The Great Society Media Group is a company that serves as a "promotional vehicle for local record labels in NC." CEO & Founder, Tap (Terry Perry) makes his mark by showcasing his unique blend of sound by releasing this latest effort.

Combining a variety of genres, Im Different is an interesting mix of sounds and beats. On one part it's classified as typical hip hop and r&b while on the other, you'll find electronic, acoustic and even jazz influences surrounding the record.

Tap is no newbie on the block. He's a prolific producer and rapper who has contributed to tracks/albums from artists like Asher Roth, Juelz Santanas Ripstar, Chulo and Ya Favorite Lady to name a few.

Im Different is the latest offering from the artist following a series of compilation records and singles released since 2010. Featuring a general laid-back feel; the album is contemplative and moody in places but also includes lovely upbeat sounds every now and then. When you listen, you'll get tracks like Keep Rising ft. Koury Thompson, which is a beautiful mellow R&B single that combines gorgeous lyrics with soulful singing. Meanwhile, several standout tracks include Hair Down, Sublime ft. Deniro, Transition and the bonus cut, Tizzy Bossa Nova.

If you're looking for some chill music that's appropriate for winding down after a hectic day, this is a nice compilation to check out. Tap can easily create smooth tracks that's perfect for relaxing. From electronica, a touch of rock, and R & B; the artist covers the bases and ensures that listeners have a good time while on the ride. Grab the download.

You won't find much about Martina Matwiejczuk online. Save for the few links on her Facebook Page, there's hardly any info about the singer herself.

Even though she remains a mysterious figure in the music scene, her sound might just pluck her out of this obscurity soon enough.

This Polish singer has a knack for creating catchy pop and R&B laced tracks that seems destined to receive good airplay. Her EP, Extended Play is a first for her. It comes with 5 feel-good cuts ready to make you a convert to her music.

Starting her short but gorgeous EP with a single that shows off her strong vocals, Give Me a Reason is essentially a smooth pop song that you can easily chill with. Within minutes of the track, it becomes apparent that Martina is an artist that has the capacity to command a listen. The song is catchy. Even though it is a bit typical, it's this same familiarity that makes it a great cut to enjoy.

Second track, Kilimanjaro is an upbeat single that serves as a nice club dance track. It has the right amount of groove that you can pop on for house parties or if you want something to perk up your mood. It's also easy to imagine this one playing over the radio. Martina takes a slower pace with Searcher, showcasing that she can belt R&B infused tracks if she wants to. This one cut sounds like it belongs to a Beyonce album. Vocals are great and the replay value of the single is quite high. Meanwhile, Black is White, ends the album the same way it opens it; with a single that will stay stuck in your head after just a listen or two.

Extended Play might be a simple EP that has plays on the same formula of soulful dance pop with a hint of R&B, but it's still a record worth grabbing if you ask me. Martina Matwiejczuk has a certain charm while she sings her songs. It's hard not to fall for it and have her music on repeat for the rest of the day.

Starting with Take A Number (feat. Fred the Godson) the record fires off with synths and hip-hop beats that will make you ask one question only: why haven't I hear this before? Yes, the sounds come close to all of today's radio hits... with a little extra spice for added originality, that is. It's professional quality combined with Baiyu's gorgeous, piercing vocals will certainly make for a great addition to any party playlist.

There is no weak point in Fan Fair but there is certainly a personal favorite. Together combines beautifully flowing melodies, heart-felt lyrics, a little touch of R'n'B and Baiyu's playful personality taking over the music video. Shot in the streets and subways of NYC the video was quickly greeted with positive response and was even picked up by the MTV networks.

Baiyu has been fascinated with sound from the very young age; with inspiration taken directly from the most powerful ladies (Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston) exuding equally powerful vocals.

As the time passed, Baiyu has immersed herself in activities ranging from dance to theater. She has been modeling and acting, with appearances in numerous independent films and spending three years as a host of the MTVu's show "The Freshmen". And then after finishing her studies at Princeton University the first EP was released, entering the music scene with a bang.

Abel Tesfaye (born February 16, 1990), better known by his stage name The Weeknd, is an Ethiopian Canadian singer. Songs recorded under The Weeknd name first leaked in late 2010, though the identity of the individual behind the project was initially unknown. The Weeknd released a nine-song mixtape, House of Balloons, on 21 March 2011. The mixtape is a part of a trilogy which includes Thursday, released on 18 August 2011, and Echoes of Silence, released on 21 December 2011.

