“The Politics of Desire” by Revolution Void – a free electric jazz album

With a consistently high ranking on Jamendo, Revolution Void's latest album, The Politics of Desire, has set the standards of electric jazz music quite high. Revolution Void is a music project by Jonah Dempcy, who started it way back in 1995. With the quotation 'We are the facilitators of our own creation' boldly stated in his website, Dempcy released his albums through Creative Commons. As the third album released under the Revolution Void Records net label, The Politics of Desire has a polished selection of electro jazz instrumental songs. It was described as a fresh take to electronic music and had a blend of different sounds.

Listen to LoveJones aka Mike Schpitz & Phys Edison’s free laid back rap album “Sunday Drive”

Finding the perfect chemistry between producer and MC is a very rare if not magical occurrence. With the single driven, mixtape economy of hip hop, finding this connection for an entire album seems virtually impossible. One duo however, has not only managed to find that chemistry and share the same vision, they have also managed to create a conceptual piece of work that flows seamlessly from start to finish without skipping a beat.

Amelie’s “Be Low”- a free British pop-rock EP from Italy

Amelie is an Italian band going for a British pop-rock sound. Actually, if you listen to their music first without knowing where they came from, it won't even cross your mind that they're Italian. I believe they've got the genre right down pat. If you're a fan of gritty, soulful, slow rock the way the British do it, give Amelie a listen.

“Superheroes Of Space” from the Intercontinental Music Lab

The Intercontinental Music Lab (IML) is a world-wide music project whose aim is to promote musical collaboration. The core contributors, originally from Cambridge, England are now writing and recording music all over the planet - and new international collaborators are being enlisted every week. IML Collaborators submit backing-tracks to IML H.Q. where they are randomly redistributed to other collaborators who write lyrics and record vocals. The subject of IML's first album was "Superheroes of Science", second "Superheroes of Sea" and the latest ones' is "Superheroes of Space".

Fhernando “Sweet Addiction” – a free Creative Commons licensed dance album, now on FrostWire

Fhernando is a great young Mexican DJ whose most recent album, "Sweet Addiction", got some amazing reviews on free music download websites and social networks. Fhernando, or Fernando Ramires Rios, has been composing music since he was a teenager and has already released several EPs and singles. "I Love New York", his previous release, was a house/trance/electro composition. "Sweet Addiction" falls in between the disco/house/funk genres, with more complicated arrangements and "sexy & glam" style. Both are happy, energetic and capturing.

Ray Garrido – “Tropicotrip”

The Breathe compilations have become an anthology series that I look forward to with anticipation. However, the Breathe netlabel is also getting into single artist collections with this luscious album by Mexican multi-instrumentalist Ray Garrido. Tropicotrip is an exotic journey that is part hip-hop, part lounge, and very spacey.

“The Jazz Farm” – a alternative/improv album by Oprachina

The quartet Oprachina came to existence during recent editions of “Along Came Jazz, Research In Italy” organized in Tivoli and Rome. The group consists of Massimo Bognetti, guitarist; Errico De Fabritiis, saxophonist; Fabio Fochesato, bassist and drummer Adriano Galinari. The only aspect connecting the musician's repertoire is a touch of jazz in every track.

The Leftouts – “Last One Standing”

Lepork Records is a new net label specializing in South American punk artists. The small offering of online albums is interesting but I was especially drawn to The Leftouts and their free album titled Last One Standing. It is a raucous effort incorporating power pop with punk. I especially like the opening track, “19 Days” and the tense title tune. This album, as well as the albums by other bands on this net label deserve a listen for their inexhaustible energy but also to show how global the punk genre has become.
