Will Stratton: Vile Bodies EP

Will Stratton is a folk singer and songwriter that's currently based in New Jersey. Creating beautiful sets of indie folk music, it's hard not to get lost in his sweet guitars and vocals. Stratton is no stranger in the music industry. He's released several records including his 2005 debut album, What The Night Said, which featured Sufjan Stevens on oboe. This was followed by 2009's No Wonder and a set of free, downloadable EP's including this one. Vile Bodies is an EP composed of 5 tracks and was released as a free download back in September 2009.

Chris Koza: The Dark, Delirious Morning

Chris Koza’s The Dark, Delirious Morning should be what the sea is to summer, or flowers are to spring: a landmark release. Based in Minneapolis, Chris Koza is an enviable singer/songwriter with three albums that never turned mediocre. Either a solo artist, a duo with longtime guitar player Peter Sieve, or with his band Rogue Valley (which had its own special appearance on FrostClick), Koza steps into the spotlight fully-loaded with precise craftsmanship and talent.

MJMJ Records: Back in Bizniss

MJMJ Records is a small "cassette label" that love to deliver eclectic, home spun music to their audience. The label is made up of friends Andy and Charlie. Both are currently based in LA and building up the record from scratch after suffering through some setbacks. Back in Bizniss, as the title implies, is a celebratory compilation of sorts. After a near shutdown, MJMJ (Two Michael Jordans) is moving forward and continuing their foray into the indie music world by creating a great compilation. It's filled with music from various indie bands and musicians that are worth checking out.

Karma Tree: Sleepium

Karma Tree mostly sounds like a Swedish version of Vampire Weekend. Although occasionally they venture out and mix alternative and sugar pop, it's hard to deny that the boys have a knack for the indie sound. Sleepium is the full length debut for the trio. It was recorded late 2009 and released the following year. Much of the songs on here showcase the band's penchant of mixing everything up, they can easily go from pop with bright twinkly guitars, to heavy metal sounding riffs and even boyband sounding beats.

Ghastly Menace: Pitcairn

Although indie bands are abundant these days, occasionally you'll find a group that deserves all the hype they're getting. Ghastly Menace is one of these groups. Composed of Andrew Schroeder and Christopher Geick (formerly of They Found Me, They Named Me;) the duo set their sights in creating a wonderfully melodic and entertainingly sweet indie pop band. Pitcairn is their first EP. It contains 5 songs that clock in at less than 3 minutes each but filled with some gorgeous and catchy beats that makes you want to leave it on loop for a long time.

Evan Uhlmann: Blue Lipstick

Evan Uhlmann has a knack for creating fun pop songs, complete with cheeky lyrics and a catchy melody. It's the type of songs you won't mind playing even if you aren't big on pop music at all. Born in Chicago, Uhlmann now calls New York City his home. While studying in Wales, he was under the tutelage of Ray Davies, among the founding members of the British band, The Kinks. Just last year in September, he released his first debut record and called it, Blue Lipstick. Combining pop with acoustic indie rock guitar work, the record contains songs that are playful and with good composition.

Balthazar B and the Beatitudes: Like Shrapnel

Balthazar B and the Beatitudes might seem like an odd name choice for a band but there's definitely nothing odd about their sound. Creating a beautiful mix of indie folk and rock, Balthazar B and his ever-revolving cast is bent on sharing their gorgeous melodic sound to anybody who wants to listen. The group was founded and fronted by Paris based musician, Baltazar B. To complete his sound, he enlists the help of friends from various walks of life, some of them doctors others "geeks and religious scholars." This helps create a fresh menagerie of sound that's a certain delight to listen to. Like Shrapnel is a short EP that was recorded in pockets of time between Paris and London.

Germany Germany: Last Summer

Falling largely within the pleasing electronic-chillwave framework, Germany Germany’s Last Summer is a fresh musical treat to the indie camp. Drew Harris, better known as Germany Germany is an independent musician from Victoria, Canada. Released last October 27, 2010, Last Summer offers eight tracks of perfectly enunciated music that encapsulates a nostalgic summer.

Green River Ordinace: GRO FREE Sampler

Green River Ordinance (GRO) looks like their ready to steer the wheel to stardom. The pop-rock group composed of John Jenkins, Jamey Ice, Joshua Wilkerson, Geoff Ice, Denton Hunker have greatly evolved from their childhood in Forth Worth, Texas to the release of their latest album Under Fire and their current North American tour. The seven-track GRO Free Sampler offers a sneak peak on the band’s pleasant offerings.
