Moments by Facebook is a photo organizer app that takes all the photos on your mobile device and categorizes them by where and when they were shot, and also by who appears on them. There are a lot of photo organizing apps, but Moments is especially effective because of its facial recognition technology that simplifies tagging. And soon enough you will be using it as well.

If Moments incorrectly tags a person, you can remove it and place the correct person there. By default all the photos on Moments are private, and there’s a security code that will be sent to your mobile phone when you register, so that should put security concerns at ease. Even those photos you sync with friends remain private unless you change the setting to public.

When you type someone’s name in the search box, every picture that has been tagged with the individual appears, and you can like these and placed in a category of images you like. You can also add comments to the images, and you have the option to forward and share these images by messenger, email or any other app that is compatible.

Moments also compresses the images so they’re faster to share, a nice feature if you have a slow connection. It doesn’t have any editing features yet and you cannot add frames, but that is to be expected given this is more of a photo organizer than a photo editor.

If you’re not into viewing very high resolution images on Facebook and just want an easy way to share images with your friends, Moments could be what you are looking for.
