Although the label that released this gem is no longer active, Crunch Pod did leave quite a few awesome compilations to check out.

Pastel Agressive from talented electronic maven, Bitch Brigade is one of these albums left behind. Consisting of experimental synth pop with added girly rock and pop vocals, the album is the perfect soundtrack to a laid back dance club night out.

Bitch Brigade started back in 2006 and comes from the Land Down Under. They are made up of�Agr1ppa (Agrippa Cryoflesh,)�Zero_ (keyboards) and Ping! (drums).�

Little is known about the band themselves so let’s just delve into what makes this album quite special: the music.

Pastel Aggressive is actually a remix album so expect different versions of the two primary tracks on here.�Kickstarting the dance compilation is Licky the Carnivorous Pony remixed by�Polluted Axis and the Magical Glue Factory (yes, you can expect more quirky titles from the album). The track is a synth/strobe-light feel, sexy track. Bitch Brigade knows how to keep their audience�entranced, making you want to listen from start to finish.

The other track on here is Bubblegum Cyber, it’s a single that sees the artist proclaiming how she has a fetish for “pink and cute, and PVC…”�It’s a great cut and each remix adds a different feel to it.

Overall, even if you only occasionally like dance music, it’s hard not to find this album intriguing. Personally, I ended up liking it after one listen. Bitch Brigade brings in a new layer to the sound they create, ensuring that they’re not just repeating formulas so familiar in today’s dance scenes. Go check it out. It’s a name-your-price-download.

Alexander Chereshnev: Unremembered Stardust

Artist and composer�Alexander Chereshnev, has unveiled his latest project titled Unremembered Startdust. The EP comes equipped with 4 tracks that are both hauntingly dreamy and melancholic.

The artist has been around the music scene since 2004, producing various types of music and releasing a few EPs. Among his first compilations was a short record titled Going Home. This was released under his then moniker, Siberian Son.

After this first foray, he followed it up by releasing various vinyls, singles as well as contributing to different compilations including this latest record.

His previous works were supported and welcomed by quite a few world-famous DJs the likes of Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Paul Oakenfold, John 00 Fleming and Anthony Pappa to name a few. Moreover, his succeeding albums also gained plenty of notice. Although he’s moved on to a more ambient, downtempo vibe; the artist still brings in that special touch.

Unremembered Stardust is his latest album. As each of the track plays, the artist brings you to a world where deep and dreamy sounds abound. Starting with Vanishing Memories, you get this foreboding feeling ringing in. It’s haunting but also filled with a nice melodic touch. Meanwhile, Parfois is a gorgeous track that features spoken word in French along with some atmospheric sound while�Some Other Color, is one of the more upbeat tracks on the record. Finally, the EP is finished off by Non Mi Ricordo which features SackJo22. The song has that Elvish feel like something you can imagine fairies, nymphs and elves would sing to themselves in the forest.

Overall, you get a short but concise compilation that stirs the senses. Each cut somewhat represents the artists’ capacity to mix different styles and genres; making the record a delight to listen to. Go ahead and make sure to grab the download.

Makkadessia: Moonou

Progressive techno and dance don’t get enough lovin’ in the mainstream market but it doesn’t mean it’s not worth taking a listen to.

Makkadessia is a duo made up of�Yauhen Bardouski and Maxim Kuharenko;�two young producers from Belarus. Moonou is the duo’s latest release and hauls in a flurry of the house, techno, progressive and dub sounds with them.

Released under Wavelike.net, the label specializes in offering electronic music that are licensed and shared for free under a Creative Commons License.

Despite having plenty of sites to check out their sound, there’s hardly any solid information about the duo. One thing’s for certain though, their sound is a gorgeous mix of muted snares and house/trance rhythms fit for a psychedelic time.

Starting the compilation is�Original, the track showcases hypnotic beats lined with occasional vocal samples. Despite being 8 minutes long, listeners are treated to a wall of sound that pulses and throbs incessantly.�Giving off the same vibe throughout the EP, each track on the album shows off a resident feel and aura. Most of these are easy to dance to and would make the ideal soundtrack for clubs as well as rave parties everywhere.

Overall, you’re in for some type of sonic experience when you listen to this record. The album is available as a free download right now, so take a listen and enjoy.

Actraiser: Phantomile EP

Actraiser’s Phantomile EP is a resurrection of sorts for Cut Music. After taking a mini-hiatus, they’re back with an explosive and equally catchy free EP for all of you electro ambient obsessives out there.