The song "High for This" was featured in the promo for the final season of the HBO show Entourage. On June 16, 2011, House of Balloons was named as a longlisted nominee for the 2011 Polaris Music Prize. On July 6, the album was named as one of ten shortlisted nominees but eventually lost to Arcade Fire's The Suburbs. On December 21, 2011 at 11:07 p.m. EST Tesfaye released his highly anticipated mixtape "Echoes of Silence". The Weeknd's site crashed shortly after due to the large number of downloads. The Weeknd quickly provided a Hulkshare link to keep the album available while the official site was down.

The fame of this mixtape is spreading way faster than his two previous ones. Today, the title was one of the most trending terms on Google and it appeared in news from such publications like Wall Street Journal, Huffington Post and The Billboard. He is undoubtedly being backed by major influences in the music industry (like Drake, who he worked with on the "Take Care" album - listen to "Crew Love" track!), nonetheless the mixtape is very worth the download for both the indie and the mainstream music lover. His talent was not noticed for nothing.

JoJo: Can’t Take That Away From Me - soulful pop R&B beats

The once young JoJo is now a woman and she proves it in her beautifully composed and executed album, Can’t Take That Away From Me.

Exclusively released last September 2010 to Rap-Up.com, this free mixtape is a prelude to the singer’s third album formerly entitled All I Want Is Everything. The said album was then released as Jumping Trains under BlackGround records due to a misunderstanding with the songbird’s former record label.

This 11-song musical treat starts off with its title track, Can’t Take That Away From Me, a danceable song where the artist’s powerful voice is matched with equally raved up beats; if you are familiar with JoJo, imagine her former single Beautiful Girls with an addition of a powerful and edgy flair.

Running on Empty revamps JoJo from a sweet charmer to someone who belts out along stingy electric guitars, while the tracks entitled Pretty Please and My Time is Money will surely get your moves on with hand clapping rhythms and pure R&B tunes.

The album takes than a slightly slower turn with Just a Dream and Boy without a Heart, both of which showcase the singer’s amazing vocals backed up with gorgeous melodies and a handful of acoustic strings. Perfect tracks for a cozy afternoon.

One of my favorites, however, is In the Dark. The song quickly reminded me of a young Madonna... a young Madonna singing sexy electric beats, that is. This must-hear will surely give all the pop lovers out there that right kind of high.

I personally liked the whole album; there is nothing more remarkable than a young artist exploring new territory. Can’t Take That Away From Me offers fresh new tunes that were surely worth the risk.

Badluck: Infinity

Another release from the longstanding netlabel, blocSonic, is this cool hip-hop compilation from BADLUCK. Hailing from Bed Stuy, this is the first solo record from the artist. He originally makes up one half of the crew, Luck & Ripps, which also released their debut album The Catastrophic Connection, on the netlabel back in 2009.

This time around BADLUCK is on his own; giving listeners a sneak peek of his upcoming solo album. Infinity is a record that showcases the artists capacity to mix old school hip-hop with modern beats; creating a seamless, catchy bunch of tracks that's easy on the ears.

The album includes 8 tracks, with about 4 original singles. The rest is comprised of remixes of one song done alongside with different artists. Opening with the title-track, Infinity; the single is also a part of the artist's upcoming album. The song has a nice old-school hip hop vibe to it, making it a fairly likable song from the onset. Badluck's skills are pretty solid and the song includes a catchy beat giving it that perfect laid back club vibe.

Meanwhile, Vanity featuring Sleep Hollows sees the rapper taking things a bit slow. Mixing R&B style melodies along with gorgeous backing vocals, the song is a smooth cut that sees several incarnations throughout the compilation. The other versions include a Raw Dog remix, an instrumental as well as an acapella version.

The album is a nice little introduction to Badluck's sound and skills. Although there's nothing inherently groundbreaking here, it's a fairly good album worth playing and downloading.

Rockthedub presents The KhemLab - amazing hip hop compilation worth your time

After two years since releasing their compilation, Offshore Drilling (not to the mention scores of praise and acclaim they got for it) The KhemLab is now back with their latest compilation. The Khemlab is essentially a collective of young, up-and-coming, talented MCs gathering together to create one explosive compilation.

For their first collaboration, they utilized Kid Hum's instrumental record, Fossil Fuel as the back bone. This time around, the group conjures up original beats as well as a couple of sample cuts from "Diamond District and DJ Concept & DJ Mickey Knox' BYOP EP" to create this stunning piece of hip hop album worth hearing.

