America Del Sur (or America of the South) was an indie band with Phil Cardona and Taylor Ross at the helm. Both are high school friends based in Jacksonville, Florida who distributed their music through the net label Rack and Ruin Records. Their style is an eclectic mix of jazz, post punk, indie rock, and teenage surfer twang which gives them a distinctive sound that is - however hard to categorize - quite pleasing to the ear. You'd have to listen to them to understand exactly what I mean.

Ben et Béné is an Electro-8bit-Punk duo from France. Ben started playing his own music in 2003 after singing and playing in other punk and indie rock groups, composing his music on a cheap computer, then Gameboy and Reason. Now, all the songs and videos from that EP are available for download for free via the record label's website.

Lepork Records is a new net label specializing in South American punk artists. The small offering of online albums is interesting but I was especially drawn to The Leftouts and their free album titled Last One Standing. It is a raucous effort incorporating power pop with punk. I especially like the opening track, “19 Days” and the tense title tune. This album, as well as the albums by other bands on this net label deserve a listen for their inexhaustible energy but also to show how global the punk genre has become.
