Formed in 2010, Pet Milk is a Pennsylvania band that’s fairly new in the scene but it seems they already found a good niche.

Philadephia Punklife is far from a punk EP you would expect; instead it’s filled with sweet pop rock that’s fitted for some feel-good movie. It contains only four tracks but it does the trick if you’re trying to decide whether this band will make it to your personal playlist.

This is the second release for the crew. Their first record was a Demo back in 2010 and their most recent release is a live single titled, Don’t Get Out.

Subtle and sweet, this indie shoegaze pop album seems tailor made for fun summer days. Philadephia Punklife starts with the uptempo Phantom Lovers. Even though you can hardly make out the vocals, the beat is catchy and easily gives off a pleasant mood.

Meanwhile, I Don’t Love Anyone is a mild Bikini Kill-inspired cut. The sugary vocals and fun beat makes the song an easy favorite. You’ll find yourself bobbing your head easily. Christian Solicitors employ a more new wave touch but still carries that same undefined vocals which seem to sink deep into the instruments.

Finally, the EP is finished off with Husker Dudes. It’s one of the most catchy cuts on the EP. Involving a more punk rock mix compared to the others, the male vocals make an appearance and the guitar riffs in the back ground solidify the track.

These songs seem made for teens and the perennial fun times as well as romance that seem to be so magical at this age. It’s a nice little getaway compilation if you like saccharine shoegaze pop rock. Take a listen and grab the free download.

If your’e in the mood for some hazy, garage rock and saccharine pop, then High Pop is the band you should be listening to.

After a successful run with their previous record, Hip Hip Hooray delivers the same sweet and intoxicating punk fuzz pop they’ve come to master. Treading this route the second time around has its benefits though, the band sounds more polished than ever and seem more comfortable with their chosen genre.

Be prepared for track after track of energy filled, freaky indie rock mixed with a whole lot of sugary pop when you listen to this record.

Hip Hip Hooray is like a long lost cassette or record you discover one lazy summer afternoon. The more you listen to the album, the easier it is to get lost in the mood and imagery painted by the music.

Kickstarting this love affair is the fuzzy indie folk pop number, Loner. It’s a track that maintains the right amount of lo-fi dirty guitars, warbled vocals and catchy harmony to mimic how it feels like to look through a kaleidoscope of colorful beauty.

Each track resonates with a lo-fi appeal that’s highlighted by the beautiful harmonies High Pop creates even with just simple instruments. A few cuts worth noting include Crawl, I Like the Smell, Sparkler as well as the grungy, Fast Kids.

Personally, the album is refreshing. It’s hard not to compare it to a soundtrack in a Sofia Coppola film; beautiful, ethereal and all that indie lo-fi goodness rolled into one.

If you have a soft spot for this type of music then don’t skip out on this one. The album is worth checking out and downloading, no doubt about it.

For the last two years, the Aaahh Record’s crew gathered up several musicians and holed up in a small village called Bralitz (somewhere near Berlin.) With nothing but music, plenty of time and some fresh air, they’ve been creating wonderful music and have been churning them out in little compilations like this one.

This Braaahhlitz Compilation is the result of last year’s mini gathering. It’s comprised of 8 tracks filled with guitars, flutes, a whole lot of handclaps and just simple music that makes your hearts flutter or gather up that book and curl up in the corner.

With guitars and some neat whistling, Angela opens up the record. Armed with trumpets and sweet singing, the song has a nice “loungey,” laid-back folk feel to it. It makes you wonder who Angela is by the end of it all. Following closely is Easy to Say. There’s the same jaunty tune and beautiful guitar playing. Flutes decorate the background and complement the somber, low-key vocals.

Balkan Chameleon, on the other hand, is a gypsy folk number the guys probably recorded while gathered around the night campfire. Meanwhile, Mono and Horsemen, drag down the tempo and create an atmosphere of mystery, tension, misery and reflection. Both tracks are quite rich lyrically and musically. They’re the kind you can leave on as background music while you drift off into your dreamland.

If you love these tracks, you’ll have something to look forward to this year as the guys prepare for Braaahhlitz 2013 this August. They’re also giving people a chance to drop by. You can check out more at their site. For the meantime, don’t miss out on this one. You’ll find a track to love on here, that’s for sure.

Related Links:

And the Giraffe‘s third album is an ambient folk treasure. ln Creature Collector, Nick Roberts and Josh Morris serenades us with six tracks of superfluous dream folk.

Hailing from Gainesville, Florida, And the Giraffe started when the best friends/musical duo met in a college orientation meeting and decided to jam together. After few local gigs, Josh moved to Nashville but still collaborated with Nick online. When he returned during the summer of 2011, the two were already set to record the band’s first EP.

Released last year, the album takes on the same sonic aesthetic as their previous release entitled Something for Someone. The beat drops in Find My Name in the Sun which blends seamless acoustic strings and spacey electronic sounds. I love how the song slowly builds and escalates into a stronger ending infused with heavy electric guitars.

