B. Eure III or Bernard Eure III definitely knows how to create cool, laid back beats; the kind you can play on a quiet Saturday night while chillin’ with your friends.

A Mind’s Canvas is the first album from this Virginia based artist. He doesn’t waste anybody’s time and right from the start showcases his penchant for catchy rhythm and great rhymes.

According to the artist, “this album is a self produced project I dedicate to the ever presence lesson of life, love and the struggle to balance it all. A mind is truly a canvas because what we see and experience constitutes the images and beliefs engraved in it.”

It’s not everyday you get a spectacular mini EP that impresses from beginning to end, A Mind’s Canvas is one of those rare moments and it’s filled with special tracks that are hard to ignore.

My Life, opens up the compilation and starts it strong. Expect to end up tapping your feet or doing a little sway with your head as you listen to this track. It’s cool and catchy and guaranteed to leave you with a dose of last-song-syndrome. Right up next is The Verge, featuring a smoother beat, B. Eure’s vocals starts to really shine. The groove is nice and it’s just smooth throughout.

Meanwhile, If I Had a Dollar and Others fill the tracks in between and each song has its own personality. Crash, beautifully closes the record in style as it sways with beautiful grooves and B. Eure’s gorgeous pipes.

Overall, there’s only 5 tracks on this record but if you love soul then it’s almost guaranteed you’re going to love the entire set. Hopefully there’s more to come from this talented singer/producer. It’ll be something to look forward to that’s for sure. Grab the download for the meantime. Enjoy!

Toronto native, Dwight Anderson is one of those people where performing and singing has come naturally. At 6 years old, the singer was already impressing audiences at his church. By adolescence, he took his passion further by joining talent shows and recording personal demos.

Fast forward today and the singer has already recorded and released his debut compilation. All of Me, gave the singer a solid foot inside the music world. With his soulful vocals and simple yet catchy R&B rhythms, the songs he creates are instantly likable. Perfect for singing along to and simply chilling in.

Most of the songs on here are a couple of years old but it’s still quite a find. His first big hit, Oh No, gained the singer a solid radio airplay. It’s a slow and smooth R&B style cut that highlights great harmonies and the singer’s beautiful vocals. He didn’t stop there, it was followed by other hits like So Beautiful and Holdin’ On, which is also included in this compilation.

Currently, the singer is working more behind the scenes. He’s credited as penning tunes for various artists including Canadian Idol runner-up, Gary Beals. One of the tracks he wrote for the singer actually earned the young newcomer a Best in R&B/Soul Juno nomination.

Citing Sam Cooke, Aretha Franklin, Jodeci and Boyz II Men among his many influences, it’s not hard to see this reflected in his music. There’s a nice old-school touch to most of his songs that make it instantly ‘groove-able’ even on first listen.

Personally, I thoroughly enjoyed this one. One of the best R&B records I’ve come across for this year. The best part is that this one is offered for free download, so go check it out. Enjoy!

With the success of her debut EP D.E.V.Y.N. which hit over 150,000 downloads over at FrostWire, Devyn Rose is ready to win you over yet again with her final installment of the free EP series entitled PROJECT: I AM DEVYN ROSE.

Hailing from Mt. Vernon, NY, Devyn’s stint in the entertainment industry started through modelling but later on jumped to music under the name Tanya T6 where she released the mixtape Move Over Paris Hilton.

In Want It All, the multi-genre singer/songwriter offers us five hard-hitting tracks that encapsulates Devyn’s own musical style—an eccentric mix of pop, r&b, alternative, and hip hop.

When asked about her new EP, Devyn says, ”My main goal for my EP “Want It All” is to show my fans and potential new fans what I am capable of overall as a multi genre musician, through my music, through my visuals, in everything I do…and I definitely feel I am accomplishing that goal – I’m sooo not done yet..although this is the last installment to my PROJECT: I AM DEVYN ROSE EP Series, this is really just the beginning to the end.”

A funky intro spices things up as title track Want It All welcomes the ears with a sultry piano ensemble. Few minutes into the song and you’ll fully visualize the immense talent this artist has to offer.

Following with dense musical background, F??k Me High intensifies Devyn’s most powerful asset—her voice. Press play and let her hot, layered vocals builds and fades in its own fashion.

Who I Am features jumpy electro pop tunes that both quirky and highly addictive. While What If We wraps up the EP with solid r&b beats that blends smoothly with Devyn’s soulful vocals.

Want It All EP reaffirms that the best is yet to come for Devyn Rose. Her talent, unique style, and polished vocals were thoughtfully put together making this album worth every repeat.

Treat yourself with some soulful hauntingly beautiful tunes in London Bridges‘ self-titled album. Released last September 14, 2012, the album offers 10 tracks that will surely intrigue our ears.

This is not your typical ambient collection as it takes a little bit of everything–from lo-fi to r&b beats–resulting to an intricate medley between spacey chillwave and funky melodies. The genius behind this highly addictive melodies is known by the name London Bridges. We might know little about the producer but one thing’s for sure, his/her craftsmanship and talent will take her a long way in the music industry.

