World Builder

World Builder – a strange man builds a world using holographic tools for the woman he loves

The film starts with hologram images up in the air, with a man lying down, flipping over these images with his finger. On his right arm is a digitized timer, projecting 59:59 – a second less than an hour for him to do what he’s got to do. “World Builder” is an award-winning romantic science fiction that was written, directed, and produced by Bruce Branit, a visual effects connoisseur well-known for co-creating “405” with Jeremy Hunt. For about nine minutes, “World Builder” will take you on a journey into a virtual world where all emotions are profound and for real. One man builds a world, one woman takes a little stroll, and the rest is for the creative imagination of the audience. The film was created with Newtek LightWave3D, EyeOn Digital Fusion, Adobe Photoshop and Premiere, and Dell Computers. Kudos to Randy Skach and Jason Sartain for a neat work on the musical score and music production, respectively.

Archon Defender – award-winning 3D animation film by David Krupicz

The 3D animation film Archon Defender is a one-man project by David Krupicz, who completed the film by working on second hand computers during his spare time within three years. The other people involved in the movie are only the voice talents, who Krupicz found with the help of a radio station. I did not know what to expect from an hour-long animation film that is a product of one man's creative input, from the story to the visuals, to the music, and everything else that needs to be creatively integrated into a film. Perhaps if I personally knew the filmmmaker, I would have had an idea that it would be good, but since I didn't, I was simply awed.

The Wintress

The Winstress is a 26-minute suspense-psychological thriller about an abused wife, Liz (Stephanie Johnson), who recently discovers that she can stand up for herself, and she is strong enough to face her fears, the worst of which is her violent husband, Sam (Heath). The film's writer and director, Bill Everman, also stars in the film as Mike, a longtime friend of Heath. It seems Mike is very close to the couple, and so it is easy to see why he decides to drop by at their place when Heath didn't show up at work one day. As tight as their bond may be, Mike, Liz and Heath are only about to discover the true depth of their friendship.

Fresh Body Shop: Draw The Circle

Draw The Circle is the latest album from Fresh Body Shop, the same French artist that gave us the impressive “The Ugly Army.” Fresh Body Shop still rocks and maintains its funky sound that is such a treat even to those who are rather ambivalent about indie rock. There are five tracks in this album, all of which features commendable lyrics and excellent rhythm. However, while the songs are great and really pleasant to the ears, the mix could use a little more improvement so the instruments would not drown the otherwise great vocals.

“Nasty Old People” – free full feature movie by Hanna Sköld

The film's central character is Mette (Febe Nilsson), a rather callous and rebellious 19-year-old neo-Nazi gang member, whose day job is taking care of old and sick people from whom death seems to approach way too slowly each long and painful day. The irony in Mette's icy demeanor and her day-to-day responsibilities creates an interesting series of possibilities that are both amusing and provocative. Mette eventually rediscovers herself and her own restrained longing for love and acceptance as her life becomes tightly intertwined with the varied lives of the old people that she interacts with everyday. They have all become characters in a unique fairy tale world, and as she realizes this, she is changed forever.

“Greatest It” – a free ‘Best Of’ compilation from six great netlabels

"Greatest It" is a brilliant collaborative output of six cool netlabels who decided to work together to dish out a compilation that celebrates free music with each label's crowd of fans. Agreeing that by working together, they can gather up their audiences and introduce themselves to a bigger virtual crowd in the process, the six netlabels came up with 18 chill out, funky rock tracks to showcase some of the best free music ever released for free online.

Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery

Anne of Green Gables is one of the most famous books in Canadian literature, written by Lucy Maud Montgomery and published it in 1908. It’s a story Anne Shirley, an imaginative and chatty freckled 11-year-old girl who was mistakenly given for adoption to two unmarried siblings (Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert) who wanted to adopt a young boy to help them in their farm.

Just to Get a Rep

Graffiti arouses different reactions from different folks across all ages and social classes. Well done graffiti easily gets a nod of approval by the sheer sight of its stunning explosion of colors & innovative design. But these wall writings are also frowned upon mostly by people who associate this wall art to untamed behavior, violence and even crime.
