Electronic Arts (EA) has released a free download of the original Command & Conquer Red Alert on their web site as part of the celebration of its 13th anniversary as a way of marketing their upcoming release Command & Conquer Red Alert 3.

Yes, you can also get Red Alert 2 for free… as long as you pre-order Red Alert 3. Pretty smart way to market their new game right?

For now, if you have not had the chance to even play Red Alert 1, we encourage you to download it, try it, and share it at your heart’s contempt on FrostWire. I for one, played this game when it first came out until I could no more, it’s a truly entertaining live strategy game you won’t have enough off, I bet you’ll love it.

    I believe you need an ISO so you can mount in a virtual disc drive. Check download dot com for some going to figure it out soon once they are done downloading my self going to try to use daemon tools see how that works for it.

    I am running windows 7 with 64 bit and no matter what i do it tells me i need a verstion for the 64bit… I dont know what to do is there any way i can get this to work….I had it on my old comp then got a new one and i cant seem to figure why i cant find some where to tell me where to find it or how to get it to work… if someone could please help I would really like to get this working miss the game.

    Red alert in not compatable with 64-bit versions of windows 7, tried my best to get it running but to no avail. the game was not made to run on 64-bit and never will.

    that shouldn’t happen. Windows 64-bit is able to run 32-bit software, if you check the c:WindowsSystemWow64 folder (or something like that) there’s an entire copy of Windows 32-bit which runs virtualized, it has it’s own registry, file system access,etc.

    In theory you should be able to run it.

    downloaded and uncompressed with winzip. Can i even play this on Windows 7. It says in the installation instructions it can be played on windows 95 or xp.

    I tried downloading it at first, and it worked great, and then I made the mistake of trying to add Counterstrike and Aftermath, and it all collapsed, and now I can’t even get the orginal to play. I need help. Any ideas?.

    Do not download on 7 or vista 64 bit . You also need ISO to run it like daemon tool .