Despite the slow formation, taking almost two years to compile and gather together everything; the results is nothing short but spectacular. Those 2 years netted this 20-track album that's filled with catchy beats, great skills from various MCs and just amazing compositions throughout.

Blasting through your player with opening single, The Khemlab Anthem; the song features loops, amazing rap skills and a nice laid back feel. Much of the tracks tackle different subjects from a cut professing admiration for footwear (New Shoes) to a smooth, R&B like single about guns and violence (Gun Talk); it's a hodge of great sound wherever you listen.

Some of my other favorite tracks include the very vintage driven single, Abby Psalm from Kid Hum; the short and trippy single, Let It Out and the classic, True Schoolers.

It's certainly a record worth waiting for. Filled with solid beats and lots of amazing skills; these guys definitely know how to impress. One of those albums you shouldn't miss out.

Immortal Beats: Sample Your Mind EP - smooth, easy listening beats for your senses

This isn't just the latest compilation from Immortal Beats, it is a compilation that certainly deserves a listen. Sample Your Mind is a 14-track record that combines easy-listening R&B with some smooth vocal samples.

Released back in 2010, the album is perfect for those comfy and relaxing nights where you just want to sit back, drink a glass of bubbly with your partner and enjoy the evening.

Immortal Beats is a German producer that definitely knows his way around smooth and ready-to-mingle beats. He has released 5 records so far and each one of them merits a listen. However, if you want something to get you started, Sample Your Mind is a good place to do just that.

Almost all of the cuts are short, with the longest clocking in at around 3 minutes. Despite this, the album is still a great treat. Starting things off is the sultry single, Are You There, most of the songs are instrumental and simply composed of looping beats; this one is no exception. It's a beautiful and relaxing cut that perfectly sets the mood for your date with the rest of the album.

Some of my favorite tracks include the one minute stunner, Changing; the classic R&B single, Oh Wee; Groovy Dance and album capper, Just Listen Before You Sleep. Much of the songs on the record are quite likable. As mentioned, it's one of those records you put on if you want to take a breather from the hectic pace of life and need something to calm or soothe your senses.

It's this capacity to captivate your attention and give you a relaxing listen that makes the album worth checking out. You can also grab other compilations from Immortal Beats right over at his BandCamp page.

DJ and producer SoulClap is sharing his craft by offering a free Beat Tape to emcees, fans and general listeners. Filled with 12 instrumental beats, each track can be used for your own devices provided you credit back the artist, of course.

SoulClap is actually a hip hop producer who manages his own recording studio back in Germany. Back in his country, he has produced music for various talented artists like Freeway, Smif N Wessun, Epsilon Project, Those Chosen, Dominique Larue and several other new artists.

It's definitely a great compilation for those looking to try their hand at mixing and creating their own sound.

The Beat Tape is a great compilation that any rising emcee would love to have. All the tracks run for about 45 seconds and are quite diverse. From the cool, hip hop and bass driven vibe of Crazy About U, to the gypsy sounding little loop of Crime Rate and down to the soulful R&B infused beat of If Lovin' You isn't Rite; this beat tape is worth checking out.

Some of my favorites include Sahara with its Moroccon-style sound and Jazzthang because of its very low-key yet groovy beat. Although at times I wish this were more than just a "beats" album and a full-pledged record instead, it is still quite enjoyable. It's much more useful to aspiring emcees or dj's but it doesn't mean regular listeners can't enjoy 45 seconds of bliss with these tracks.

For those waiting to hear from superstar independent rapper, Kellee Maize, the long wait is over. Integration is finally here! This explosive new album from the artist features her trademark strong rap vocals, inspiring lyrics and top notch composition, free only on FrostClick through FrostWire!

This time around, Kellee delves deeper into her spiritual side. Hints of it were seen in her previous record, Aligned Archetype (which garnered more than 135 thousand downloads here in Frostclick alone) but now she fully embraces it in this record. In her own words, the album is "my efforts to integrate and unify the dualistic sides of myself and the world."

With a little over a decade on the music business along with 3 full albums and a handful of singles, Kellee has established herself as among the top indie female rappers out there. Some might even argue that she's better than most label-backed rap artist. Just one listen to her album and you'll understand how valid an argument this is.

Whether you are into the lyrical and spiritual expression of the songs or not, there's no denying the fact that Integration is impressive. Besides, you gotta love someone who has so much dedication and love for her craft that she's offering such a great album absolutely free and under a Creative Commons License.
