Kowalskiy is an independent Scottish music blog that specializes in compiling free music and releasing them into free EPs. The name is derived from the infamous character played by Marlon Brando in A Streetcar Named Desire, a 1947 film about culture clashes. As its name suggest, EP#13, is the 13th EP released from the music blog. It gathers 5 tracks from different, very talented local artists. Exploring different genres, the short EP features songs that range from alternative grunge to indie pop and even a Scottish acoustic folk track. Die Pretty: Battle Over Brooklyn

Battle Over Brooklyn is the product of pop punk band, Die Pretty. The foursome only started about 2 years ago (2009) but they're definitely wasting no time getting their music together and spreading the word. They've already released a short EP titled, Bittersweet. This was released in Europe via Unconform Records and helped win the band a solid following overseas. With Battle Over Brooklyn, the band is looking to expand and maybe win over more people to their brand of upbeat pop punk. Soaring through the scene with a good mix of pop, punk, alternative and rock; Die Pretty seems to have what it takes to make more than an impression in the music world.

The Appreciation Post: Work?/?Sleep EP

With a penchant for power pop and synth punk beats, The Appreciation Post is bringing in tons of energy with their upbeat sound. The Boston quartet has been around since 2005 and have shared the stage with awesome acts such as Smoking Popes, Mayday Parade, and Anberlin to name a few. Work/Sleep is the third release from the crew and hauls in power pop into play. Their previous records include, Brighter Sides (2006) and Leftovers (2010). The latter was produced by Marc McClusky who's worked with bands like Bad Religion and even indie favorite, Weezer. Armed with catchy beats and tongue-in-cheek lyrics, it's a compilation that can easily become a staple in any college punk rockers room.

Tsars: Whispers EP

Fairly new in the indie music world, Tsars only got together early this year. Considering the short time, the guys have managed to release two compilations. Whispers EP is their first official debut and contains 6 tracks bordering on indie alternative to a floaty Brit hipster sound. Their sound is reminiscent of lazy hipster rock and makes me think of The Cribs only more melancholic. Made up of Alexi Mcnulty Bakas (Vocals/ Guitar), Corey Eyres (Guitar/ B.Vocals), Ross Powley (Bass/ B.Vocals) and Lawrence Artitzone (Drums/ B.Vocals.) They've been playing around together in different bands before deciding to form this one.

Asalto Al Parque Zoologico: Asalto Al Parque Zoologico EP

Asalto Al Parque Zoologico EP is the self titled release from relative newcomers, Asalto Al Parque Zoologico. This eclectic noise pop electronic band will certainly impress if you love music like this. The songs are interesting on their own but when coupled with sweet feminine vocals and a cool beat; you have a great bunch of tracks worth checking out. This Argentinian band first hit the waves back in 2008 and since then have easily climbed onto the music ladder in their native country. This 5 track EP was a result of recording, mixing, editing and performing for over a year. It's a solid compilation that's definitely worth listening to.

D’Lyfa Reilly: Sewing Seeds

Creating his own mark in the hip hop scene, D'Lyfa Reilly is a young rapper from Machester, UK. Heavily influenced by life and the various people surrounding him, the artist creates a mix of rap and trip hop sprinkled with moody beats and lyrics. D'Lyfa is also co-founder of Red IQ, a hip hop group out of Manchester. As a solo artist, you can expect plenty of laid-back beats, solid rhythms and trippy sounds all over his tracks. Most of it are pretty likable especially if you like British infused hip hop. Sewing Seeds is actually a compilation of tracks the artist recorded and released between 2009 and 2010.

Warpaint: Demos

Warpaint is a shoegaze, experimental rock oufit from LA. The band has undergone quite a lot of lineup changes, including stints by actress Shannyn Sossamon and Pepper's current guitar player, Josh Klinghoffer. The group has received quite a bit of attention ever since their formation back in 2004. To date, they have grazed the covers of prominent magazines like NME and THE FLY. Although most of the band's records are available for sale, you can download individual songs from their Demos compilation for free. These 5 songs embody a raw, sonic psychedelic sound that 's characteristic of the group's style. By early next year, the group will be actively touring Auckland, Australia and the UK in promotion of their latest record, The Fool. For the meantime, get a feel for the group by listening to this free record.

Adveniat Hiems’ “Loki” – a free metal EP

Adveniat Hiems is an ambient black metal band that dishes out short concept albums inspired by northern mythology and folktales. “Loki,” Adveniat Hiems’ new EP, is named after a shapeshifter in Norse myths. The group is with the net label Ekleipsi. They are not as loud and “noisy” as other metal groups, and they do not blow off my eardrums. I think they are quite merciful despite an anagram of their name, invade atheism. I actually like the fiery combination of their drums and guitars. What I really like about Adveniat Hiems, though, is their choice to stick to concepts that are close to me – myths and legends.

Inward Eye – 4 songs full of passion for high-voltage and rebellious rock style

Bring out those funky electric guitars and start the head bang, Inward Eye gives back to their fans through their debut EP. Inward Eye EP is all about rocking the house with a classic rock sound, which struck other musicians to the side. The EP consists of 4 hard rocking songs, “Shame,” “Blind Paranoia,” “You Know I Know,” and “Times They Aren’t Changing.” Inward Eye is composed of the Erickson brothers: Dave (vocals/bass), Kyle (guitar/vocals), and Anders (drums). Under the influence of several rock gods, they do know what it means to play the instruments and sing their powerful compositions enough to blow rock enthusiasts away.
