Megapolis is a city builder game for the IOS and Android. Published by Social Quantum Ltd, it’ concept and gameplay should be very familiar to anyone who has played a city building game before, but this one has some new twists that give it a unique feeling.

In Megapolis you will build different kinds of buildings in your city to meet various goals that will appear at the side of your device�s screen. After you create the buildings, you will get experience points and soft currency. Gain enough experience points gaining ability to create more impressive buildings.

Megapolis also lets you create more structures by collecting taxes from these establishments. One of the nice things about this game is there are no time restrictions so you can play the game for as long as you like. There are in app purchases for the game if you want to buy premium items, but they are not necessary. Also, you can get those premium items in other ways rather than paying for them, like playing with your friends.

Just like a real city you need to build water towers and power stations to meet the needs of your city as it grows. Since each building has a different power and water supply need, you have to manage your resources well. What this means is you have to strike a balance between city building and managing your power and water resources.

In spite of this, Megapolis is much easier to play than other city simulation games on the PC, and the interface and gameplay is much more user friendly.

There�s no shortage of real time strategy games, but many are simply clones of each other. Fortunately, Unknown Horizons is a notable exception. This 2D RTS game from the�Unknown�Horizons Development Team focuses on city building and economy, but it has a lot of extra features that make it stand out from the rest. It all starts with a small settlement, and from there you can expand into a powerful colony.

To build up your colony, you have to provide your people with goods and other necessities, and to expand you have to collect taxes too. As you come into contact with other colonies you must strike a balance between diplomacy, strategic trade and balancing the economy.

Unknown Horizons provides plenty of challenges even at the beginning. You begin with a ship full of settlers and you have to manage whatever meager resources are available to survive and explore the place. You must not only provide them basic necessities, but also the things they need to make a living.

Manage properly your colony and it will turn into a town with more and more residents. This will give you an opportunity to increase revenue, but you also have a lot more on your hands. You can also decide whether you want to live in peace with your neighbors, or build up a military, attack and conquer them.

The game graphics are pretty good, and the gameplay is smooth with no glitches. Once you get the hang of Unknown Horizons, you can set up residential and industrial sections, and also arrange your commodities for trading with other peoples. In short this is an addictive, compelling game.

Tetriblox is a Tetris-like game but with some interesting innovations. Published by Random Salad Games, it combines classic Tetris with modern graphics and addictive gameplay. You have to make lines by organizing the falling blocks. You have to do this within the playing area. You get more points by creating more lines.

Tetriblox has two game modes and two control schemes. You can play with your buddies on the Web and match scores. The touch and button controls make the game easy to learn. One of the nice things about the game is the save feature.

You don�t have to start all over again; the save allows a player to pick up where they leave off. The game is compatible with tablets. The innovative gravity mode adds a different dimension to the game.

Old time gamers will love Tetriblox, as it harkens back to the days when the game was a hit on DOS. For anyone who has played Tetris before, they will become very comfortable with it. For those who haven�t this game serves as a great introduction. The gameplay is simple but can be very hard to master at the higher levels. This is what makes the game so addictive.

While challenging, you have good control over the blocks. There are a lot of paid Tetris-like apps, but his free game from Random Salad Games is as good as any of them.

Tetriblox has many similarities with Tetris of course, but the game has some very nice graphics and sound effects. The music is great and increases in pace as you reach the upper levels.

Simutrans is an open source transport simulator game. Your objective is to create networks of transportation. You are in charge of developing signals, tunnels, bridges, level crossings, quays and similar structures. The game is developed by the Simutrans Development Team.

You earn money by transporting people via high speed or commuter trains. The money you earn can be used to build even more structures. Simutrans offers electric, diesel and steam engines. These units have unique properties. You also control aircraft, trucks, buses, ships and ferries. You will even get the chance to build Maglevs and monorails.

By transporting people around, your city and the areas around it will prosper and grow. You will see buses moving around and trucks carrying cargo to and from. Management is not limited to vehicles. All of these activities make the game quite addictive.

Played around with a lot of ass kicking zombies? Well, this time around fight for survival with zombies the size of Mario. Yes, these zombies are far from intimidating, but they surely are out for a kill and the their meal is none other than you.

Developed by Italy Games, yes the same developer who have given Android their best Bowling and Chess game, Zombie Dash is another masterpiece on the Android market – offered for free. This is one game that is sure to hook users to their device for some casual gaming game.

The game takes 90% cue from the iOS game Jetpack Joyride by Halfbrick Studios, from the power-up methods, obstacles, shooting styles, the zombies, to the main lead. The other 10% that is the original take on the environment. Nonetheless, the developer manages to add a bit of panache to it and make it look more original than it might sound.

In-game, players are given the sole responsibility of saving their city which has been swarmed by brain-dead zombies and fight for survival at the same time. Gameplay is very intuitive and addicting with the inclusion of jump and shoot button equipped on either sides of the screen. Old-time gamer are in for a treat as the game allows for a total Mario like feature, under which players can jump on top of the other zombies eliminating them as well as hitting bricks to get the necessary power-ups.

Overall, this is a great game and a thumbs up is surely deserved by the developer for the awesome mash-up they have cooked up. The scoring point for this game would be the fact that Jetpack Joyride is an iOS exclusive, so Zombie Dash coming to the Android ecosystem just aims at capturing the market ASAP. My personal rating 4.5 out of 5. Happy gaming everyone.

Ice Age Village is the official game tie-in for Ice Age. Created by top developer Gameloft, it is an adventure game for everyone. While primarily designed to promote Ice Age, it’s actually pretty cool.

The game takes place at the onset of the Ice Age (keeping in line with the films). This leads to the breakup of the continent of Pangaea. This situation means you have to find new homes for the characters (the same as those in the films).

The gameplay is similar to other games where you have to create buildings. However, Ice Age Village has some features that make it interesting. Players can raise and breed all sorts of animals, prehistoric birds, mammoths, sabre toothed tigers and more.

The ability to breed animals in Ice Age Village gives the building structure game a new dimension. The progression is rapid so you don’t have to spend a lot of time waiting for something to happen. The families earn money quickly so it makes the game more fun. In short, Ice Age Village rewards players who breed animals well, giving you impetus to keep playing. And there is a lot to see and enjoy here.

When it comes to free real time strategy games, 0AD by Wildfire Games is one of those that stand out. Although under heavy development, the game is already very playable. Like other RTS games, you have to manage resources, build an army and manage an economy.

There are six civilizations: the Carthaginians, Romans, Celts, Hellenes, Persians and Iberians. Each one has strengths and weaknesses. When you play the game, the resources are displayed at the screen bottom. The mini-map is at the left. To select all units nearby, double click. You can assign units to perform tasks like building structures. Of course you can order them to attack the enemy.

Building structures is where 0AD really excels. You need to use your units to collect resources. These will be used for making different structures. But it is possible to get some civilians to help in the building. There are lots of different structures here. Players can have units perform tasks together. Everything from farms to towers can be built. Once your fortress is made, make sure there are units to protect it.

0AD has some pretty good graphics. There are particles effects, lifelike shadows and animated water complete with reflection and refraction. The game has a level editor too.

The maps are separated into provinces that units can capture. The rich resources in the province will then be yours and can be used to enhance your military. The maps in 0AD are realistic. They are set upon real locations and borders in the ancient world. There is multiplayer support.

0AD can be run on Mac OS X, Linux and Windows 2000, XP, 2003, XP64, Vista.
