Snapchat by Snapchat, Inc is an iPhone app that lets you send photos that will self destruct according to the time you specify. So if you want to send a photo that a recipient can view for say 6 seconds, set the timer to it. Send the picture and it will be visible on their device for 6 seconds before disappearing for good.

The app is very easy to use. When you first start it up, you will be prompted for a username and password for your account. As soon as your account is set up Snapchat will turn on your iPhone�s camera and you can take any photo you want.

The button in the center of the app is the shutter trigger and the icon next to it that resembles a 3D box lets you see the images that you sent out. On the right is a menu icon that lists your friends and other users of Snapchat. The menu icon also has links to the app�s Facebook and Twitter pages.

After taking a picture Snapchat will display the photo you took. Tapping the X icon will let you take more photos if you need to. The download icon allows you to see the image saved on your phone so all you need to do now is to press send.

You can use the Friends list on the menu to choose a recipient and a confirmation message will appear asking if you want to send the picture over to that recipient for x number of seconds. Next you will see the timer button and you can set it anywhere from 1 to 10 seconds before the picture you sent self destructs. Perfect for the night out on the town when you want to share some crazy photos with a friend but you dont want that friend to share it with everyone else.

Springpad for instance, lets you save your recipes and then arrange the ingredients so you have a ready-made list, and if you�re a movie buff, it will let you know when your selection goes up on Netflix. In fact, the app is flexible enough that it can save videos, activities, maps, hotels, diners etc, so it can also double up as a vacation planner.

With Springpad, you can bookmark favorite sites, and you can also create your own to-do list via its handy alerts, perfect if you got our hands full with work. While it works fine as a solo app, there are also collaborative features so you can share tasks, videos, notes and links with friends.

Another nice feature of Springpad is that you can use it show images even with captions, and just like other clipboard style apps you can invite your friends to share their favorite drinks and food.

Saving is also pretty easy here; not only can you clip and save articles, but you can record a memo, take pictures and save them instantly. Springpad also has an extensive search feature so you can find whatever you need.

Tiny Post allows you to add photo captions to your images. Designed for the iPhone and iPod, you can use it to add words of wisdom, humor, cynicism or whatever else you can think of. Developed by Beeem Inc, it lets you add a new level of personalization for all your pictures. Plus you can share the these images on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram after editing them.

The app is very easy to use. You start by making a simple registration and once that�s done, you can log in using your email, Twitter or Facebook account. If you have used Facebook, Twitter or Pinterest before, the interface will look very familiar. Once you have launched the app, tap the camera icon at the lower left of the display. Take a photo (you can do it inside the app) scale or move it if you want and add the desired text.

Tiny Post has a sliding menu bar that makes it easy to go through the menus, settings, fees, yore profile and tags. With one touch you can find the most popular photos on Tiny Post�s network and just like Instagram you can do a search via tags. Not only can you check your posts out easily, but you can also follow other users.

After you are done writing the text, go to the �Tag & Share� screen. Aside from adding captions, you can also mark the location or tag friends. Once you are done, highlight the icon for Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr or any of the other social network links on the app to share it with your friends.

The app can link to several recipe websites. You can create an account on their website so all the recipes are synchronized. IPad users can attach tags to recipes, useful when your collection grows. There are a lot of features in the app. But you can think of it as a meal planner, food shopping guide and recipe organizer. Pepperplate Cooking Planner makes it easy to sort and search recipes you made.

Creating recipes is a no-brainer; there are fields for the recipe title, cooking / preparation time, ingredients and yield. Enter the correct information. You can print a shopping list from recipes you make. Items you have bought can be removed.

All ingredients can be sorted by their place in the grocery or by category. The app is intelligent enough to store items in their proper category, (i.e., seafood, spices etc). Unlike other social networking apps where everything you post is there for the world to see, Between is private. You can share photographs, messages and memories with your special someone. There is real time chatting. Plus there are a lot of emoticons, hearts and smiley faces you can use.

