Juanitos – “Best Of”

Juanitos is an exotic rock-n-roll band from France. The members include (if my translation from French is correct): Juan (vocals and organ), the Blob (surfing guitar), Dave (groovy bass), Chang (country guitar) and Jyle Malone (drums & bongos). On the "Best Of" you can hear a bit of reggae & soul with nu-Latin Brazilian beats, but the 50s "Beach Boys" feel of the album can be noticed in almost every track.

Jay Bennett – “Whatever Happened I Apologize”

Jay Bennett was an acclaimed musician, guitarist, singer, songwriter and producer most often recognized for his work in the twice Grammy-nominated band Wilco. He has played with the band for 7 year and after leaving Wilco in 2001 he has recorded 5 solo albums. Bennett released "Whatever Happened I Apologize" only on rockproper.com as a free Creative Commons album in November 2008. He died in his sleep on May 24th, 2009. RIP.

Glass Waves – “One Day We’ll All Float Away” – Free Album Download on FrostWire

Glass Waves is a St. Louis rock band composed of three long time musicians: Jordan (vocal, guitar, songwriter), Micah (bass), and Nate (drums). "One Day We'll All Float Away" is their first album together, although they've known each other for a while. The band came together in the summer of 2008 and the trio has been recording and playing concerts together ever since. Their music is characteristic of layered guitar textures and melody focused songwriting. Moods range from landscapes evocative of today's instrumental indie rock to more compact song forms, with elements of no wave, shoegaze, indie pop, and the occasional nod to Bakersfield country. The resulting vibe has as much to do with Dinosaur Jr and Yo La Tengo as it does with groups like Band of Horses and Explosions in the Sky.

Legacy: Lagacy

We have a star on the rise for you here! Danny "Legacy" Mcbride is a very talented New York artist with a broad musical range. His sound is a fusion of R&B, Pop, Jazz, sometimes even Gospel & Rock. He's been producing local artists since he was twelve years old, learned how to play piano at age five and sang ever since he could speak. He has written or co-written all of the songs on this self-titled album and spent countless hours of recording and producing to bring it to perfection. Some of the songs feature two of his good friends and studio partners - Critical and G-dub.

Josh Woodward: Only Whispering

This is an oldie-but-goody release from Josh Woodward. Praised for his melodic voice & witty lyrics Josh definitely delivers on this one. "Only Whispering" is probably the most acoustic of all seven of his albums and as he himself admits, the one most focused on storytelling. My favorite songs include "I'll Be Right Behind You, Josephine" for sweet lyrics & "East Side Bar" for its swing-like happy feeling. If you need a nice relaxing album to listen to on a quiet day - here is a perfect one for you.

Adam McHeffey: Let’s Kick Fire

Adam McHeffey is a young folk musician from Long Island, NY. He's been writing, composing and playing his music since middle school and developed a great ability to communicate with his audience and make them a part of the experience. He writes and sings from the heart drawing inspiration from the simple events and complex emotions of everyday life. "Let's Kick Fire" is Adam's debut album he recorded with the help of some of his friends over the last several months & mixed in his home studio. In the spirit of true community sharing the album is available free under a Creative Commons License.

Cartel: Tha Throwback

An underground New York hip-hop producer, Cartel, brings his music genre back to its roots in his newest release ‘Tha Throwback’. He describes the music he produces as “grown man hip hop” for the real-life adults, who are working to support their families and “want more from their music than just (listening about)(…) sleeping with women, selling drugs, and shaking their booties.”