The band showcases their ambient acoustic prowess in Of the Moment as they experiment with steady foot-stomping melodies, reverberating electro tunes, and layered vocals. Low, rapid drum beats stirs off a raw, dark energy within the song.

Enough is Enough closes up the album in a soothing piano and string ensemble. Press play, close your eyes, and let layers over layers of jazzy arrangement transport you to a nostalgic journey.

Seldom do you encounter a band that balances consistency and originality, but And the Giraffe delivers more than that. In Creature Collector, the listeners are treated to a heavy dose of psychedelic ambient high.

Track list:
1. Find My Name in the Sun
2. Of the Moment
3. Sorry
4. The Silent
5. Take Care
6. Enough is Enough

For deep and raw acoustic music, it’s hard to beat the moodiness of Val Emmich. This Jersey city native has released previous albums before and each one features a special touch.

For Bulldozzzer, Emmich keeps his audience on their toes by delivering fresh yet subdued set of tracks that highlights his beautiful vocals and intimate songwriting. You can expect barely whispered singing fluttering over keyboards and guitars.

Apart from being a rock singer, he’s also an actor who has appeared in shows like Ugly Betty and 30 Rock as well as indie film, Fighting Fish.

Without broadcasting it, Bulldozzzer provides tracks that peels back a bit of the curtain in the life of the singer/songwriter. It’s filled with reflective tracks that ask the who and what of life. Coupled with Emmich’s deep, stirring vocals; each track takes on a whole new dimension.

Walking Cane starts the album in a somber, quiet tone. Emmich’s voice rumbles on as it gently flows with the acoustic guitars. Lyrically, it echoes an artists soul as he contemplates moments in life when a simple relationship grows into a dependency of sorts. Good or bad, it’s not for us to judge but for us to merely listen.

Flat and title track, Bulldozzzer, can be found in the middle portion of the record. The former incorporates a slight uptempo beat without really stirring up much of the sand. It’s a low key track with sweet, almost sultry vocal work from the singer. Meanwhile, the latter is a quiet single with powerful lyrics. It’s about a man dealing with his moment of anger and the repercussions that come with it.

Bulldozzzer as an album is beautiful. Those who can appreciate the beauty of quiet indie rock (almost lo-fi) will adore this album and keep it close. The beauty of it is that it’s so understated, you can easily leave it playing in the background all day long. Give it a listen and enjoy!

Track list:
1. Walking Cane
2. Tenderest
3. My Will Will Not
4. Like Minded
5. Flat
6. Bulldozzzer
7. Little Girl
8. If Not For You
9. Last
10. Audience

Like his previous releases, this one is an indie acoustic folk affair that carries Clegg's laid back vocals and beautiful melodies. His guitar skills, vocal and lyrical work still take center stage like it always has.

Like his previous releases, this one is an indie acoustic folk affair that carries Clegg’s laid back vocals and beautiful melodies. His guitar skills, vocal and lyrical work still take center stage like it always has.

Composed of 12 tracks, the album is offered absolutely free under a Creative Commons License.

All Those Days to Feel Better is a compilation you play when you’re lounging for the afternoon and want some good music. From the onset, you’ll feel a gentle tug on your heartstrings as Golden starts with quiet guitar plucking and an easy-listening vibe. The tempo ups a bit as it reaches the refrain and chorus. True to his style, Derek Clegg’s music soothes the soul in a beautiful way.

The title track comes in as the third single on the record, it’s an acoustic affair that laments a bit about life. It’s followed by Leaving and Alive which are relatively more upbeat compared to the other cuts in the record.

This is the seventh album for the artist and he’s definitely put his best foot forward as always. The album carries the same sentimental acoustic pop vibe that has always been characteristic of his sound. If you’ve always been a fan of his music, this album will fit easily into your playlist. It definitely does mine. Take a listen, download and enjoy.

With short pops of energy, this self titled debut from Canto el Cuerpo Electrico is a likable compilation even if you may not speak the language.

Carrying a simple acoustic pop sound, the album is filled with 10 cuts recorded by Lautaro Barcelo and crew. A few of the tracks included in the album first made an appearance in the Lupacchiotto Project; a musical project started by Lautaro where one track is offered for free each day until the end of days.

Filled with happy and melodic tracks, this self titled debut still bears plenty of great cuts that should be noted.

Joining Lautaro in this new project are Ezequiel Dobrovsky, Matas Gonzalez, Luciano Mutinelli and Juan Abraham.

Opening the compilation is Poca Obvia Cancion de Amor or roughly translated as “Little Obvious Love Song.” After two or three listens, it’s easy to make this song a staple on your morning playlist. It has a nice jaunty tune and background harmonies that complement the vocals beautifully.

