Count Your Lucky Stars: YLS Sampler #4

Count Your Lucky Stars is an independent label that has been releasing music from local rock bands. This Michgan-based label has compiled a huge sampler containing 21 tracks from various bands and musicians. Most of the cuts feature a rock/indie rock vibe that definitely delivers some of the best rhythms you can find around. The record contains music from Empire! Empire!, The Reptilian, Penfold, Boris Smile, Mountains for Clouds and so much more.

VS. Racing

Vs. Racing brings arcade racing to the iOS. Developed by Maciek Drejak Labs, it’s got some real smooth graphics, and the gameplay is easy to pick up. It’s a fun racer that you can play over and over. While there are plenty of twists and turns, the fact that it’s an overhead racer makes this quite easy.

Siblings: My Brother

What an apt move for a band of ‘Siblings’ to make an EP about ‘brothers’? Well, excuse the pun, but seriously, the newcomer British quartet makes blood relations sound cool in last year’s My Brother EP. Though only containing three radio-sized tracks, each one is jam-packed with that ambient folk vibe which haunts their influences, such as Bon Iver and The Shins.

Mason James: So I Pressed Record

Knoxband: Emerging From The Shadows

For a mere side project, Knoxband easily impresses with its eerie and quiet electronic/post rock/diy touch. Spearheaded by Vru Patel, the outfit first came out back in 2005. Combining a host of musical influences, the album is filled with a variety of genres; all packed into a tight, sonically pleasing sound that easily lets listeners drift into the unknown world.

And as you might expect this isn’t a baseball simulation as it is full of crazy levels, power ups and controls that are easy to handle. Even if you don’t know much about the intricacies of baseball, you’ll be able to pick this up quickly.

Boeboe‘s El Dorado is an EP that is as bouncy and nerve jangling as a speeding in a stolen Porsche. Whether that’s your idea of fun or not, no one could ever resist dancing to this EP. Feel Me is dominated with beats that would make you succumb into night-lights of partying and adventure.
