{"id":10572,"date":"2010-03-13T08:00:11","date_gmt":"2010-03-13T13:00:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.frostclick.com\/wp\/?p=10572"},"modified":"2010-03-12T20:34:48","modified_gmt":"2010-03-13T01:34:48","slug":"greatest-it-a-free-best-of-compilation-from-six-great-netlabels","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.frostclick.com\/wp\/index.php\/2010\/03\/13\/greatest-it-a-free-best-of-compilation-from-six-great-netlabels\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Greatest It&#8221; &#8211; a free &#8216;Best Of&#8217; compilation from six great netlabels"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"http:\/\/mediaplayer.yahoo.com\/js\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;Greatest It&#8221;<\/strong> is a brilliant collaborative output of <strong>six cool netlabels<\/strong> who decided to work together to dish out a compilation that celebrates free music with each label&#8217;s crowd of fans. <\/p>\n<p>Agreeing that by working together, they can gather up their audiences and introduce themselves to a bigger virtual crowd in the process, the six netlabels came up with <strong>18 chill out, funky rock tracks to showcase some of the best free music ever released for free online<\/strong>.   <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The netlabels we should be thankful to are: <strong><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.upitup.com\/catalogue\/release.php?cat_id=33\">Up It Up<\/a>, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.myspace.com\/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&amp;friendId=32478534&amp;blogId=530570906\">Ego Twister<\/a>, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.peppermillrecords.com\/pm016\">Peppermill<\/a>, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/prootrecords.free.fr\/index.php?post\/PRT008\">Proot<\/a>, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cockrockdisco.com\/CRD2\/albumpages\/Crockp3-023.html\">Cock Rock Disco<\/a>,<\/strong> and <strong><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wmrecordings.com\/releases\/wm105.htm\">WM Recordings<\/a><\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Captain Ahab&#8217;s &#8220;Feel Anymore,&#8221; Happy Elf&#8217;s &#8220;Another Day,&#8221; and Dev\/Null&#8217;s &#8220;Zombie sunset&#8221;<\/strong> are my personal favorites in the album. <\/p>\n<p>Another Day has that easy morning vibe to it that kind of invites some sort of good energy into the day.   <\/p>\n<p>Feel Anymore starts off with digitized vocals that seem to be coming from outer space and the beats reflect the confusion that is the dominant theme of the song. The words are not exactly bitter or angsty, just really confused. And it&#8217;s the perfect theme for those days when there is just so much chaos inside you, and you want to do something about it but you&#8217;re too tired to make a big deal out of things. <\/p>\n<p>Zombie&#8217;s Sunset begins with a familiar beat of the drums, and then it gives off a seemingly out of tune beat, as if trying to find the right melody to bring in to the song. After a while, it gets really noisy and you realize you&#8217;re listening to the sound in your head when you&#8217;re getting ready to start something big. It is the sound of chaos before the calm.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;Greatest It&#8221; is a positive proof that we have not yet seen or downloaded the best free music from the Internet.
