After a long break in t-shirt availability, few weeks ago FrostWire has released a new t-shirt design. The t-shirts are currently available in the FrostWire store and come with 10 extra stickers and free worldwide shipping.

But that's not the whole story! With the spirit of open source, sharing and collaboration, the FrostWire team wanted everybody to be able to share the image, print their own T-shirt or do whatever else they would like to do with it, so they licensed it under a Creative Commons license.

The image is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-No Derivatives License, which means you can share the image, reprint it, etc - even for commercial purposes - as long as you attribute FrostWire to it and don't alter the design. Plus, to allow you to do whatever your imagination tells you to, we've linked a vector file to the download link above, so scaling & resolution is not an issue.

If you would like to be able to download other formats/sizes, let us know in the comments section below, and we will do our best to provide you with a download link.

The FrostWire team is constantly on top of the P2P & file sharing news striving to keep the application on the edge of technological developments. We have always had a clear vision of where things are headed in our little part of the Internet and we're proud to be a part of community that can adapt to changes very quickly.

In 2009 we saw a lot of talk about and many changes ocurrying to the most popular torrent tracker websites. We also observed an increase in general usage and understanding of the underlying technology and it’s benefits. Until now, FrostWire used legacy LimeWire technology to support torrent downloads and was able to decently serve our community torrent needs. We thought that decent was not enough.

Now FrostWire's BitTorrent engine has been entirely replaced and features all the power of a lightweight version of the Azureus BitTorrent Core under the hood.

Not only all the prior issues our users reported with torrents are gone, but downloading torrents with FrostWire is faster than ever. Torrent Bootstrapping has also significantly improved and in some cases the average download speeds are even 3x faster than with our previous torrent technology.

The introduction of gnutella based .torrent file search with our last release clearly stated our direction, a truly decentralized P2P network with the best of the BitTorrent and Gnutella networks.

BitTorrent Magnet Links Support
The new version of FrostWire also supports BitTorrent Magnets, meaning you only need to get special URL (no initial file downloads necessary) and FrostWire will fetch the Torrent Metadata on the P2P network (using the Azureus DHT technology).

.torrents can survive also in Gnutella
Now, not only will .torrent files survive in the Gnutella network, but they will be fully searchable [in gnutella] and ready to aid in BitTorrent downloads may those torrents ever be removed from web based indexing services.

Every member of the file sharing community will be able to share both the .torrent files as well as the actual content files allowing for the BitTorrent traffic to be fully de-centralized, thanks to Gnutella search and the BitTorrent DHT.

Other User Experience Updates
If you're not getting enough search results from your peers, or you are seeing too many spam and fake results, it's a good idea to Refresh your connections. FrostWire will fetch a list of healthy and recently crawled ultrapeers willing to take more peers.

Our community members repeatedly told us that the percentage indicator for download progress was not enough, so we added a new column that shows the progress of the download in bytes. Thanks for your feedback.

Derek Clegg’s newest release KJC is a cathartic effort, exploring mature subject matter ranging from death, to love, to even the current events swirling around us today. His lyrics are coated in a lush body of sound which will be pleasing to any avid listener of the Indie-Folk genre.

Licensed under a Creative Commons license, "KJC" is now available as a free download for everybody to be able to enjoy this great production and share with their friends and family.

Clegg is Michigan-born, now living in Chicago, IL where he records and performs his brand of Pop/Indie-Folk with a dab of Country straight from the heartland. He works alone, crafting his music from the bottom up; from the initial writing, to engineering and recording in the studio; and it would seem that Derek Clegg has hit a good stride with KJC after having already recorded three albums. It’s exciting to see this sort of effort put out by solo artists, creating quality music without the help of a record company or a producer.

KJC manages to mix the old with the new, a quality which should be familiar to fans of this genre, however this album does present something familiar while at the same time embracing uniqueness. Clegg, a self-described “multi-instrumentalist”, mixes in countless sounds throughout each track. Standard indie instruments obviously make their presence known—including the ubiquitous soft-handed drumset—alongside drum loops, alien synthesizers, marimba, and possibly a few other things. Normally this would just sound cluttered, but Clegg’s complete aversion to heavy handed delivery gives the listener a mature sense of calm and open space, while his voice sails atop. Also, while the singer does play a majority of the instruments on the album, Mike Madden (drums) and Randy Flinders (bass) contribute their talents on "Hope", "Home", and "Cannot Change".

The breakout songs of this album, like “Home” and “The Good Die Young” show Clegg in his element, marrying rich instrumental textures with substantive lyrics and confident—yet implicitly vulnerable—singing. As a Michigan native with songs of middle class strife in tow, like the song “Hope”, we need artists like Clegg to tell the story of the common man, which he does so well in his lyrics.

I would say its quirky acoustic indie pop with a splash of alt country. I like a lot of different music but the one thing I care most about is good songwriting. If the song doesn't get stuck in your head then its probably not that good. No mater what form or genre. If you like strong songwriting with a good melody and tightly laced harmonies. I would say that my music is for you. If you like songs that are well thought out and sound like there was a lot of thought and work in them. You should check out my music.

We've put together a compilation album with the hit songs of each one of the artists promoted on FrostWire and FrostClick to add up to the first million downloads.

All the music in this compilation available for free or under creative commons by these 21 wonderful artists. Their music has been distributed through the BitTorrent and Gnutella networks with FrostWire.

World Class Music Experience
In November 2008 we came up with the idea to team up with FrostWire to really go after world class content creators that were willing to share their work for free. At the beginning the search was hard, we had to come up with a series of requirements so that we could guarantee great quality content and it quickly became the rule of thumb that if the entire team would have their music in our portable mp3 players that was a strong sign that the artist should be promoted.

This compilation brings you the best of the best in free music that the FrostClick Team came across during the first months of 2009. In only 21 weeks we had our first 1,000,000 copies distributed, some artists reaching over 75 thousand downloads during their promotion (7 to 10 days), nowadays FrostWire artists can get over 100 thousand downloads during their runs on the FrostWire welcome screen.

Virtual Booklet
After years of buying hundreds of CDs and many times being frustrated with lousy CD Booklets (no lyrics, no cool pictures) we decided you should not suffer the same disappointment with our compilation. You're not only going to download a compilation with high quality mp3 hits, but you will get a Virtual Booklet with 44 high resolution pages which you can decide to print, or see with your favorite image viewer (you can even redistribute them since the art is all licensed under Creative Commons as well)

For each artist we've included 2 high resolution booklet pages with information about the artist, song, license, number of downloads, facts and where available we've even put the lyrics of the song to sing along.

A web page (booklet.html) has been included at the root of the compilation folder, you can open it to see the booklet in a very convenient way. Images will automatically adjust their sizes to your web browser window, an they're presented in pairs, on the left the artist on the right: song lyrics, interviews or important facts about the artist.

The compilation booklet also includes some of the best photos sent by FrostWire users, featuring FrostWire inspired Art and pictures of the FrostWire Stickers all over the world.

The Booklet has been created keeping in mind the standard size of the regular CD Booklets in case you wish to print for a physical CD.

This is a screenshot of a Twitter update made earlier today by the band Georgia Wonder, which agreed to promote their free ep here on FrostClick.

We think they've done well over 35 thousand downloads so far, but since the torrent is being tracked by The Pirate Bay, we can't tell exactly how many downloads it has received so far since this number is not made public by TPB. (If you guys do track download numbers internally, it'd be awesome if you made an exception and told us)
