Fantasica is a card collecting game from publisher Mobage, no strangers to these types of games. The primary focus here is still collecting and enhancing, but numerous tweaks have been added that make the game more interesting than others out there. Widelands is a strategy game that has you playing a clan�s regent and attempt to expand your territory. To do this you need to manage your resources, trade with other clans and if the situation calls for it, be prepared to do battle to stake your claim to a particular land. This open source game is developed by the Widelands Development Team.

In the beginning you start at your small headquarters with an aim to manage whatever limited resources you have there. As you play the game your settlement grows and you will gain access to more materials, but this also means you must become more skilled in handing them. In Widelands, all of your clan members will do their part in producing food, gold, iron, wood and other materials necessary for your community to grow.

As you expand and conquer more territories you will come across the other inhabitants like the Atlanteans, Barbarians and Imperials among other clans. Some are friendly and will be open for business and trading, while others will be more hostile. It�s up to you if you want to live peacefully and prosper via commerce or rule the world. If you want to be a world conquering hero (or tyrant) you have to train an army, which is possible here.

While the game has a lot in common with other strategy games, it also has its own unique features. For instance, emphasis is set on roads, as they play a major role in shaping the economy and all goods that are transported have to be processed and refined. In short, this is a detailed and absorbing game.

There�s no shortage of real time strategy games, but many are simply clones of each other. Fortunately, Unknown Horizons is a notable exception. This 2D RTS game from the�Unknown�Horizons Development Team focuses on city building and economy, but it has a lot of extra features that make it stand out from the rest. It all starts with a small settlement, and from there you can expand into a powerful colony.

To build up your colony, you have to provide your people with goods and other necessities, and to expand you have to collect taxes too. As you come into contact with other colonies you must strike a balance between diplomacy, strategic trade and balancing the economy.

Unknown Horizons provides plenty of challenges even at the beginning. You begin with a ship full of settlers and you have to manage whatever meager resources are available to survive and explore the place. You must not only provide them basic necessities, but also the things they need to make a living.

Manage properly your colony and it will turn into a town with more and more residents. This will give you an opportunity to increase revenue, but you also have a lot more on your hands. You can also decide whether you want to live in peace with your neighbors, or build up a military, attack and conquer them.

The game graphics are pretty good, and the gameplay is smooth with no glitches. Once you get the hang of Unknown Horizons, you can set up residential and industrial sections, and also arrange your commodities for trading with other peoples. In short this is an addictive, compelling game.

The game of checkers has been around for a long time, and made their way into desktops laptops and smartphones. Checkers Free from Optime Software is one of the best looking ones for the iPhone yet.

The design is simple and clean, something that has become a trademark of the company. Controls are intuitive; tap a piece to select and tap to where you want to put it. The game has an undo button in case you move in the wrong area. The options menu allows you to turn the sound effects on or off, use forced jumps or not and many others.

The graphics are nice, the subtle colors easy on the eyes. The sound when you move the piece is realistic. You also hear groans when you lose and cheers when you win. Single players can choose the level of play. Move the slider to the right to increase the difficulty level. Warning: moving to the extreme right will make the game very difficult.

Checkers Free has pretty good (and challenging) AI. You can go up against another player if you want to as well.

Fans of the classics will enjoy this game. Its addictive and can be played anywhere. If you have never played checkers before, this is a great way to get into it.

If a cute game is on your list, then Brightwood Adventures is just the thing for you. This little treat is definitely something that will keep the younger folks in the house, busy for a while, giving you some well deserved break.

The game was created by Kiwi Inc, a developer that really garnered impressive download figures with their previous game, Monster Park.

Brightwood Adventures is an RPG game, but this time around it is for the kiddies and they are sure to love it. Nothing very complicated; no confusing controls, everything is nice and smooth. The main objective of the player is to build a wonderful village located in the Dark Forest with the help of Wally, Rowan, and the rest of the gang.

This is a typical management game, a really complete adventure in which the user should explore the dark forest and help the villagers feel comfortable in their new home.
On shooting up the game for the first time, a tutorial will explain everything on how to go about the game, and the ways to collect rewards and various awards.

Overall, the game comes with some neat graphics, playable missions, cute characters and everything that would keep the kids smiling. Being free, the in-app purchases are part-and-parcel of the package, but nothing that is forced upon the user.

Simutrans is an open source transport simulator game. Your objective is to create networks of transportation. You are in charge of developing signals, tunnels, bridges, level crossings, quays and similar structures. The game is developed by the Simutrans Development Team.

You earn money by transporting people via high speed or commuter trains. The money you earn can be used to build even more structures. Simutrans offers electric, diesel and steam engines. These units have unique properties. You also control aircraft, trucks, buses, ships and ferries. You will even get the chance to build Maglevs and monorails.

By transporting people around, your city and the areas around it will prosper and grow. You will see buses moving around and trucks carrying cargo to and from. Management is not limited to vehicles. You need to be certain factories are stocked. They must have trucks ready to carry cargo and goods. As the area grows, new routes have to be generated. You also have to manage the city�s finances. Created by Lucky Games, Archer brings the excitement of archery into your Windows Phone. If you have never tried archery before, the sport probably doesn’t seem much. It’s actually thrilling and Lucky Games has done a good job bringing it to life.

The basic gameplay of course, has you shooting arrows with a bow. It’s quite challenging (and fun) to try and hit the targets. Your goal is to score as many points as possible under 20 seconds. If you hit the bull’s eye, you will get extra time.

This is a multi-level game so you will be playing this for a while. The graphics are very smooth and the animation is fluid. Archer is great in single player mode. But it’s Play vs. mode allows you to play against another player, which is more fun. You take turns shooting and comparing scores. The game is well designed; there’s no need to worry about the game crashing while you’re in the middle of scoring run. Archer also excels in the sound department. It is the closest thing you can get to being a real archer.

To play the game, you need to pull down the bow. Move your hand along the screen to aim your arrow. Wind when you have the target in sight. To shoot the arrow, take your finger off. This sounds easy, but it takes practice. Aiming gets harder when trying to shoot a moving target. If your shooting skills are rusty, spend some time in training mode.

Archer is a free game and you’ll have a lot of fun playing it. Even if you have never picked a bow and arrow before, Archer will more than pass the time.

The game takes place at the onset of the Ice Age (keeping in line with the films). This leads to the breakup of the continent of Pangaea. This situation means you have to find new homes for the characters (the same as those in the films).

The gameplay is similar to other games where you have to create buildings. However, Ice Age Village has some features that make it interesting. Players can raise and breed all sorts of animals, prehistoric birds, mammoths, sabre toothed tigers and more.

The ability to breed animals in Ice Age Village gives the building structure game a new dimension. The progression is rapid so you don’t have to spend a lot of time waiting for something to happen. The families earn money quickly so it makes the game more fun. In short, Ice Age Village rewards players who breed animals well, giving you impetus to keep playing. And there is a lot to see and enjoy here.
