Most probably none. The gen-x might not be even aware of what the DOS platform actually is, but if you grew up on the system back in the day and want to go back to the good-old gaming days, then we have a something special for you. Iron Seed is your passport for a trip down memory lane.

Developed by Channel 7 and published by Softdisk, the game is certainly a real-time strategy, science fiction, and space adventure.

Players begin this cross-time adventure with a single ship and a chosen crew. The planets are randomly generated and there are numerous ship designs all dressed in a multitude of different play styles. Research, exploration, and diplomacy are some of the highly rated ingredients for success in-game.

The game houses a full blown option for new ships, new upgrades, and also includes ancient artifacts that help the player with reaching their objectives. Combat can be both in the form of random encounters or planned and executed by the player. Iron Seed is a true classic that focuses mainly on strategy and tactical issues.

Overall, its a great game with an infinite re-playable option. Highly recommended to all DOS platform gaming fans.

It is not for the hi-def gaming fans, but for point-and-click enthusiasts with a love for objectives, hours of endless fun, and a bit of strategic thinking thrown-in here and there.

Created by Illwinter, the same developer who have churned out exciting titles like Dominions, Dominions II, Dominions III and is currently busy updating Conquest of Elysium 3, the game is surely a gem.

Conquest of Elysium II puts you in a war situation with the sole motive of preparing for any invasion coming your way. The way you conquer locations greatly depends on your income and resources in the game. So its a no-brainer - the more, the better. In the game, Citadels are special structures that help in the recruiting of units and their deployment. The citadels range from castles, wooden watchtowers, and even large cities.

<img class="aligncenter" size-medium wp-image-5158" src="http://www.frostclick.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/coe_main.jpg" alt="5030_117721231277_66679206277_3290323_3461274_n" width="300" height="269" />

Conquest of Elysium II offers a rich game-play and up to twenty different character classes to choose from; each one sporting their own attributes and special abilities. So your choices vary from anything from the Demonologist, who collects human sacrifices and uses this ability to bring together the demons he can summon, to the Enchanter, who can bring the non living back to life. The other characters include, Blood-Thirsty Vampires, Insane Necromancers, Brutal Barbarians, Sinister Shamans and more.

Every character offers its advantages, but the drawbacks are no less evident. So the integral part of the entire game-play circles around the resources available in hand to the player, and the strategies being adopted according to the given situation.

The gaming environments are not very graphic-intensive, but has the entire old-school arcade gaming style written all over it. Something the gamers of the 90's era would certainly love. And all of this action, including multiplayer support for up to 8 players (only hotseat, no LAN), immersible strategies, is available for free. Give this game a try and get to know how one of the greatest fantasy series came to be.

This game belongs to the very popular and widely rated MechWarrior franchisee, and the publisher is none other than Microsoft Game Studios; developed by FASA Studios.

The game brings you a good dose of adrenaline pumping action with loads and loads of machinery thrown-in everywhere. Developed with the help of Mechwarrior 4 engine, it looks gorgeous to say the least.

MechWarrior 4 Mercenaries has a very in-depth plot and the gameplay is far from becoming stagnant. It has a variety of levels to offer with some of the most visually detailed maps. MW4M is a RPG set between the years 3066 and 3067, where players take on the role of mercenary BattleMech pilot who travels within the fictional region of the BattleTech Universe called the Inner Sphere. What will really interest players is the objective and it is far from winning and losing. The object of the MW4M is to earn money by beating the opponents and using the earned money for further improvement to the arsenal; and also for hiring extra MechWarriors to ones clan.

The setting is very natural and the choice of missions initially decides on what future missions are assigned to a player. So for example, if a player is a heavy-duty civilian and neutral target destroyer, he earns infamy points. This accumulated in higher numbers limit the player to brutal and unethical missions. Something really new in a game and brings the situation closer to real-life.

Further, the game has two war-factions, they being House Steiner and House Davion. Choosing either side results in a different ending and different missions.

Being an online multiplayer game, MW4M enjoys numerous number of mods, maps, cheats, and other tools that add to the overall play-ability. The game also supports a chatbox for players to choose between talking to teammates or to all in the game. It has a lot to offer and the system requirements are very moderate with any new-age PC.

So all FPS fans and hardcore action fanatics, this game is your true escape into some serious destruction and cold-blooded war. Choose your side and let the WAR begin.

Yes, we are talking about the highly-popular F.E.A.R franchisee with the spine-chilling action that takes the FPS genre to a whole new level.

