The game of checkers has been around for a long time, and made their way into desktops laptops and smartphones. Checkers Free from Optime Software is one of the best looking ones for the iPhone yet.

The design is simple and clean, something that has become a trademark of the company. Controls are intuitive; tap a piece to select and tap to where you want to put it. The game has an undo button in case you move in the wrong area. The options menu allows you to turn the sound effects on or off, use forced jumps or not and many others.

The graphics are nice, the subtle colors easy on the eyes. The sound when you move the piece is realistic. You also hear groans when you lose and cheers when you win. Single players can choose the level of play. Move the slider to the right to increase the difficulty level. Warning: moving to the extreme right will make the game very difficult.

Checkers Free has pretty good (and challenging) AI. You can go up against another player if you want to as well.

Fans of the classics will enjoy this game. Its addictive and can be played anywhere. If you have never played checkers before, this is a great way to get into it.

Tiny Tower is one of the most popular games for the iPhone, and understandably so. For one thing, it is very simple to learn; you build a tower and maintain it. Only minimal skills are required. Every time you play the game, you�ll progress. But there�s more to this game from Nimblebit of course.

Your goal is to provide work for the Bitizens (the tower�s residents). It is like a virtual ant farm. You start with one tower and a lobby. If you go through the tutorial, you will be able to create your first floor and the production floor.

The Bitizens will come in and you have to give them a job. As the Bitizens work, they�ll earn coins. You can use those coins to build more floors. When you make enough coins to make another level, you�ll get a Tower Bux bonus.

Tiny Tower is free to play. You can earn Tower Bux whenever you play the game. But you can use real-life money to buy Tower Bux to speed things up. But they are not necessary. As long as you play the game regularly, you will get the Bux. They can be earned in many ways; manning an elevator, stacking a store, helping people find their way around the tower etc.

There�s plenty to do in Tiny Tower. You can customize the tower, color the floors and the residents. You control the elevator and the comings and goings of Bitizens. You also have to realize that Bitizens have unique talents; you need to match these with their task so they become more productive. Men in Black 3 by Gameloft is one of those movie tie-in games that actually works. The game is a combination of turn based fighting and gathering resources. MIB 3 pulls it off successfully. In many ways, the game is more interesting than the movie.
The premise is familiar: players start off with limited materials. As the game progresses, you get to expand the MIB base and create powerful weapons. Aside from base expansion, you’ll be able to heal injured agents and upgrade equipment. With assistance from agents D and J, your chances of saving the Earth from aliens increase.

Gameplay is turn-based, so you need to keep tapping; afterwards, it’s the aliens’ turn. Real time strategy gamers might be uncomfortable with this. However, it works very well in most situations. It’s most effective when there are many agents firing and your weapon gets an upgrade. The game uses icons so you don’t get confused in the midst of battle.

Make no mistake about it though; the AI is good and you’ll get hit hard. Gamers looking for a challenge will be happy about this. However, the game progresses at a nice pace. A new player should be able to make adjustments and get used to the environment.

Men in Black 3 doesn’t have the movie actors’ voice files, but this does save a lot of smartphone space. Representations of the agents are decent. The rest of the graphics are gorgeous. The story is pretty good as well. The music has also has a nice retro feel to it. Overall, the game is very good. It is certainly way better than most movie game tie-ins.

If you loved strategy games like, Risk, back in the day; you might find a new bestfriend in the presence of Lux Touch. This is only the lite version of Lux Deluxe but you’ll find that it’s more than enough to give you a great time.

The game sees you looking to take over the world by expanding and owning continents. It features simple but colorful graphics, a somewhat complex gameplay (especially for those who have not tried Risk before) and a cool interface that’s heightened by the touch function of the iPad and iPhone screen.

For those who haven’t played Risk before, you might be at a loss as to what to do with this game. When you first start out, it provides no instructions on how it’s played so pretty much you’re left on your own from the get-go. However, fear not, once you learn the basics and get used to it, this game should become a breeze and quite enjoyable.

Your goal is to defend your territory while destroying all the other places owned by your enemies. In the map, all the territories marked blue are yours. The black, orange and green ones are your enemies. When playing, the goal is to conquer every single continent. Whenever you do this, you obtain a cool card and once you manage to create a set with your cards, you can use it to gain bonus armies.

The game lets you start off with several blue countries. Each country will have a corresponding number that indicates the number of armies/soldiers on that particular continent. One thing to remember when you’re still starting out though is to never attack a country that has a higher number of soldier than yours.

Gameplay can become really fast. One minute you’re watching a map with both you and your enemies having the same number of continents while in the next instant, he’s already taken over half of the map leaving you pushed down to one little corner. The good thing though is that even if it’s already like this, you can instantly turn the game around in your favor. It might take some time to get used to the overall gameplay but once you do, it’ll be a piece of cake.

Sound effects are also added to give the game a nice touch. Even though the game is a bit tricky to master when you’re still starting. Pretty soon, you’ll get the hang of it and for sure will spend a great deal of time playing this one. It’s quite addictive and definitely fun.
