Anim8or is a 3D modeling program for Windows. Created by R. Steven Glanville, the application also has character animation capabilities, and while the application isn’t as full featured as other commercial 3D applications, it has more than enough to meet the needs of new 3D modelers and enthusiasts.
Among the most impressive features of Anim8or is its 3D modeler. With it you can create 3D models, and the fact that it includes primitives like cylinders, spheres and other solids is a plus. Aside from the primitives, you also get lathing, warps, bevel, modifiers and splines.
Anim8or also has mesh editing capabilities and extrusion, and there is support for TrueType fonts as well. Anim8or also lets you import OBJ, 3DS AND LWO files, so if you created files in those programs you can import them here. In addition you can export 3DS files, and you can morph targets.
Anim8or also has a 3D object browser so you can browse all the objects you have created, and the jointed character editor simplifies the modeling process. It’s also worth noting that its renderer is anti-aliased so the output is of very high quality. Once you have modeled a 3D object you can animate it and save the file in AVI format. Or you can render it and save the file in BMP or JPG format among others.
Anim8or also supports fog, spotlights, soft shadows, bump maps, textures and many more. Thanks to the way Anim8or has been designed, it’s easier than ever to model creatures, sceneries and more.