Developed by Monolith Productions, F.E.A.R Combat is a multiplayer online game being offered as a freeware. The game takes the entire queue from the other F.E.A.R versions and fans will immediately notice the similarities, once the game has shot-up and the mouse starts controlling the gun.

F.E.A.R Combat takes the multiplayer angle very seriously and does a darn good job with the maps, surroundings, gameplay, texture, and pixel-shaders. The graphic of the game even in 2011 look quite fresh, if not mind-blowing. I specially liked the destruction depicted on walls with bullet-shots, debris and smoke due to the grenades; also the blood and gore seem quite convincing. All this keeping in mind the game was a top-notch graphic produce in 2006 and has hold-up quite well, so a thumbs-up on that count.

Quite a few recent gamers do complain about the lack of additional guns (as combat offers only 7 regular and 3 special ones), but if the game is played for a while you will certainly notice that all the weapons are amazing and they are perfect for winning any level.
F.E.A.R Combat is one FPS game that is not recommended for newbies. This games takes FPS seriously and it is almost like business for the hardcore shooter fan. The balance of the game is enriched, so the more skill you possess, higher are the chances of winning.

The gameplay is super speedy, its like playing Counter Strike at 2x speed. There are 19 multiplayer maps and most of them have a very eerie surrounding, play them with earphones in a dark-room for the best experience! Its quite scary to say the least. Team commands are very simple and gun-load times are also very quick and responsive.

Overall, F.E.A.R Combat makes up for an excellent FPS with mean graphics and beautiful head-shots. It is highly balanced and a true calling for hardcore shooting addicts with an urge to kill and destroy. Many reviewers believe this offering to be quite a mean shot on the block till date. So whats the wait, head over to the site and make your rival clan feel the F.E.A.R!

The game has been developed by Gameloft, the makers who have produced visually appealing titles such as N.O.V.A 2, Backstab, Assassins Creed: Altairs Chronicles and a host of other enthralling gaming titles. Brothers in Arms: Global Front certainly lives up the prior releases and the growing legacy of Gameloft.

Brothers in Arms is a gaming franchisee known for the adrenaline-pumping FPS action. Global Front is a step ahead with the inclusion of a full-fledged multiplayer mode, accompanied by a vast story mode. With its immersion into the WWII action, players are able to choose between 5 maps, with 3 game options, i.e Free for All, Deathmatch and Domination. Multiplayer mode supports up to 5 players. Furthermore, the title offers varied gameplay options through 50 unlockable missions, all playable across 5 locations (Normandy, North-Africa, Sicily, Germany, and the Pacific).

Another great addition for players is the ability to drive different vehicles. These vehicles are not only used for going from Point A to Point B, but also for running over opponents (fun for the mayhem maniac) and making cinematic, close-to-death escapes. The in-game vehicles consists of a tank, a glider and an off-roader.

Gameplay is very immersive with the AI reactions being very real. Graphics are top-notch with very detailed surroundings and all those with an eye-for-a-detail will certainly notice the way gun-fire, ammunition, vehicles and terrain have been designed and detailed, replicating the WWII battelfields.

Gameloft has once again done a great job with Brothers in Arms: Global Front, which runs on both iPhone and iPad.

This game comes directly from the sci-fi genre and offers an experience which some gamers out there can just dream of. It was originally developed by Nevrx, but currently the game's developer and publisher is Winch Gate Property, Ltd.

Gameplay is far from easy, and offers a host of features that impacts the entire story in the long run. Graphics are at its best with highly-detailed environments, characters, nemesis, and the likes.

Adding a load to the realistic touch is the very well thought weather and season changes. Seasons include winter, spring, fall and summer, while weather effects include winds, rain and snow. Ryzom enthusiasts will also find the "Sandbox" gameplay more than just helpful, as it offers the player the freedom to, without any restrictions, roam and discover the environment he/she is put into. A fitting farewell to the olden style of being stuck in an environment and follow a predefined path.

Coming to the game now - players are located on a planet called Atys in the year 2525, which is far from the conventional planet you might be thinking about. Its not a circular object, but a tree that can support multiple ecosystems and atmosphere with a plethora of networked branches and roots. Behavior is very realistic and it largely depends on the character class they belong to.

The Saga of Ryzom features four humanoid races, jointly called "Homins". They include Matis, Tryker, Zorai, and Fyros. Each of these classes have special abilities, strength levels, adaptability factor, special moves, etc. There are two additional classes that interact with the four mentioned above, but share a cold-war with each other. They are magical Kami and Technological Karavan. Its like a Science vs Mythology situation (at least that is what the names tell us).