Although the more upbeat tunes create a happy mood for the compilation, there are several slow, quiet cuts that standout as well. Soy Tu Televisor (I’m Your Television) is a simple semi-acoustic cut featuring slightly high-pitched vocal work and dreamy melodies while Loco, turns down the pace slower with a cerebral, depressing vibe.
You’ll find a gorgeous mix of acoustic tracks on here. The songs flourish with charm and simplicity that makes it standout. Listen and see if you like it.

Track list:
1. Poca obvia canción de amor
2. Bye bye
3. Soy tu televisor
4. Don de vivir
5. Picardías
6. Festejo
7. Jeremías Ascot
8. Loco
9. Abrasivos
10. Hay gente que sólo sabe de moverse

If you’re idea of a relaxing afternoon includes having the perfect music to accompany your little getaway, then you should take a listen to Yesper.

There’s no band in here though; only one man with glasses, a slight beard and his guitar playing the sweetest indie acoustic folk you’ll come across. Recorded in an empty Seattle storefront, Cannibal King is a 5-track mini release filled with nothing but the kind of tracks you can relax and fall asleep to, in a good way of course.

Kicking things off is the title track, Cannibal King. Coupled with simple guitar work and a nice melody, the track is instantly likable. Whether you’re the type who likes to listen to the lyrics or simply prefer to enjoy the rhythm and melody, this song will put your soul at ease.

Racer, follows next and it’s a slightly upbeat single that features a steady beat and hypnotic vocal work. Right at the middle part, there’s a slight lull but it manages to maintain its charm nonetheless. Secret and Weight, come in next. Both are acoustic gems and enriches the album’s roster of tracks. Final single, Hovercars, is a subtle acoustic indie piece that caps the record perfectly.

Overall, you have five cuts that are harmonious, relaxing and utterly charming. It’s hard not to fall in love with these tracks especially if you’re a sucker for indie acoustic folk.

The short record is available at a free/name-your-price-download over at BandCamp. Grab it and enjoy!

Track list:
1. cannibal king
2. racer
3. secret
4. weight
5. hovercars

Ready to fill-up that folk acoustic craving? Fall Walk Run‘s Piece by Piece is texture, timbre, and fun molded into one outstanding collection.

Hailing from Wolverhampton, UK, Fall Walk Run is an indie musical duo comprising of Stuart Eaves and Lawrence Harvey. Their first EP Throwing It All Away was also featured on FrostClick. Released last February, their second album Piece by Piece, have already garnered a lot of attention with over 250,000 plays and 3400 downloads on Jamendo.

The album’s success may be attributed to its fun and lively melodies evident in its opening track Do or Die. Steady acoustic strums plays well with country vocals, adding an overall rustic and energetic vibe.

Standout tracks Runaway and Off the Ground emerges from the same sonic mold. Though Runaway makes use of sexy electric guitars and Off the Ground plays on drums, both are recommended pieces as their laid back and funky style spells perfect chill lounge music.

Closing with a pure acoustic piece, Perfectly Imperfect is a wonderful little gem that bursts with sweetness and sunshine. The track’s gentle cooing melodies makes it the perfect match with your morning coffee.

In Piece by Piece, Fall Walk Run has solidified their fixture in the indie pop game. Their polished, fun, and unpretentious sound makes them accessible to any kind of listener.

Track list:
1. Do Or Die
2. Runaway
3. Off The Ground
4. Headlights
5. What Is Love
6. Perfectly Imperfect

Back with a brand new record that resonates with warm and rich instruments; banjo-wielding bearded guru, Jacob Montague proves that he’s ready to entertain and mesmerize listeners again.

Jacob is actually no stranger to the Frostclick blog. His previous records, Fly On and On a Tightrope to the Sun have been featured here before.

Tiger and Traveler consists of three parts in its 11-track entirety and is based on a short story written by the artist with her sister. Every single track is beautiful, conjuring up thoughts of relaxation and comfort. It’s a fitting soundtrack for quiet getaways in some far away location.

The first 6 tracks make up the first part of the record. According to the liner, this serves as the “heart of the album.” The tracks were recorded in a 2 year span and are more organic in feel compared to the previous records. Traveler and Side of the Highway are two tracks worth checking out in the first part.

Part 2 includes tracks number 7 and 8 (The Unheard Parade & Observation Wheel the former is a great blend of banjo strings and slightly upbeat melody while the latter focuses more on expert guitar plucking with pianos on occasion.

The third part of the record consists of three cuts serving as score to a short movie called, “Moriah.” Infused with somber pianos and coupled with dreary and dramatic bits; the track makes a great soundtrack for living in a dream world.

Montague’s sound has evolved throughout his releases but at the core of it all is a talented instrumentalist and banjo player that can create emotional and heartfelt cuts worthy of a listen. If you’re a fan of the singer’s previous works, there’s no reason you won’t like this one as well.
