Monk Turner + Fascinoma: In case of an emergency

EMERGENCY SONGS is a beautifully arranged, new concept album from Monk Turner and singer/lyricist Fascinoma (Allana Lin) from Los Angeles, California. Together they bring us 12 wonderful songs filled with a variety of musical flavors and lovely vocals that, even if the music itself gets a little rough, maintains its composure; a very character attribute that could turn to be a critical factor in surviving a major disaster (the theme of the album). The album itself is conceived to awake the imagination of its listeners through both song and story as a massive earthquake is heading straight for LA! And so the lyrics take us on a 35 minute journey through all the phases of the crisis, "from pre-quake boredom, to post-quake freeway BBQ".

Roskilde: The Experience 2008

Heard so much about Denmark's infamous music festival but simply too far away to witness it yourself? Now you can do this with Roskilde - The Experience 2008. These set of movies aim to bring the feel of the festival towards various audiences from across the globe.

Juanitos: Soul Africa

Juanitos first showed up on our blog all the way back in June 2009. And now with more of great albums under its belt (including over 400 concerts and hundreds of thousands of downloads – if not more) I thought it might be a right time for a little re-introduction; especially that after our crazy winter I’m sure we are all in need of some ‘summer night party’ sounds.

TapFish

How fun can it be to take care of a bunch of fishes? The fact is, it can be quite entertaining, not to mention addictive. TapFish is perfect for any person who has always dreamed of owning and taking care of a fish minus the manual cleaning of the tank and whatnot. The game instead, lets you take care of your own digital fishes right on your iPod device. It was developed by BayView Labs Inc. and it allows you to buy, sell, feed, and even breed your very own virtual fish. It's like carrying a pocket fish tank with you at all times! This is one of those games where you have to be dedicated in taking care of your pets, otherwise, you'll find them floating, bottoms up, in the water. Give this cool game a download right now.

Snowstar Records Compilation

Snowstar Records is a Dutch indie label that has been releasing some of the best new bands in their part of the globe since 2003. Several bands that belong in the label's lineup include I am Oak , The Subhuman, The Secret Love Parade and Grapes of Grain, just to name a few. To celebrate their 15th release, the label decided to compile some of the best tracks from their roster into one great thank-you album for their fans and supporters. The Snowstar Records Compilation features 10 cool tracks that hint at indie, folk, rock and even instrumental music.

Bicentennial Curious

Bicentennial Curious is a third in line short, from director Jared Varava, following the releases of The Fourth and The Shadow Effect. But Bicentennial Curious differs from the previous creations in that it is not only a short but a masterfully written and directed mockumentary about a - porn industry. The movie centers around Mick Jones (played by Jon Gries - Napoleon Dynamite and Real Genius), a leader of an adult film company who is romanticizing his 'art' through creating, what in his mind is, a 'socially relevant' soft-core pornography - "The fact of a matter is that I don't make movies about wizards and magical forces, I make real films, real films about real tangible things (...) like love, religion, the national deficit."

Sleeping Sky: Remind the Past

Acoustic folk pop duo that makes you want to grab your pillow or cuddle up to the nearest couch. Sleeping Sky is a German based folk duo comprised of Desiree on vocals and Corinna on guitars. The duo creates dreamy and relaxing acoustic pop that will surely make you melt. Remind the Past is the duo's third release.

Shoot First

Described as an "co-op action roguelike" game, Shoot First, is a mix of Roguelike elements, retro graphics and RPG systems. As weird as this combination may sound, it's actually works great. Of course, instead of the typical sword and shield in RPG systems, you will be packing an automatic instead. Developed by Teknopants, the game allows you to play single or cooperative missions. Go on two player mode and fight off monsters, quests, score some loot and save a couple of trapped people in the process. This game certainly knows how to fuse weird elements together and make it work. If you play the game, expect a lot of dungeon crawling and monster killing goodness coming your way.

Cloud: Elephant Era

There's not much you can find about Cloud online. The thing is, Cloud is actually the artist name for New Yorker, Tyler Taormina. He's an up and coming musician that creates wonderful and enchanting music simply by singing and playing drums & piano simultaneously. This talented, young singer may not be a big name yet, but just by listening to his debut record; he's definitely got something up his sleeve. The compilation is composed of 11 tracks that incorporate indie pop rock and a hint of 80s synth sound. The record easily captures raw emotions and fleeting circumstances. Perfect for quiet moments or times when you just want to take a breather from everything around you. This is a nice album that's worth looking into. Go ahead, take a listen and fall in love with this artists' sound.
