We often install all sorts of programs in an iPhone, some of which are useless. First Aid by American Red Cross is not one of those. It is full of information for emergency situations. In many cases, it may even save lives. This application was developed with the approval of the Red Cross, so the information is tried and tested. The application is packed with step-by-step advice, quizzes and videos.

There is a lot of information here, but it is well organized. The step by step guide offers clear instructions on how to perform first aid. You can use the quizzes to test your knowledge. The information is stored locally; you have access even if there is no online service. This is a significant feature in case you are stuck in a place without Wi-Fi.

First Aid isn’t just a collection of basic health tips. There are guides for coping with earthquakes, tornadoes and other natural calamities. You will also find suggestions to deal with burns, wounds and other injuries. The application lets you dial 911 directly.

The contents are well organized so you don’t feel overwhelmed. Data is kept in tabs. Contents are divided between general information, a how-to guide and weather emergency situations. This section includes tips to prepare yourself for floods and other disasters.

If you don’t feel like reading, just use the instructional animation and videos. You can also donate to the Red Cross over the app.

There is no reason not to download this software. It doesn’t matter whether you are a homebody or always on the go. Accidents happen, but with this program, you will be better prepared.
