Imagine is a text editor for the Mac, but it has features that make it way easier to use than other word processors. Created by Benjamin Chan, it’s a writing app that doesn’t come with any distracting features and allows you to focus on just writing. When you set it in full screen mode you will really be able to appreciate its clean interface. And if you need the menu just press CMD+Alt+T.

The format bar shows up at the bottom of the screen, and that’s where you can change font settings, italicize or make them bold. In addition there’s a word count so you can keep track of them while writing. When it comes to format Imagine supports rich text and plain text, and you can also choose from different background colors.

Because the interface is so clean, Imagine for Mac allows you to edit and write notes, poems, blog posts and articles with no distractions. Unlike large writing applications that take up a lot of space, Imagine is light and portable and moves very smoothly. The menu is also easy to go through so you can assess options and make changes, bold text, underline, change font color and so on.

One of the most common mistakes people make with Imagine is assuming it can only save in RTF, but if you write and save text without any formatting, the file is saved as text. In other words, Imagine gives you a lot of flexibility without the confusion that comes with other word processors. If you just want to focus on writing and nothing fancy, Imagine is for you.
