BlueGriffon is a WYSIWYG content web editor. Developed by Daniel Glazman, the program runs on the Mac, Linux and Windows and is perfect for editing web pages so they conform with the newest standards. While it is packed with a lot of features, it’s simple enough for beginners to use.

You will immediately notice that BlueGriffon is very intuitive, perfect for beginners, but there are many features that advanced users will find useful, and the user interface makes it easy to create websites even if you don’t have any technical knowledge about web standards.

With BlueGriffon you’ll be able to edit and create pages based on the XHTML 5, HTML 5, XHTML 1.1 and HTML 4 standards. In addition, the program supports CSS 2.1 and CSS 3 as implemented by Gecko, and it also comes with SVG-edit, an XUL-based editor. The real strength of the program though, is the ease with which you can create HTML documents. Unlike other web editors, BlueGriffon is capable of handling a web page that you made using another format.

Among its most important features is allowing you to embed audio and video directly, a very useful feature, and there’s support for forms in HTML 5 form dialogs. There are many other features available such as sections, headers, footers and more. These features are available in a dropdown menu so adding these elements is easy.

Other features like tables and dialogs are well implemented. As functional as BlueGriffon is, you can extend its power even more with add-ins, many of which are free.