Bristol-based producer Actraiser delivers an magnetic five track compilation that flourishes with mystical dubstep tracks while sticking to classic ambient rhythms and beats.

This the first for the artist and as expected from previous Cut Music recordings; it’s setting great groundwork for future releases.

Actraiser creates music that’s suitable for creating atmosphere while at the same time comfortable to groove to on the dance floor.

Like most Cut Music releases, this one only features a few tracks but each one presents some of the best from the artist. Starting slow and melodic, title-track Phantomile, opens the EP. Infused with a subtle tribal hypnotic vocal loop and a steady flow of synths; the song is ethereal and conveys a dark yet calming image. Meanwhile, Gryzor steps up the tempo a bit and provides a more dance club worthy rhythm.

The rest of the tracks complete the compilation. Listeners get a nice mix in Shadow Boxing; ambient jungle beats in The King is Dead, and a subdued ending track in, Walkers.

His Statue Falls: Collisions Remixed

His Statue Falls is a unique band in that they combine various genres to weed out their own characteristic sound. Mixing techno, screamo, pop and breakdowns; the German group dubbed their sound as “techcore.”

Music catches on fast and soon they were playing at more than 150 shows and other groups started to create a similar sound. Not to be deterred, the band pushed forward and continue to mold their music according to their taste.

Collisions Remixed is based off their debut record and contains a spin off of some of their best tracks from the album.

Listening to His Statue Falls is quite interesting. It’s hard to find the right words to express all the synchronized chaos that goes into the songs. There’s electronic beats in every corner, autotune, growling and melodic pop harmonies all rolled into one. Personally, the songs are great for dissecting and as a whole actually sound really good.

Collisions Remixed is an upgrade of the tracks from their debut album, Collisions back in 2010. It contains 8-tracks, all remixed and added with that extra special dancefloor touch. Among the best singles to check out include opening cut, Bury My Shell At Wounded Knee (Bionic Ghost Kids Remix), Capital H Capital O (See My Point Remix), as well as You Need Hit To Spell Shit (Opava Remix).

There’s no denying that the album is meant as your best companion on the dancefloor. Filled with expert mixes, it’s a charming compilation to play on a house party or a club. Even if you might not like the whole screamo part, these boys possess skills in creating their own unique sound.

Haujobb: Let’s Drop Bombs

Sounding like you just stepped inside a Rob Zombie discotheque, Haujobb is a cool band that definitely knows their way around haunting industrialtechno music.

Let’s Drop Bombs contains 9 upbeat tracks that feature a vast array of electronic rock and alternative touches throughout.

Made up of Dejan Samardzic (arrangements, production), Daniel Myer (arrangements, vocals) and Manuel G. Richter (synths, noises, drums) joins them for live performances; the album is one masterful record that deserves a pedestal.

If there’s one thing you can count on from Haujobb, it’s their capacity to create soaring beats that will incite a frenzy on the dancefloor. Let’s Drop Bombs opens the exciting compilation with a mix of deep, sultry and dark vocals as well as some throbbing beats. A perfect opening song to get you in the mood for some heavy dancefloor takeover.

Membrane is another single that is definitely a classic club track, you could almost sense the strobe lights and the sweaty bodies all pulsating to the beat. It’s an energy-filled single worth to check out. Capping off the record is The Ultimate Trap, a somewhat industrial disco vibe envelops the cut. It also carries that distinct deep vocals and thumping bass from the group.

Renard: Robot Brainstronaut Blastoff!!!

If you like techno, video game references, and ridiculously vibrant art covers, Robot Brainstronaut Blastoff is the prescription music you need to take. Produced and made exclusively by Renard (just one of his few aliases) through his personal, independent record label LapFox Trax, this Canadian electronic music extraordinaire sequences and mixes his tracks using state-of-the-art programs and equipment.

The album starts off with Make Believe, looping tunes that are quite familiar to cartoon shows and fantasy themed videos giving it a very childish and whimsical impression. It is then followed by Blast Off which is video game music in its purest form. It has a strong indication of retro 8-bit awesomeness.

Hardcore Really Hardcore Really Hardcore stays true to its name by playing fast paced drumming and pulsating thumps of synthesized sounds. Yuzo No Daiboken with its Japaneseque title is a simple monotonous track with kawaii vocals to brush up the Zen-like mood.

The album ends with a three minute bonus track entitled Paradise Mirage that will transport you to a new world of computer generated tunes and melodies.

Robot Brainstronaut Blastoff gives you seventeen futuristic tracks that will tickle not only your auditory senses but also your playful imagination. A must listen to unleash the creativity inside you.

