Valve has been getting plenty of great fan film renditions in honor of their games lately. First there was Escape from City 17, a short fan film created by The Purchase Brothers based on Half Life 2. This time around, it's Valve's Portal video game that's getting the treatment.
Portal: No Escape is a short film directed by Dan Trachtenberg. Although he's been working on the project for a year and half, it's only in August of this year that he was able to release it.
The movie focuses on what is believed to be the character of Chell (Danielle Rayne) as she wakes up and discovers that she's a prisoner. With no memory, she eventually discovers the Portal gun and uses it to escape.

Alive in Joburg is a science fiction short film directed by Neill Blomkamp and released by Spy Films in 2005. Filmed in Johannesburg, South Africa it became known for its great visual effects and documentary-style imagery exploring the tension between the human population and extraterrestrial refugees whose spaceships (some of which are estimated to be one kilometer in length) can be seen floating right above the city.

ZENITH is a retro-futuristic steam-punk thriller, about two men in two time periods, whose search for the same grand conspiracy leads them to question their own humanity.
Starting from a fictional recreation of Stanley Milgram's Obedience to Authority experiment (see more on the experiment in Background and Influences), Zenith plunges into following two parallel stories - of father and son - now, and 40 years into the future.
