Puzzle

Ichi (Jay Van Hutten)

Single button games should be easy, right? Besides, pressing one button to play and defeat the entire game can't be that hard. However, Ichi might just prove this theory wrong. The game is a one-button puzzler from Jay Van Hutten and it's main premise is simple. All you have to do is collect the different yellow colored circles or balls inside a maze. This might seem like a no-brainer and it is, until you get to the higher levels and realize just how complicated it can get. Ichi comes with a sketch-like graphics reminiscent of Crayon Physics as well as a nice soundtrack provided by Michiel Nijhof.

Candy Train

If you were into PopCap games back then, then you must have remembered Candy Train at some point. This simple but entertaining game was a staple on the PopCap roster. In fact, it was even available as a flash game on their website. Fast forward to now and this addictive game is available as a free download for the iPhone and iPad. The game was released under PopCap's "indie label," 4th & Battery where they promised to deliver edgier and experimental games. I'm not so sure if you can call Candy Train edgy or experimental but one thing's for sure, it definitely has the charm of a PopCap title: making you want to do nothing but keep playing.

Tiny Ball vs. Evil Devil

Here's another cool game to add to your favorite iOS device. Tiny Ball vs. Evil Devil is an interesting physics based game that tests out your aiming and strategy skills. The objective is to help the little blue ball get his ship back from the evil red guy. Developed by iTankster, the game is currently available as a free download over at the App Store. Thanks to its colorful graphics and fun yet challenging gameplay, you're guaranteed to keep playing this game for hours on end.

It's a wonderful way of keeping yourself occupied while you're waiting for your turn in line or waiting for someone to arrive. The game was last updated in August 2010 and it works great on the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. Give the game a try by getting it at the App store. It's absolutely free!

The Machine

The Machine is a colorful new game that you can download and play for free. Even though it's just a demo, it's still pretty entertaining and worth checking out. The game is very logical so don't expect to figure this one out via hit or miss. In the game, you are an assigned engineer who creates blocks, both colored and not colored. Your job though consists of creating a machine to create the blocks that you need. You'll have several parts at your disposal that you would need to assemble and put together the machine in order to start production.

Youdunnit

If you hate figuring out games, then stay clear from Youdunnit. This is perhaps one of the most confusing indie games out there. However, if you are up for a little challenge and don't mind taking a Tylenol or two, this game would be right up your alley. The game was created under 48 hours so don't expect it to be perfect. In fact, it's this confusing gameplay and headache inducing storyline that makes the game quite intriguing. It was created as an entry for the Global Jam Games and since then has gained notoriety among indie gamers as a weird yet must-try murder "mystery" game.

Pragmatica (HIVE)

Looking for a nice puzzle game that you can waste a couple of your hours or minutes on? Pragmatica might just do the trick for you. The game is set in a world where humanity is has become a liability. Instead, the world is increasingly becoming dependent on robots and Pragmatica has become one of the leading industries of the time. Developed by HIVE, the same team that gave you the gorgeous handrawn platformer, Umbrella Adventures which was featured here in Frostclick as well; you can expect nothing less from Pragmatica.

Technobabylon Part III

Technobabylon Part III is an interesting game and the third installment from the series. If you haven't heard of it yet, then let me give you a brief background. The game is set in a world where internet addicts, terrorists and conspiracies reign supreme. A bomber is on the loose and you play as a Doctor trying to piece together everything. This puzzle platformer is coupled with great writing and a very cool gameplay. With this third installment, developers are hoping to maintain the consistency between the other two games. Why not go ahead and give this one a go?

Harbor Master HD

Harbor Master HD is a fun and very addictive game that will keep you busy for a good long time. It's a lot like Flight Control except this time you don't handle airplanes, you handle boats instead. Your job is to navigate the boats around a busy harbor so they can smoothly dock in and out of the space without running into each other. Created by Imangi Studios, LLC, the game is a cool take on being a dock master. It was first released in 2010 and already won raves from gamers. Although the game is offered for free, there are additional maps that you can purchase for a small fee. Nevertheless, the current free map is enough to keep you busy for awhile.
