Looking up to such great groups as the Wu-tang Clan, Task Force and Jurassic 5 just to name a few, The Brainstormers have got big shoes to fill if they’re up for it. However, the five man crew seems set in making a mark of their own in the rap scene.

Produced by DUB MD Promotions and Praverb The Wyze, this is the first EP for the group and so far it’s gaining good ground in the indie hiphop scene. The record showcases and highlights the crew and delights the listeners with several prominent guests. Something you’ll hardly see in a debut EP.

Perhaps one of the biggest strengths for this record is that the group managed to snag plenty of cool guests. Appearances by artists like Crooked I, Skyzoo, and Hell Razah add a good amount of interest and variety on the EP.

Righteous Soldiers features Sunz of Man member, Hell Razah. It beautifully weaves his vocals along with a lovely low-key vibe. For some reason, the song is relaxing to listen to and reflect on. The song only runs for about 3 minutes, which is a bit short but enough to anchor you in. Meanwhile, opener, By All Means, provides the crew some time to shine in their EP. The song hints a smooth R&B vibe but really doesn’t take you there and focuses instead on the member’s rap skills. Although the song isn’t instantly memorable, it does have a feel-good, lie-down-take-a-breather feel that is easy to play in the background on your down time.

Overall, the record is okay. It has some good points but it’s not the type that imprints itself in your brain. There’s no doubt that the members are talented but it’s hard not to love the EP for the guests instead of the members simply because there’s very little chance for each of the crew to shine. Nevertheless, even though it might not blow your mind, it’s still a good record to listen to.