Roughquest: Hybrid EP

Coming in as the 12th release from the Cut Records roster, Roughquest and its Hybrid EP is certainly living up to expectations.

Hailing from Berlin, “James brings us some strong experimental bass-weight in the form of the three-track Hybrid EP.”

Exploring dub step, techno and infusing it with tribal as well as world music; the three-song EP is a hodge podge of grooves and synths inside out. You’ll find plenty of interesting moments here.

Creating a beautiful fusion of rhythm and style, Hybrid contains great quality content despite being only a three track compilation.

From the start, Out of You, begins the compilation with a dark melancholic vibe. Incorporating vocal snippets and unsteady beats, the song exudes a trippy feel that makes for a great mood setter. The track lasts for more than 7 minutes, hypnotizing and mesmerizing along the way. On the other hand, Northern Lights, is a more uptempo affair. It’s a track that employs percussion and tribal samples that help create a wonderful dance floor/rave track.

Hybrid EP closes off with, The Menace which is nothing but atmospheric throbbing beats. There are minimal vocal snippets on this one. Flowing like a passive mental though, the track employs occasional guitars and synths while being surrounded with a steady beat.

Although they’re fairly new, Cut Music has pretty much established themselves as one of the netlabels out there who hand out great quality, not to mention free, ambient electronic music compilations. Roughquest’s Hybrid EP is no exception. It has all the right elements to turn your boring little shindig into something worth remembering. Check it out and grab the download.

Cult Classic Records Present: Friends and Family

One of the newest kids on the block, Cult Classic Record is an online netlabel that aims to share and promote new talent in the world of music. Mainly focusing on trip hop, jazz and ambient beats, the label has quite a few artists under their roster.

Friends and Family is an attempt to compile some of the best tracks from these musicians, and showcase what they have to offer in just one place.

It’s offered absolutely free over BandCamp and is an awesome way to discover new artists in the genre.

Friends and Family is both a simple and complicated record. It’s composed of 15 strong tracks that hail from the label’s own artists (“family”) and artists associated with the label (“friends”).

The single, Per Sempre from London-producer, Two Days to Alaska starts the album. It’s a quiet and moody cut that mimics the dark gloominess after a morning rain. Beautifully weaving a variety of instruments like the cello and guitar while incorporating the occasional vocal samples; it sets up the atmosphere for the other tracks nicely.

Going through the record, you’ll find plenty of soothing gems on here. One track worth noting include the jazzy beat, Azure, performed by current Miami/Pittsburgh native, Rookie the Cook. Conjuring up steady drums with touches of pianos and subtle samples, the song easily slips in and enhances the atmosphere easily. Other cuts to take a listen to include, Kondor’s Soft Look, Berry Weight’s Sax on the Beach as well as the hypnotic number, Hunting for Dragons by Thomas Prime.

Family and Friends makes for great company if all you want to do is relax and enjoy a gloomy morning. Cult Classic Records is stepping up to their promise of bringing the freshest talents they could find. It’s a great record that listeners shouldn’t pass up.

Superpoze: The Iceland Sound EP

Twenty year old French instrumentalist, Superpoze is making his second appearance here in the Frostclick blog. His previous album, Lost Cosmonaut, introduced us to his brand of downtempo hip hop inspired tracks.

The Iceland Sound EP is his latest effort and it’s as exciting as his previous releases. His resident sound is still present. Although this time, he incorporates a more laid-back, chillout style that’s both soothing as well as hypnotic.

Like much of Superpoze’s tracks, you’ll find yourself gently tapping or bobbing your head to the beats in this one. There’s a laid back vibe mixed with a masterwork of layers, that helps make each single standout. Each song is enjoyable from beginning to end which is rare for any musician or producer to achieve.

Title track, The Iceland Sound, welcomes listeners with a poppy smooth tribal beat. The beatmaker often infuses his tracks with vocal snippets which adds a great depth. It’s essentially a great opening single and says a lot about Superpoze’s mastery. Meanwhile, London Alone serves as a staple club track while The Iceland Sound (Part 2) is slightly more upbeat compared to its first half.

On the other hand, the remaining singles are remixes done by three of the producer’s friends, namely, Zerolex, Samba De La Muerte, & Les Filles Et Les Garçons.

Overall, The Iceland Sound is imbued with the producer/beatmaker’s signature style. Like his previous albums, it’s a welcome respite if you want something to help you relax without making you fall asleep. Great EP to grab and download. Take a listen.
