NazcarNation: Dynazty EP

NazcarNation isn't really a band about racing or anything like that, instead they're an electronic indie pop chillwave trio that creates pulsating and catchy tracks. Founded in 2008 by Chris Wargo and Craig Robert Smith, the band first started out back in LA. Drummer/multi-instrumentalist, Mark Balane, soon joined in and they ended up recording most of the tracks on the EP. Skillfully fusing hip hop, ambient, and electronica; theirs songs have a midtempo chill out beat that's easy on the ears.

Bike Race Free

Bike Race Free from publisher Top Free Games is unique among racers. You compete against the clock to complete a track. The time you put in determines how many stars you will get (3 is the maximum). It isn’t easy because the tracks have loops and chasms. It’s best to think of it as a racing / physics-based platformer game. There are similar games like this on PCs. If you have played those before, you’ll feel right at home here. Bike Race Free has 4 unique worlds each with 8 tracks. The worlds have themes (savanna, arctic, tundra etc). The different settings offer various challenges.

Nation Ruckus: The Pre-Tape

Gotta admit, how many hip hop rap groups do you know from Canada? If you answered one or two or maybe none, then here's a great act to check out: Nation Ruckus. The trio is a hip hop collective made up of "rapper Milk-E Fresh, beat-maker Quality and DJ WiM." Taking a cue from groups like The Beastie Boys, Outkast and even The Roots; the boys spin their own rhymes while creating luscious and catchy beats that anyone can enjoy. The Pre-Tape contains 11-tracks that serve as a prelude to their upcoming album. It's available for free and meant for anyone interested in checking out their sound.

BigOven

Big Oven app shows why mobile food / drink apps are superior to traditional recipe books. This app by BigOven.com comes with over 250,000 entries, which is why it is also called 250,000 Recipes. Fortunately, the program has a robust search engine. The search feature is very flexible. You can look for specific food. It can generate random recipes if you want to try something different. You can also find out what other users are preparing.

Mathemagic: II

Mathemagic likes to record fuzzy pop music that you'll most likely want to get lost in when you're having one of those challenging days. Their music is both hallucinatory and engaging, making you want to simply float away as you take in each strum of the distorted guitars or listen to the zoned-out vocals. II is the latest release from the dreampop Canadian trio. Despite being relative unknowns, they have produced a beautiful record filled with 11 tracks that mesmerize its audience from start to finish.

Archer

Created by Lucky Games, Archer brings the excitement of archery into your Windows Phone. If you have never tried archery before, the sport probably doesn’t seem much. It’s actually thrilling and Lucky Games has done a good job bringing it to life. The basic gameplay of course, has you shooting arrows with a bow. It’s quite challenging (and fun) to try and hit the targets. Your goal is to score as many points as possible under 20 seconds. If you hit the bull’s eye, you will get extra time.

Notational Velocity

Notational Velocity is a note taking app. There are plenty of these for the Mac, but this note taker has got a lot of positive features. Aside from is syncing capability, Notational Velocity is also very simple to use. Created by Zachary Schneirov, it is one of the most popular open source programs for the Mac OS.

Atupa: QuatribaRap

You don't really need to know a particular language in order to enjoy music. As trite as it sounds, music is a universal language. It communicates through emotions and sounds. Atupa's sound is one such example of music transcending the barriers of language. Even if you don't understand a shred of what the boys are rapping about, you're still in for a good listen. QuatribaRap was released last July 2012 and it's currently offered absolutely free over at the group's BandCamp page.

Goodmorning: Soul Monitor

Goodmorning might seem like a forgettable name for a band/musician but the sound is definitely something that won't be easily forgotten. The person behind the music is actually just one-man, Eric Slyter. Soul Monitor is a side project for the singer since he's also a member of the band, Murakami. The album contains 11-tracks, some of which were songs he started recording back in November 2010. Combining a mix of bedroom pop, indie and alternative, his songs capture a sincerity and warmth listeners can easily enjoy.
