Mouse without Borders was developed by Microsoft’s Garage Project. This free Windows utility allows you to sync up to four PCs, all so you can drag and share files in a single environment. In other words, you get to use up to four PCs as though it was one, and the utility is only 1.1 MB.

Once you download the program it will ask if the utility had been installed in your other PC. Just answer yes or no, and then note the security code that will be given you as you download the program to the computers you want to synchronize. Make sure that all the linked computers are on the same network.

You can use either a local Wi-Fi or Ethernet and once that’s done, you’re good to go. You just check or uncheck the synced PCs to lock and unlock them. There is also an ‘Other Options’ tab where you can adjust a few other settings, although the utility works fine on the default setup.

Mouse without Borders works without a hitch on Windows machines, and it can be very useful. For instance you can use it for multitasking between two PCs, such as when you’re testing computers and taking down notes. Artists will also find this utility useful as they usually work on several computers too.

One of the best features of Mouse without Borders is the ability to drag and drop files from one computer to another. This is a very convenient feature and definitely makes a huge difference when you’re working with a lot of computer files.
