If you like tales of horror, suspense and mysteries, you may want to check out Hooked, which delivers the stories in chat form. Published by Telepathic, it comes in two versions, free and paid subscription. The free version gives you access to one story a day. You can then use the free app to check if the stories are to your liking.
Rather than read a lengthy novel, the stories are presented as chat or text conversation. The app has links to the story of the day, the top stories and there’s an option to write your own tale. You can also post comments for the story you just read and share it on social media.
The chat conversation form may take a bit of getting used to, but it’s perfect if you don’t have the time to read an entire book. Since they’re in chat form, it’s easy to pick up from where you left off. There’s good spacing so you don’t have to strain your eyes while reading.
There’s not a lot you need to do with the app but read the stories, and they’re good. Most can be completed in just a few minutes, and there’s something delightful about trying to decipher that mysterious message.
While many stories are of the scary thriller type, some have touches of sci-fi and other genres. If you love to chat and short stories, Hooked might get you, well, hooked.
