Produced with a budget of US$400-500 and filmed in only five days in Bergen, Norway, this amusing short film is very well written, shot and composed of surprisingly good, convincing actors. For a film title, “Small Penis” gives a lot, despite its size. Different folks will have different reactions, naturally. Some will be quickly amused, others displeased, and others, stoked.

To elaborate, those who are quickly amused probably felt this film has a hilarious. They are right. Those who are displeased probably thought “Small Penis” is just another meaningless film guised as art by those who had nothing better to do. They should watch this. Those who are stoked probably assumed this is a product of playful and creative minds who take their sense of humor seriously. They couldn’t be more right on the money, at least when the first half of “Small Penis” is concerned.

The characters belong to a support group that would remind you of the usual AA meeting scenes in the movies. While these men’s feelings may be inconceivable for a woman like me, the amusing way in which the story is told did humor me every minute of it, until they started singing and dancing. The music is actually good and catchy (written by Erlend Myrstad), it is just the amount of time spent on singing and dancing that I have some issues with. It would have been better if the film further explored the thoughts and relationships of Daniel, instead of showing a song-and-dance and bloopers sequence. Bloopers are always welcome for me, but a short film has to be packed and every minute must be maximized. In the end, it seemed the creators just wanted to have fun and I see nothing really wrong with that.

The film was shot on Sony XDcam, 1920x1080, 25p, and edited in Final Cut. I've recommended this film to my friends (and I wasn’t embarrassed at all).

This entertaining dark satire is a fulfillment of the requirements of "Film and Television Production" at the University of Bergen, Norway. Mormor is directed by Marthe Igesund and edited by Espen Hobbesland. These young filmmakers successfully combined the aesthetics of postcard landscapes on film with the dark realities of an elder’s life. Compelling with a good sense of humor, Mormor will make you rethink your retirement options and evaluate your relationships with your parents and/or children. This short film is for everyone.

The movie tells the story of Arne, who has always been convinced that he is no ordinary guy and he has superpowers; he just doesn’t know yet the things that he could do. What he knows is that once he is put in an extraordinary situation, his superpowers would come to the surface and help him. He figures that his yet-to-be-known superpowers need a wake-up call of some sort. Then he thought he should come face to face with his nemesis because his sleeping superpowers would surely wake up in the presence of an enemy. After all, every superhero has his archenemy. But who is his nemesis, and how will he find him?

This film is an entertaining treat for superhero followers, and for everyone who has imagined a thing or two about themselves. This is a perfect example of an old theme that was made to work in new and youthful ways.

“Nemesis” won the Student Filmmaker Award in Wimbledon Shorts 2009, the Judge's Award at the Iron Mule Short Comedy Film Series (May 2, 2009 screening) in New York, and it won the Best Short Film in Friars Club Film Festival, also in New York in 2009.
A movie that started off as five friends decided to create a good satirical and dark sci-fi comedy about a crazed leader who is set on world domination, Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning certainly doesn’t disappoint.

Under the direction of Timo Vuorensola, this movie parodies both the Star Trek and the Babylon 5 universe.

Why not join "Captain Pirk" and the "CPP Kickstart" crew as they hatch up a plan to take over the world and even the entire universe.

Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning actually picks off where the previous Star Wreck movie left off. Captain James B. Pirk along with Commander Dwarf and Commander Info is stuck in Earth. Their life in turn of the millennium Earth is appalling. Pirk is seen stuffing himself with food while Dwarf is shown as being a hot dog vendor. Essentially, their lives were miserable in Earth.

Pirk became tired of the wrecked timeline and decided to take matters into his own hands. Pirk, along with Dwarf and Info, travel to Russia in hopes of locating the spaceship of the Vulgars (referring to the Vulcans on the original series). However, the Captain convinces the Russians to create a new spaceship for him, the C.P.P Kickstart. With the Russian alliance, Pirk effortlessly takes over the world. The only problem was that the problematic and primitive technology used in the Kickstart prevented the captain from taking over other neighborhood planets.

Since Pirk is essentially not very bright and is becoming more and more like a tyrant, he decides to enter the "maggot hole" and take over the worlds beyond. Once he enters, he finds a parallel universe where Earth's future is different. Earth ended up with a far more sophisticated technology, thus the allusions to Babylon 5.

The crew finds Babylon 13 with Captain Johnny Sherrypie in the helm. Since Pirk unwittingly announced his plan to take over Earth, Sherrypie promises to fight him until the end. The two crews fight each other. At the very end of the movie, Pirk and his crew narrowly escaped the Excavator as they entered the maggot hole. The last part shows Pirk, Info and Dwarf beaming down before the ship explodes. They find themselves in the middle of nowhere; where Info suggests that they are in Earth during the Ice Age period. Info mentions about going on power saving mode so he could prevent everything from happening. While the camera zooms out, it shows that there is space debris on the planet, hinting that they could be in the far future after all and not in the past.

Personally, even if you are not a big Star Trek fan, this movie is easy to enjoy. I must admit, there were funny moments in the film and the obvious parodies were also amusing. However, there were times when the jokes seemed quite forced making it really awkward and out of place. The storyline also needed a bit of tweaking. Moreover, if you are a fanboy and used to the stoic heroism of Captain Kirk in the original series, it might irk you a bit on how moronic "Pirk's" character is. In fact, getting "irked" might be an understatement.

Nevertheless, the cast and crew deserves good praise for their effort in creating a fan movie of this size. The graphics and battle scenes were also nicely done. In a split second, you would even think that it was the real deal. For a low- budget movie produced by five friends in a two room flat, it's definitely not bad at all.