The newer release offers the players the chance to unlock character abilities until level 125. This was locked in the previous releases. Gamers just need to sign-up for a Ryzom account and get their free trial account, though limitations are a thing of the past now.

Users can download The Saga of Ryzom as a direct media download, BitTorrent, or as a physical DVD or CD package.

The game takes cue from the World War II and requires the player to execute some important missions in a war environment. Gameplay could be glitchy at places and there is known trouble on GeForce GPU systems, but otherwise a complete pleasure to play.

Players step-in the shoes of an officer commanding a four-man British Special Air Service team and guiding the clan through various mission and objectives. Missions are very detailed and this makes the gameplay interesting, and highly challenging. Being a tactical shooter, players have the option to command their clan by directly hovering the mouse over them, voice-commands or the advance players have the option of accessing the tactical map for much accurate real-time strategy.

Game missions include sabotage, search and destroy. A perfect weekend recipe for the hardcore shoot-and-kill gamers. An interesting fact about Hidden and Dangerous is the similarities it shares with actual Special Air Service happenings and its timeline.

There are multiple options as far as ammunitions go and the same thing goes to the maps. Players have to complete missions in Italy, Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia, Germany, North Sea and Norway. Wow, quite a handful for the environments. Hidden and Dangerous Deluxe added an expansion pack in 2000, a US and UK version, Hidden and Dangerous: Devil's Bridge and Hidden and Dangerous: Fight for Freedom respectively.

Hidden and Dangerous: Deluxe was made a full free legal download in order to promote the release of Hidden and Dangerous 2. The game supports Windows, Dreamcast and Playstation and is a fine companion for some real, classic, hardcore shooting action.

Its time to pick-up your weapons, choose your allies, and gear up for war. We are talking about the iconic FPS, Return To Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. Developed by Activision, the same developer who has churned out impressive titles such as Driver, Driver 3, Call Of Duty series, Crash Bandicoot series, just to name a few.

Enemy Territory was supposed to be an expansion pack to the RTCW game series, but a problem owing to the single-player aspect led to Enemy Territory being released as a free and open-source standalone game on 29th May, 2003.

Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, like many FPS games, is based on the online multi-player platform. Here, players interact with each other over a network, most commonly LAN-network and have the option of picking up two sides, Allies and Axis. Both the clans have a destroy or defend mission.

Environments are map dependent, with a choice of six officially released maps. What makes these maps really interesting is that all of them are based on real places and real incidents. There are also more than hundred custom ones available on the web made by various internet communities. A game-play video after the break.

A very Counter-Strike like game, with each clan getting a limited time for carrying out a certain task and completing objectives. Wolfenstein has four game modes to offer, namely Campaign Mode, Objective Mode, Stopwatch Mode and Last Man Standing.

Unlike many LAN FPS games, Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory has also five character classes to offer: Soldier, Medic, Engineer, Field Ops, and Covert Ops. These character classes have their own methods of defence, special skills, particular set of weapons and many more customizable options.

The game offers a heady-mix of action and is sure to get the strategy lovers roll-up their socks and get inside the action of World War II. The more mod-friendly players will also find a plethora of modifications avilable on the Internet for use with Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. So all action lovers, its time for WAR!

Offered absolutely free in the App Store, the game is considered one of the best tower defense strategy games available for free.

It was created by TapJoy and since it's release it has become of the biggest, most downloaded free apps in the iTunes library.

Of course, it's not just because it's offered for free that makes it great but it's actually a very addictive and entertaining strategy game. Combining strategy and good old fun, you'll certainly enjoy this one.

The game is a literal version of spiritual warfare. Essentially, you are on the good side and you play against the minions of darkness. The only thing that's keeping them at bay is your towers. You are going to have to build, upgrade and strengthen your tower defenses in order to keep all of the devils and nasty creatures from getting to heaven.

Now, the game is pretty easy to learn. On the one end, you have your enemies, marching and making their way towards heaven along the winding path. Your goal is to put up towers and barriers that will prevent them from ever reaching "Heaven." Of course, you start off with the simple type of barriers; water, cannon, or even bomb. Once you gain experience and have killed enough monsters, you'll have a chance to exchange the gold for better barriers.

There are several types of monsters and some are resistant to certain tower barriers. Hence, you'll need to strategize and take into account their vulnerability as well as hit points. Even though this may seem a bit overwhelming, once you start playing it becomes quite simple to learn.

Overall, the game is pretty amazing and very addictive. Pretty soon, you'll be spending hours of your free time trying to figure out and finish all 42 levels. Worth downloading and having on your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad.
