Peter Anthony Red: The Projectionist

Be the first ones to listen to Peter Anthony Red’s debut album The Projectionist released last June 26. As stated in his bandcamp page, this conceptual EP follows a short, yet powerful narrative of a forgotten man working through the emotional roller coaster of a breakdown and subsequent search for personal reinvention. Peter Anthony Red is the moniker for QN5 founder Tonedeffs’s latest musical project. This singing-based EP boasts five tracks that will surely make fans crave for its forthcoming full-length album entitled Hyperrealism.

Awake! Awake!: New Prime – Episode 5 Soundtrack

Making their second appearance here in the Frostclick blog is Murfreesboro, TN group, Awake! Awake! Their first album, We've Been Strangers, was released back in 2007 and was a haven of infectious riffs and indie rock goodness. This time around, they're not only brandishing a deeper, more mental sound; they're also playing it in support of Olan Rogers' short film series, New Prime.

The Symphony of Science: Collector’s Edition

Occasionally, you'll come across really unusual albums online that you can't help but be fascinated with them. The Symphony of Science is one of these records. Taking a clue from the title alone, you can tell it's gonna be a geeky and quirky ride. The idea behind the record is to bring "scientific knowledge and philosophy to the public, in a novel way." Spearheaded by John D. Boswell, he initially released the experimental collaboration on video. Combining lectures and essays with a mix of electronic melodies, he created a unique record that's not only enjoyable but also quite enlightening.

MIT Choir: Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana

Originating from 1230 AD, the Carmina Burana is a set of medieval manuscripts consisting of 254 poems and dramatic text. It was an epic piece of text that was created by theological students mainly to satirize the church. Most of the works centered on subjects such as wealth, the nature of life, financial abuses, joy of Springtime and even the pleasure and perils of drinking. The Carmina Burata was translated into an beautiful cantata by German composer, Carl Orff in 1937. The composer's version of the Carmina is now available as a free download right on FMA. Performed by none other than the MIT Orchestra under the direction of Dr. William Cutter (2006.) This is a great piece of classical/medieval music brought to life in these modern times.

The Social Network soundtrack will be released digitally on Tuesday September 28th with physical formats to follow in October.

Free Machinarium Bonus EP – best flash game soundrack in years

Machinarium is a amazingly simple, yet extremely entertaining point-and-click game created by a Czech independent studio Amanita Design. It's genius comes from sleek & interesting graphics design, smart and engaging puzzle-solving levels and a really relaxing and one of a kind soundtrack. Both the game and the soundtrack are for sale on Machinarium's website, but the studio released a 5-track bonus EP as a free download to the game's fans.
