Little Go from Patrick Näf Moser is the mobile version of the game Go, also known as Weiqi, Baduk and Igo. The classic game has a simple rule, and it is for two players who take turns placing white or black pieces onto a grid. The player who is able to cover more area or territory is the winner, and this game follows those simple guidelines.

The game doesn’t take too long to learn, and if you’ve been paying Go for any period of time, you’ll be tapping and swiping your screen immediately. The AI is quite good so even if you’re an experienced player don’t expect to get quick victories here. If you love to strategize then this is your game.

When you start the game you can choose to play against the computer AI or a human player, and you can choose to play on various board sizes, though if you are just starting or learning to play the game it’s best to go with 7 x 7. The standard board size for regular Go games is 19 x 19 and a quick tap will provide that option. However that requires more strategizing so you’re probably better with a smaller board for the meantime.

Little Go plays fine out of the box so to speak and there’s probably not a lot of settings you’ll want to tinker with (though it is possible to). One thing some customer reviewers have noted is the AI can be tough but it’s easy enough to adjust its strength from the presets at the advanced settings. Speaking of presets there are five rule set options at the beginning of the game, so you’re in complete control.
