The 10-track 2014 label sampler kicks off with Gethsemane‘s Dry The River. This folk rock ensemble features soothing male vocals caressed by slow-phasing rock strings.

Lauren Hoffman: Becoming the Secret Storm

Alternative rock songstress, Lauren Hoffman, puts together a stellar collection of her old and new tracks before she changes her screen name to The Secret Storm. In Becoming the Secret Storm, Lauren treats us with eight impeccable pieces that channels back the ’90s fashion of grungy guitars and female confessionals.

Major Major: Major Major

Anthemic bravado sampled with creative melodies define Major Major’s sound—a formula reminiscent of Muse’s lovably unlovable music and Radiohead’s self-loathing. Still, as an indie act that covers thumping beats and striking guitar riffs, it’s an album that will strike a chord with the pop/rock set, despite the minimal variation in terms of theme or mood with each song.

Jars of Clay: NoiseTrade Eastside Manor Sessions

Jars of Clay fans can celebrate as our favorite alternative rock band releases a bare-boned NoiseTrade Eastside Manor Sessions for free download. The collection features five tracks sang by the band live. First stop is Age of Immature, where Dan Haseltine’s crisp voice serenades our ears accompanied with soothing melodies from a violin. With soft strings and quirky mandolin, the track exudes an air of serenity and balanced energy.

TW Walsh: Songs of Pain and Pleasure

TW Walsh is not exactly a newbie. Aside from being the only other original member of the band < Pedro the Lion (the other being frontman David Bazan), he has also made a name for himself as a producer. He is known for being prolific, proven by mastering over 40 EPs and LPs in a single year. He is a producer to music stalwarts such as Sufjan Stevens, The Mynabirds, and Crystal Skulls. His album Songs of Pain and Leisure is his way of leaving the shadows and taking charge of his own musical career.

Father Figure: People Leave

People Leave is the debut release of Father Figure – a musical act of two people who have been collaborating musically for years. Composed of Sean Steinmetz and Matthew Babenko, both sharing vocals and guitar duties, and are both from Brookhaven, Pennsylvania.

Ready Set Records: Here, Hitty Hitty

Recently named as one of the ‘9 record labels you should know about’ by Nashville Lifestyles, Ready Set Records, an independent record label, releases their most exciting collection yet titled Here, Hitty Hitty. The album features a pleasurable mix of old favorites and new tracks from a promising list of artists such as Trent Dabbs, Sugar + The Hi-Lows, Elenowen, Young Summer, and KID.

Pyre: My Goodness

Seattle-based trio of Joel Schneider (guitar, vocals), Andy Lum (drums) and Cody Votolato (bass) aka My Goodness treats fans with Pyre, a four-track that spins alternative rock to the core. My Goodness opens with a bang in Young Turks. Get energized with sharp-edged riifs and textured vocals as a jungle of bass and drums vibrates within your ears.
