Find My Friends from Apple is an app that helps you locate family and friends using your iPad or iPhone. In this day and age there’s no reason for you to be out of touch, and this app does exactly that. If you and your friends install this app you’ll be able to keep track of each other easily.
All you need to do is ask your friends to share their location. You can start by adding those on your contacts list or inputting their email address on the app and then send an invite. Once your friends accept your invite you can follow each other’s location by sending requests, and if you don’t want anyone following you, just activate the hide location feature.
It’s easy to see how Find My Friends can be used in different ways. For instance you can use its location notification so you’ll be alerted when you have to pick a friend up at the airport. Parental controls and restrictions are built in as well so you don’t have to worry about how your children might be using the app.
If you’re concerned about privacy, keep in mind that people will only see your location if you give them permission, and your location will only be sent upon your friend’s request so it’s not transmitted at any other time. Also you just need to tap once to hide your location from everyone. There’s also a passcode lock and if you forget to log off, you’ll be logged out automatically from the app if there’s no activity after 15 minutes.