For couples, Between offers them a secluded space. They can freely share messages, sentiments and moments with no worry of someone snooping in. Apart from private text messages, you can even use voice mail at no cost. The built-reminders make it easy to plan dates. As an open source video and music player, Miro has a lot in common with other free players. But it goes beyond what the usual freeware offers. Aside from managing audio and video, it also doubles as an audio/video shopping center.

Miro allows users to import their libraries from iTunes. There is support for Android syncing. If you are looking for the iTunes equivalent in Android devices, this is it. Aside from supporting all popular video and audio formats, you can download or subscribe to podcasts.

If you are using iTunes, Miro�s interface will be familiar. There is a section for managing music files, videos and other devices hooked up. If you want to buy or download something, Google Play and the AppStore are right there too. After you download a file, it�s just a few clicks away to sync them.

Also included on the left pane are your playlists, a video search tool, sources and podcasts. If you are playing videos, the playback controls will be at the bottom. Miro is also compatible with Kindle Fire. It also syncs with tablets. With this app, you can update all devices quickly.

For many people though, the biggest benefit is Miro�s ability to do different things. You don�t have to leave the program to buy or download. You can stay in and let it sync files as you manage them. You don�t need to install a YouTube downloader because the program can do it. If two Miro apps are on a network, you�ll be able to share music and videos.

Miro is cross-platform so it can run on Windows, Mac and Linux.

To use Mendeley, you need to sign up for a free account. Your first name, last name and email address are required. You can download the free software after registration is complete. There is a setup wizard to guide you. You will receive a confirmation email. Click and you will gain access to the Dashboard. From the Dashboard you can go to People, Groups, My Library Papers and the other options.

You can start using it. You can add your PDF files, research papers and notes. The interface makes it easy to use all the tools at your disposal. On the network you will have access to materials posted by your fellow researchers, technical databases, scientific and medical papers.

Mendeley makes it easy to share information with other researchers. Information is synced on mobile and desktop computers. The program is easy to use thanks to its navigation panel and toolbars. The interface is similar to an email client. You can use them to sync data and folders.

The toolbar buttons consist of Sync Library, Create Folder and Add Documents, all of which are self-explanatory. You can drag and drop documents for easy arrangements. Android is one of the leading smartphone platforms out there, and the ever-growing App Market just leaves the user spoilt with choices. Apps ranging from casual-free games to hardcore 3D console action, and utility apps that make life a whole-lot easier.

With all this choice, however, there is a big drawback – and that is the storage-space. All the apps, once installed, get saved in the phone memory and not on the expandable one, taking up to much space off the already limited phone storage. Here comes in the life-savior (memory-savior), App 2 SD.

App 2 SD is very efficient in what it does. Previously users needed to check whether an app supports SD card storage, but now with App 2 SD, the app automatically moves the application to the SD card without any user-interference. Memory management issue is very streamlined with this app, and it is a must have for any Android user facing memory management issues.

When the app is first fired-up there are three tabs on the screen in which the apps are segregated. 1) On Phone, 2) On SD card, and 3) Phone Only. The task is quite simple, all apps that can be moved to the SD card appear under the On Phone tab. A user needs only to mark the given app, click on the option “Move to SD card” and Volia! its done. To move the app back to the phone, the same procedure is followed.

App 2 SD does not create much fuss with the UI either. Its neat, clean, uncluttered and simple to use. The app shows the total and available space on the Phone internal memory, as well as on the SD card. There is also an added functionality of 1-tap clear all app cache, a neat feature to keep the device memory uncluttered.

App 2 SD is available in two versions, a free one and a paid-version. The paid version does nothing great, but just terminates the in-app advertisements and costs $1.69. The biggest selling-point for App 2 SD lies in the fact, that there is no competitor or related app to it.

Android Tablets which are running Android 3.0 do not support App 2 SD; also there is known functionality problem with HTC Thunderbolt not updated to Android OS 2.3.4.