Starting things up is Smoke. As the first beat kicks abruptly through the long ambient tunes, you’ll already know that you’ve hit upon something unique and excellent. The sound is nothing I have ever heard; the lo-fi beats beats seems to be scattered around the track but still plays well as a coherent whole.

Together makes use of Gotye’s hit song Somebody that I Used to Know and distorting it with some electro machine lovin’ and repetitive play-ups. The whispering instrumentation and layered electro melodies gives this track a very sexy flair.

Staying true to its ambient roots, Falling‘s instrumental backbone consists of fluttering keys, spacey atmosphere, and slow tempo added with just a bit of soulful beat to give the track a little spice.

Featuring the up and coming rapper Stockz, Players Ball closes the set with crisp lines placed perfectly in between chill instrumentation.

Track list:
1. Smoke
2. Together
3. My Heart
4. Hold Me Close
5. Shelter (the xx)
6. Falling
7. Let It Die (feist)
8. 4 a.m.
9. I Want It
10. Players Ball (stockz)

German-born rapper and singer, ANTHM is out with his latest effort, Joy & Pain. Right from his humble beginnings to where he is right now, he’s always had his music front and center.

This is a debut compilation for the artist. He made his first appearance by collaborating with Blu in Polaris (the track is featured here as well.) Although it had its shortcomings, there was something special about ANTHM.

Joy & Pain combines rap and a bit of R&B. Formerly a Wall Street worker, his work ethic is quite present in the tracks while laced with his own style. Carrying 7 fresh tracks, listeners can easily dissect ANTHMs style and range just by listening to these.

Kicking things off with a short introduction is Fortuna, ANTHM combines a nice flow with some great mic skills. He follows it with God of Joy which is an upbeat dance pop affair. It’s a great piece of track that will definitely get you groovin’ from beginning to end. Siren’s Song is another upbeat number that features great rhythm and an awesome hip hop beat.

The second half of the short compilation features quieter tracks that emphasize on the artists’ more R&B/soul side. You get Polaris, done in collaboration with Blu, Be Still and of course, title track, Joy & Pain.

Overall, ANTHM’s compilation definitely has its shining moments. Laced with fun and catchy grooves as well as intelligent lyrics, the album is worth noting. Eventually, it’s something you’ll grow into. Check it out.

A.D.D. is an NYC duo of Amiel Cruz aka Twist and Ben Santiago aka Bennie Black, they've compiled a set of tracks that exude fun and engaging hip hop music.

A.D.D. is an NYC duo of Amiel Cruz aka Twist and Ben Santiago aka Bennie Black, they’ve compiled a set of tracks that exude fun and engaging hip hop music.

A.D.D. is actually an acronym for “A Dynamic Duo.” They’re fairly new in the scene, having just formed back in 2011. According to their mini bio, they’re not looking to get a record deal, they just want a “team of believers” for their music.

Just Wait For It… is an independently produced compilation from the duo. The mini album features 8 cuts that range from pure hip hop rap to touches of pop and R&B.

The record starts with a smooth intro, before showing off their skills in, No Love. Produced by DJ Leeroy Jenkins and Bennie Black, the single features a semi-upbeat R&B sound. Although the song isn’t really the strongest cut in the record, there are plenty of other tracks that best represent the boys and their skills.

For instance, Dear Mary produced by Nujabes, is one of the better singles on the album. It features nice guitar work in the background and mic skills that round up the mood of the cut nicely. Run It Back, sees the boys focus more on their smooth R&B side. This one also features one of the best mic skills you’ll find on the record. If you’re going to check out one track from the album, I’d recommend this one.

Overall, Just Wait For It… isn’t as polished as you’d expect but it definitely shows off the duo’s potential. It’ll be exciting to see how their sound evolves in their succeeding releases. Check it out.

In need of a new sound? Here’s another refreshing treat for those thirsty ears. Featuring a hefty set of 14 tracks, The Pato Collection by Pato Margetic will surely ignite your weary souls.

Hailing form Detroit, Michigan, Pato Margetic has the full package—looks and undeniable musical talent. Aside from being a singer, guitarist, and musician, Pato has also been selected by Cosmopolitan magazines as Michigan’s 2012 Bachelor of the Year.

As stated in his website, The Pato Collection delivers a story of heartbereak, struggle, and endurance in a place where hope seems lost; all while fighting to make dreams come true.

Purple Hearts opens up with a killer combo of pop and soul. Rhythmic beats from the guitar guarantee some hand clapping while Pato’s controlled yet powerful vocals sail smoothly throughout the song.

Following with some RnB goodness, Fall Apart serves a combination of steady energetic beats and empowering lyrics. Blood Sweat and Tears, on the other hand, features Pato’s impeccable talent as acoustic strings and stripped-down arrangement calms the ears.

Another acoustic ensemble, The One You Love is a saccharine piece perfect for easy-listening. Bonus track Heart of a Lion wraps up the album with clean vocals, groove, and edge.

