Amousemet, Bxp: Refactoring

When two electronic musicians come together you can expect great things to follow. Refactoring is just one of such exercises that brought about the perfect mood surrounded with eclectic beats and mixes from Italy-based producers and DJs, Amousement and Bxp.

Listening to the EP is like diving down head first into an unknown world where the Twilight Zone and occasionally happy unicorns seem the norm. You’ll be easily pleased with the EP if you like a little bit of the dark side as well as some cool electro/house music.

Amousement has been active in the scene since 1996, using both digital and analog hardware to create his masterpieces. On the side, you’ll also find him playing live for a punk band. Refactoring comes from the heels of the artists’ collaboration with Bxp, a relationship that made it “possible to move from typical ambient sounds to a dancefloor mood.”

Weaving a lot of experimental sounds into his tracks, the album is like unwrapping a nice present. In Autumn, listeners are treated to a smooth mix of synths and flourishing electronic beats. The track perfectly combines energetic rhythm with a more laid back feel making it quite pleasant to listen to. Y& M, meanwhile, relies on a dark, dubstep feel to communicate its energy. Coupled with random vocal samples; this is perhaps one of the darker tracks in the record.

The other two cuts in the EP include 1A9, which sounds like the perfect video game soundtrack, and Shuffle Night, which is more laid out for a house/electronica dancefloor showdown.

Overall, the EP is quite intriguing. There’s a great mixture of elements from bass, synths and samples. The rhythm ebbs and flows nicely between tracks so you get chill-out spacey music mixed in with some of the stronger beats. Great as a soundtrack to your next house party. Enjoy!

Ben K Adams: Nonchalant

Bringing in a fusion of experimental trip hop and dance pop sounds, Nonchalant by Ben K. Adams is a nice little getaway compilation for those looking to enjoy a little time out on the dancefloor.

This is the latest release from the artist and it combines his skillful guitar playing with his expert mixing skills.

Nonchalant is a short EP but it’s enough to entice the listeners and keep them hooked with the few tracks it has in tow.�

Opening with the semi acoustic number, It’s Been Done Before; the song reminds me of�Justin Timberlake and marked with a catchy pop beat. It’s�a nice number that coaxes dance moves out of you. Essentially, a great upbeat electro track that serves as a perky opener for the EP.

It’s followed by, I Hope Dana Approves, which slows down the tempo of the EP a tad bit. If the first one was a straight up, jump-into-the-dancefloor-track; this second one is more the smoothly- slide-onto-the-dancefloor beat. They’re both equally enjoyable though. Meanwhile, You’ll Die Regretting Everything, has an Eastern feel to it. It combines exotic sounding samples as well as a somewhat spiritual atmosphere.

Final track Carcinogenic Closure, runs for only 2 minutes. In the track, the artist creates a jazzy coffee club beat with pianos and sparkling sounds.

According to the artist, each sound represents something he hasn’t done before. It’s a sweet and fresh compilation that deserves a listen, for sure. Check out the download and see if you like it.

And that doesn’t mean getting “signed” any more [although a few of them already did..] – that means having millions of fans around the world who will be there sharing the heck out of their creative commons licensed music, contributing big to their Kickstarter campaigns for new albums, buying their limited edition signed merchandise and coming to their concerts.

NazcarNation: Dynazty EP

NazcarNation isn’t really a band about racing or anything like that, instead they’re an electronic indie pop chillwave trio that creates pulsating and catchy tracks.

Founded in 2008 by Chris Wargo and Craig Robert Smith, the band first started out back in LA. Drummer/multi-instrumentalist, Mark Balane, soon joined in and they ended up recording most of the tracks on the EP.

Skillfully fusing hip hop, ambient, and electronica; theirs songs have a midtempo chill out beat that’s easy on the ears.

Fusing elements of ambient, pop and dubstep, the album is a hot mix of genres that create one giant pool of interesting sounds.

The 5-track EP opens with an almost two-minute intro called, The Swell. With lush synths, a host of basal beats and a catchy overall rhythm; it sets the mood just right for the rest of the compilation. More than anything, it gives the listeners a heads up on what to expect.

Destiny Intro, on the other hand, spins with a poppier beat, including melodic vocals worked in with dance beats and synths. This whole genre-bending is prevalent in the record. Meanwhile, Trust Fall, adds a nice dance beat to a track that best belongs in a Caribbean beach cruise. It’s a cut fit for endless summer nights spent partying like no tomorrow.

If you love electro dance pop, NazcarNation’s got you covered with this EP. It has catchy beats and a nice blend of sounds worth enjoying. It won’t break any records but you’ll find some good times associated with this one. Give it a listen and grab the download.

Haujobb: Let’s Drop Bombs

Sounding like you just stepped inside a Rob Zombie discotheque, Haujobb is a cool band that definitely knows their way around haunting industrialtechno music.

Let’s Drop Bombs contains 9 upbeat tracks that feature a vast array of electronic rock and alternative touches throughout.

Made up of Dejan Samardzic (arrangements, production), Daniel Myer (arrangements, vocals) and Manuel G. Richter (synths, noises, drums) joins them for live performances; the album is one masterful record that deserves a pedestal.

If there’s one thing you can count on from Haujobb, it’s their capacity to create soaring beats that will incite a frenzy on the dancefloor. Let’s Drop Bombs opens the exciting compilation with a mix of deep, sultry and dark vocals as well as some throbbing beats. A perfect opening song to get you in the mood for some heavy dancefloor takeover.

Membrane is another single that is definitely a classic club track, you could almost sense the strobe lights and the sweaty bodies all pulsating to the beat. It’s an energy-filled single worth to check out. Capping off the record is The Ultimate Trap, a somewhat industrial disco vibe envelops the cut. It also carries that distinct deep vocals and thumping bass from the group.

