty much you’ll start liking it for no particular reason, except the fact that it’s stuck in your head. Although the tracks are not particularly ground breaking and the vocals may not be suitable for everybody, Demo is quite good. Sure beats, listening to nothing on a relaxing and fun summer afternoon.