In this collection, Pato Margetic will surely gain a consistent following. It is a nice treat for folks who are already fans of Pato and is definitely a catch for new ears.

A hip hop concept album, The Timepiece by Micah Freeman takes you on a musical journey through several different decades of music. You'll hear a bit of 80s funk and the more raw 90s hip hop sound in here.

This is the first album for the Baltimore native. It's done in collaboration with The DJBooth and is a solid hip hop/pop record that honestly brings to mind swagger similar to that of Pharrell and his time in N.E.R.D as well as Kid Cudi.

A hip hop concept album, The Timepiece by Micah Freeman takes you on a musical journey through several different decades of music. You’ll hear a bit of 80s funk and the more raw 90s hip hop sound in here.

This is the first album for the Baltimore native. It’s done in collaboration with The DJBooth and is a solid hip hop/pop record that honestly brings to mind swagger similar to that of Pharrell and his time in N.E.R.D as well as Kid Cudi.

The Timepiece is offered as a free digital album in exchange for your email. It’s a great bargain, considering you’re getting so much in the deal.

Freeman plays a time traveler in this one. The concept freely allows him to explore the many facets of hip hop music during its early days (you know, the ones where it wasn’t exactly shameful to wear bright colored clothes and not include a single cuss in the lyrics?) up to the more futuristic, electronic infused sounds.

The good news is that for the most part, Freeman is quite successful in the endeavor. He puts together a good story for listeners while keeping seriously fun and catchy hooks in between.

Catch You and See Clear, are defined by a nice 80s pop influence. If you’re old enough, you’d love it simply because it sounds like you’ve been listening to it forever. The intermission, A Time Traveler’s Manifesto: The Descension is an instrumental epic piece that brings to mind equal parts Vader in Star Wars and Tim Burton style chimes. Much of the latter half of the album incorporates a slightly futuristic and very danceable vibe.

Personally, I like this one. I don’t have any complaints about it and in fact, it’s something I wouldn’t mind listening to for a good while. You can even leave it playing and chances are you’d probably enjoy it too. Give it a listen and grab the download if you like it.

Simply titled, II; BJ Block and Dawn Pemberton’s second collaboration bears the same uplifting positive emotion and meaningful lyrics that has made their first effort, The Land of Make Believe, a huge success.

They’ve continued the tradition of releasing their albums free and everybody is getting a chance to hear it first via Frostwire. Containing eight soulful tracks, it bears the familiar sound of jazz, funk, R&B and gospel that has become a trademark for the feel-good, positive and chill vibe of their resonates with.

After a short introduction, the record opens with Ready Or Not. It lays solid ground for the album by providing a smooth r&b groove and highlighting Dawn’s mesmerizing vocal work. BJ’s smooth guitars along with the groovy bass synch-in nicely adding a jazzy atmosphere that transports a calmness to every fiber of your body as you listen om. It’s a perfect combination that only these two talented musicians can pull off.

Expect to hear more of this combo as you cycle through the record. Sometimes, for instance, slows down the tempo just right. If you ever need that perfect love song to play as you dance with your partner or have that candlelit dinner, this is the song to put on. If you’re in the mood for dancing, Without A Doubt and What Comes Naturally will help you get your groove on.

As the album winds down, gospel inspired We Cry and Falling Into You closes on a positive note. Providing uplifting lyrical inspiration as well as amazing instrument work.

BJ Block is a classically trained musician and has been in love with the craft since he was 15. He used to play and tour for acoustic rock band The Ernest Goodlife Band. Meanwhile, Dawn Pemberton also had an early start in her love for sound. She changed course from piano playing to explore and hone her wonderful voice; singing gospel, jazz, R&B and funk. She is a considered a prominent figure in the Vancouver scene with more than 30 years experience under her belt singing and playing on over 35 recordings.

The success of “Make Believe” inspired BJ and Dawn to keep creating – “II” is fun funded entirely through Kickstarter!
Expect nothing less than some of the best R&B tinged tracks from this compilation. You’ll find cuts from indie artists like Joi Tiffany, Tiffany Ivey, Tiffany Joy and Itz Tiffany, to name a few.

I Get Ill is a nice, smooth and slow cut reflecting on personal thoughts while Only Girl in the World by Tiffany Bell is a Rihanna cover. Her version is much slower and adds a depth that the Rihanna version doesn’t have.

Meanwhile, Take A Number from Tiffany Joy is one of the more upbeat cuts on the album. The Buenos Aires-based singer first started in 2002, releasing her debut compilation Return to Bliss. On the other hand, fulfilling the rap slot in the record, Itz Tiffany, contributes Fake London Boy. A fun and uptempo rap track that rounds off the album nicely.

Crayon Beats Vol 4: Girls Named Tiffany is a rich compilation that brings in a lot of indie artists to the fore. Chances are you’ll find an artist who’s music might become a staple on your playlist. Grab the download for free and make sure to check out their site as well.
