CrunchSMS adds chat style bubbles to the normal messaging. So the sent messages are in a green bubble, whereas received messages are in a steel grey bubble (very iPhone-like, if I may add). Further, users can also view contact pictures within the messenger, surely a very neat feature. Users will love the quick-reply feature, under which a reply is possible directly from the homescreen itself.

Another great addition that in my opinion is highly welcomed, is the support for Emoji icons. These icons break away from the conventional smileys and add a galore of animation for extra fun; meaningful and awesome twist to the entire conversation. The app also supports for a signature feature, precisely helpful when messaging an unknown number or for official purposes.

CrunchSMS is a great app and adds extra functionality to the entire Blackberry default messenger. Being a free app, the developer relies on adverts. So, users who just cannot tolerate in-app adverts can purchase the license key for an ad free experience. Otherwise, the CrunchSMS is a full-version app with no limitations whatsoever. Blackberry users, its time for a fresh touch to your device.

Ever though about bringing words to life in your text messages? Well than make sure to try out Zlango, an app that really adds the zing to the "Ohh, so boring text messages" with the icons, smileys, backgrounds and the work.

Created by Zlango Ltd., the developers have done a fantastic job with this app. College-goers and the youth would adore the whole look, feel and twist the app gives to their text messages.

Zlango promises to revamp the text messaging service forever, by adding icons to every corresponding word. So when you write 'Hot', Zlango will add a fiery pan in correspondence to it. It is that cool. So, every word you type is accompanied by a visually rich icons. It is worth remembering that that the app is exactly like texting, so do not get all worked up; if you need to send a text to your boss, you can always send a mundane, text only, message. Zlango does not force you with a 24x7 coolness license.

The recent version 2.10.62 comes with many feature updates, such as, ZlangOut (icon messages for social-network sharing), Auto Suggestion (replace words with icons or auto-write in icons), Click-Switch (swap between Classic, Urban and Gorgeous themes on-the-go), Zlango On/Off (enable and disable Zlango), Transform old text to Zlango (previously received messages can be coverted with icons), Pop-Up reply (instantly read and reply to message from the homescreen).

Zlango is a step ahead from other third-party text editors, as it adds a new twist to texts with icons that represent the words; breaking away from the traditional yellow smileys on almost all devices these days. Overall, if not a very productive one, Zlango is a real fun app to play around with and especially while texting friends and relatives. A thumbs-up on that front.

In search of an all new way to tweet? Well than, say hello to Tweetgram. The app lets you play around with pictures and various fonts for a more intuitive way of self-expression. Tweegram comes from the makers of Instagram, and allows the user to publish all his/her thoughts on their Instagram timeline.

So what really is the big deal? Instagram allowed users to post pictures directly on Twitter, but with Tweetgram, users can post messages directly to their Instagram timeline without uploading a photo.

Tweegram gives users the freedom to choose from multiple of templates, then choose a font style, write the message, publish, and Voila! The image is uploaded on your Instagram timeline, as well as your Twitter account. Basically, Tweegram kills two birds with one stone, with the message being treated as a picture on Instagram; and as a Tweet-in-picture on Twitter.

Coming to the User-Interface, the app looks really slick with it's non-cluttered approach. What will make hardcore Tweeps jump with joy is the updated Tweegram version 1.2, which eliminates any limit on characters. Wow! The app also provides an all-new option to upgrade to the PRO version for $1.99 from within the app itself. The PRO version comes armed with newer templates and effects for your very own pictures.

Facebook for iPad (Official App)

After the very successful launch of the iPad & iPad 2, users continually waited for the official Facebook App for the tablet but the wait seemed to be in vain. So almost 7 months after the iPad 2 was released, the Facebook app for iPad has made its homecoming with version 4.0.2.

Users around the globe were frustrated by using the Facebook for iPhone app on their iPad as it appeared to be pixelated in 2x mode and the window mode just did not do justice to the high-resolution 9.7-inch display of the device.

First lets talk about why the delay of an App took place. It is reported by the developer that the Facebook for iPad app was ready-to-be-served long back, but Facebook kept it on hold for more than 5 months due to a reported tiff with Apple over the Ping network, and also about certain terms and condition that Apple could not agree to.

So what is really in store with the official Facebook app for iPad? Well, you get full-screen, hi-res photos giving a total feel of a photo album; photos appear sharper, clearer and are viewed better on a 9.7-inch display. Now there is added functionality to play games within the app itself, so Zynga Poker, Mafia Wars, Cityville, Farmville, Sims Social are all a part of the iPad.

The app is split into two parts, the left column sporting quick access to features such as News Feed, Messages, Friends, Nearby, Apps, Customized friend-lists and the likes, and the right hand pane with anything you might be presently viewing. However, the functionality that receives the biggest 'thumbs up' for me is when the app runs in both, landscape and portrait mode.

The app itself is very streamlined and resembles the desktop version of Facebook. It adopts a very non-cluttered approach and adds a bit of extra security.
So what is there to do? All iPad 1st gen and 2nd gen users head to the app store and update! Remained cautious thou, as many users have faced some issues with the app, little glitches which hopefully will be ironed out with the new release.