Toucan Music (Various Artists): Best Bytes Volume 1

Founded way back in 2004 and previously known as Frantik Music, Toucan Music came up with this nineteen track compilation that includes DJ-friendly singles from 2002 (to present) in a variety of dance genres such as house, breakbeat, hardcore, chillout, and trance. Hailing from United Kingdom, Toucan Music provides original high quality full-length tunes with a broad range of style.

Another Boring Lunchtime makes its way to track number one. Produced and edited by Toucan Music’s main man Psychadelik Pedestrian, it showcases a number of piano and keyboard variations that can pump up and heighten the senses.

Marc Burt’s Last Flight Home has the 70’s and 80’s disco club jive which makes it a very good progressive trance soundtrack to play at house dance parties. While Online Funkstream’s Bass Tribe remains faithful to its name by providing bass and tribal sounds adhering to a beach-like theme.

By The Water at number fifteen is a text book style techno music that is almost always present in modern day club mixes. Lastly, Interference by JMD and Kube summarizes Best Bytes Volume 1’s genuinely crafted chill-out soundtracks. The Toucan vibe is generally upbeat and melodic, with strong lead sounds and catchy hook in most of their tracks.

Sostanze Records: Don’t Believe The Hype Pt. 2

Back with a great collection of music in tow, Sostanze Records is releasing their big follow up to their successful compilation album, Don’t Believe The Hype.

Don’t Believe The Hype Pt. 2 contains the same energy and great selection of tracks like its successful predecessor.

Sostanze Records is an online netlabel that specializes in giving electro drum and bass/visual artists a chance to share their work. Everything they do is under a Creative Commons license and offered for free download.

The album contains 6 great tracks from Sostanze artists like Bebop, The Additive, Flux, Ilkobra, Nezoomie and Brokenspud. Kicking off the party is a single from Tony Buzzerio aka. The Additive. Sentient Beings is a great fusion of elemental beats; sounding off a moderate party vibe the moment you put it on.

Meanwhile, Fresh Meat from Flux, features odd beats to form a synergy of sound that would echo beautifully on any club dancefloor. Flux is an Italian drum and beats master that has several releases under his name. He’s also contributed various singles in different compilation records.

Brokenspud finishes the compilation with a fast-paced techno drumfest/X-files sounding mix in The Dry Will Come. Manuel Sabatino, also known as Brokenspud, creates sound that’s described as “dirty” neuro-funk/punk a mix of electro and drum and bass. “

The album is one of those records you can leave on playing without much worry. Each track has its own signature touch, proving that the artists definitely know their craft. This might seem like all praise but it’s definitely a nice electro/drum & beat compilation that shouldn’t be missed. Grab the download and enjoy!

Aucan: Black Rainbow Remixes

Making another big splash here on Frostclick, Aucan returns with a new and exciting free release. Their previous album, Black Rainbow, which was featured here on the blog has been received with arms wide open. To date, it has reached more than 100,000 downloads (and still counting.)

Aucan is a three piece, unconventional live electronics band that has been steadily gaining plenty of ground with their sound. Actually, it’s not just their sound but also their live performances that have been generating quite a buzz.

Maximus York: Freedomtown EP

Deep bass, wild party synths and smooth disco feel; this amazing compilation is courtesy of Los Angeles native, Santiago Calogero. Better known under the alias, Maximus York; Freedomtown EP is his latest release.

It comes with four free tracks that you can download and check out. Combining a flurry of beats and some upbeat thumping bass, the songs seem perfectly destined for any hot nightspot where dancing is the main topic.

Freshly released and all original, Freedomtown EP features various instruments, synths and samples thrown in huge vat of electronic house music. Opening title track already showers listeners with a nice rhythm that’s absolutely tailor made for the dance club. Its followed by, Wrong Place, Wrong Time with its 80s style disco beat and modern synths. One of those tracks you can’t help but tap your feet or bob your head with wherever you might be listening from.

Timetravel Tuesdays (Original Mix) by Maximus York

Meanwhile, Time Travel Tuesdays and Like You Mean It, fill up the second half of the short EP. Both songs are danceable and are saturated with keyboards and spacey sounds; conjuring images of futuristic disco travel of sorts. It actually seems like the type of music they would play on the Starship Enterprise if they were having a disco party up there in space.

Even though the EP is quite short at only four songs, you get a great helping of electro, dance music to enjoy. Take a listen and grab the download. It deserves a worthy spot on your playlist.

Beat Culture: Tokyo Dreamer

A fairly fresh ambient compilation that’s already generating buzz among internet music fans; Beat Culture’s Tokyo Dreamer is looking forward to a great year.

The 17 year old musician behind the album is a Korean born, USA based, Sunik Kim. He’s fairly new in the musical playing field but he’s definitely showing promise by expertly combining various synth sounds with careful pianos and pitched shift vocals.

As a results, the album is a rich hodge podge of sound that reflects an electronic ambient feel along with a hint of shoegaze rock for those few.

Tokyo Dreamer contains tracks that would be perfect for dance clubs and quiet musings. Starting with the enigmatic, Shoreline; the track is a trippy mix of high volume synths and vocals that effortlessly combine to create a sonic landscape. The slower moments are equally filled in with piano work that twinkle and pulse randomly over the 2 minutes plus single.

Other cuts worth taking a listen to include Coastal Sentiments which features Beyonce’s Emotions; title-track, Tokyo Dreamer as well as the sparkly dance beat, Memory (Cassettes.) One of the things that tie the songs together is the constant running water at the background. This gives a sense of coherence to the cuts and turning the album into a unified whole.

If you’re looking for some chillout ambient sounds to accompany you, Tokyo Dreamer won’t disappoint. It’s a fairly good album that has enough variety to keep you interested and hooked to the sound.
