TagScanner is a free Windows application for managing and organizing the music files on your computer. All popular audio formats like mp3, wav, flac, mpeg4, wma and many others are supported. You can use the software to rename files and perform a variety of transformations using text from filenames and tags. This application was created by X Development.

TagScanner also lets you retrieve album information using a variety of online databases such as Amazon or feedb. If you’re worried about tag support there is no need to since the program supports tags for MP4 (iTunes), Windows Media, Vorbis comments and many others.

Not only is TagScanner a flexible TAG editor, but it is also powerful and capable of performing a variety of batch functions. It comes with complete playlist editor/creator and you can even export playlists to Excel and HTML for additional editing or use in another program.

Renaming files is also easy and you can see the names of your files as the names are being changed, and there is also a built-in music player. This is a nice feature so when you create or edit a playlist you can listen to it without having to open another media player.

TagScanner has a lot of features but fortunately the interface is intuitive so you won’t have any problems understanding how it works. Unlike other free music management editors, it is capable of editing multiple files and of collecting information from files and folder names.

TagScanner also lets you format tag fields and rearrange them, and replacement of words is supported. You can also change cases for as many songs as you want.