DropCopy - easy file sharing between computers

For mac users everywhere who are looking for an easy way to share files from one computer to their iPhone, iPad or other mac computers, DropCopy is the perfect software to have. Looking like an alien ring logo sitting on your desktop, this little software is quite easy to use and will definitely save time and effort in transferring files.

With its simple drag and drop function, the program makes it possible to share documents, images, and other things between computers that have DropCopy installed. The program is free for personal use, allowing you to hook up to 3 devices. If you need to share with more devices, there's a Pro version available for a certain fee.

DropCopy works by locating another copy of the program running on your local network. For computers that are not connected to your LAN, it's possible to manually encode the computers IP address so the program can locate it. Once both computers have DropCopy turned on and has found each other, a small transparent circle will appear signalling that you can now drag and drop the files you want to transfer.

When dropping a file, the icon for the program will showcase a percentage and also give you a heads up once the transfer has been done. It's really that easy. If you're in a public area and worried about having people transfer malicious files onto your computer, it's possible to turn off the "automatic receive" option so you have control over who can share their files with you.

Moreover, there are two additional benefits you can get from the program. First is it has the capability to send text messages between computers that have it installed. A pop-up window will show up indicating that another user has a message for you. Second, it has the capacity to perform clipboard sharing as well. This is very convenient for a lot of users.

Overall, the program is very useful. Sure, the drawback of having to pay an amount if you use it on more than 3 devices is a bit of a hassle but for home/personal use, Drop Copy is perfect. It's convenient and won't even take up too much space.

If you're like me and you just hate having to use small keyboards when typing messages on your smart phone or computer, then go ahead and give Speak-A-Message a try. Even though most of us are already adept and have no problems typing away in front of our little gadgets all day, there are those who prefer to just talk and record a message for one reason or another.

With this nifty tool, it's easier to send voice messages or transcribe a spoken message into text and send it off as an email. It's a great piece of software to have if you have typing problems too.

The program offers an unlimited home edition that features all the basic requirements you need.

Speak-A-Message contains tons of great features. As mentioned, the main function of the program is to record voice messages and enable users to send this off as emails. The recipients can opt between listening to the audio mail or simply reading off a transcription of the message.

One of the nice things about the software is that it has great compression capabilities; turning a 4-minute audio into merely 500kb. The quality of the audio is also quite good and doesn't have any problems playing in most audio players. When it comes to identifying a file, the author can input his name and a title for easy identification. For sensitive subject matter, the file can be marked as private to alert the recipient.

If you use outlook regularly, the program easily integrates itself into the menu for easier access. It's also possible to attach voice notes, comments and even recordings of talks to MS Word documents and powerpoints.

This licensed freeware works on Windows7, Vista and Windows XP. Even though the interface might be a bit old-fashioned, it manages to get the job done. Speak-A-Message might not be for everyone but it is a very useful tool for anybody who has trouble typing or simply prefers voice messages to text.

FrostWire for Android - out of Beta and on the Android Market

The FrostWire team has worked long and hard to deliver the mobile version your favorite file sharing software to you. Now, they have finally taken the Beta off the software and introduced the application to the Android Market.

FrostWire for Android is the first mobile application that allows you to search, browse and share files locally and over the Internet using your Wi-Fi connection in a P2P fashion.

Here are some of it's features:
– search & download files from millions of devices
– browse the files of your closest peers (about 20 right now)
– download files from others or suggest a file from your device for everybody to download (ever been in a party and took some great pictures everybody else just had to have? If all your friends have FrostWire, it's really easy to share! No uploading to a website or attaching to email necessary!)
– Publish files to your favorite Social Networks (there are other apps dedicated to this, but if you just got a hot file from your friend, you are not going to want to switch apps and search your drive)
– Public P2P Chatroom with file sharing features (awesome if you have questions or just want to chat with some strangers!)
– Send private messages with attached files (that was the one I was waiting for the most - to be able to send somebody a file without attaching it to an email or having have to copy it to the computer is just a lifesaver! remember the hoops you had to jump through to send a file that was too big to attach! no more hassle!)
– Absolute control of what you share (you can share everything or decide not to share some things by file type or on file to file basis)
– Browse and rename your own files (I think it works even a bit better than the file browser included on the Android. There are other applications that fill in that hole, but FW just does it for you in addition)
– Auto-updates

The mobile version of FrostWire still operates in a P2P fashion, but connects only to other mobile devices running Android operating system (other phones & tablets). Nevertheless, with a third of all smartphones sold in US in a second quarter of 2010 running Android, the number of possible devices is quickly increasing. Can you think of a friend that ditched the iPhone for a new shiny Android?

All in less than 400Kb - the team is just getting started. It is fresh out of Beta and with some heavy usage, you might find some bugs, but it is well worth your download and time. It quickly became one of my most used apps on the Android.

The FrostWire team has also given everybody the right to choose whether or not they want to pay for the software. The desktop app has always been and always will be a free application, but with the mobile one, you can choose to get it free from the FrostWire website or to pay for it and support the team's effort on the Android Market.
