Curious – The Intimate Stranger

German alternative goth band promises a good haunting. For many people, The Cure was the "be all and end all" of the Gothic rock scene. Curious, however, aims to make their own mark in the genre. Almost by foresight, Curious initially traversed their musical dreams by becoming a cover band of The Cure. Although they subsequently created their own music, it doesn't take a genius to see where their influence came from. The Intimate Stranger includes 10 tracks that powerfully channels The Cure during their Disintegration days.

No Face by Redmind – metal mayhem from France

Unique French rock metal filled with thrashy guitars and loud vocals. Despite the lack of information on this band online, there is an abundance of rock and roll in Redmind. No Face is filled with 6 tracks that embody what this band is about. Their music is a mixture of rock neometal with speedy guitar licks, growling vocals and heavy drums to match. Redmind's No Face might sound typical and the band might not break any boundaries with their music, but they do manage to pull through and create a solid sounding demo.

The Walt – Something We Did Not Have

Solid indie pop rock band that incorporates shouty vocals with dancy rhythm. The Walt is the product of former band We vs. Death, Kismet and Dawn of Awakening. Something we did not have is their latest EP and a mixture of loud indie punk rock sound that gets anybody up and about. Something we did not have is the quartet's first EP after playing for 4 years together. Recorded under indie label, Beep! Beep! Back Up The Truck, all 5 tracks are available for free download under a creative commons license. If you are into plenty of head bobbing and loud indie/punk rock, take a listen and enjoy.

Helldorados – Just Rock

Hardcore rock and roll that spells out what it means to have balls. Okay, so maybe I'm just a sucker for bands that don't take themselves too seriously, but still make fun, kickin' music. Helldorados is definitely this type of band, hence, falling for them is not very difficult. Just Rock is a compilation of 11 tracks that are as rock and roll as can be. It's a mix of late 80s glam rock, with the chant vocals, and guitar licks. Although it might not be "spectacular," the album is good fun to listen to especially if you want to pass away the time.

Paul Lisak & After The Ice – It Happens All the Time

Mashing old school rock with today's synth pop rock, tied with engaging vocals to match. Paul Lisak and After the Ice is definitely a band that's worth waiting for. Channeling both mainstream and indie at the same time, they reach a niche that few ever make. Their mix of psychedelia and indie rock along with easily likable rhythms and beats makes them an easy band to like. It Happens All the Time is the band's debut EP and comprises 4 solid tracks that embody what the band is capable of.

Angels & Airwaves give you Love – a free album download

I feel I should preface this review by saying that most Nu-Rock bores me. I kind of got over my rocker-girl phase as soon as I got out of high school, and to be honest I find that most modern rock bands don't really offer much I haven't heard before. That's why it surprises me so much that I absolutely love Love, the much-hyped brand-new album from alternative rockers Angels & Airwaves.

Mountain Mirrors “The Immortal Deadbeats EP” – Psychedelic Acoustic Rock from Massachusetts

Dark, Zen-like, melancholic acoustic rock from the backwoods of Massachusetts. Released in April 2009, The Immortal Deadbeats is the fourth album from eerie rock group Mountain Mirrors. Brainchild of Jeff Sanders while incarcerated in some deep dark wooden forest reminiscent of Tim Burton's Wonderland; Mountain Mirrors is a collective collaboration with various other artists. All lending their talents, expertise and idiosyncrasies into creating this engaging 4 track EP. With a penchant for the offbeat, The Immortal Deadbeats EP is an endearing collection and a promising taste of what to expect from the group in the near future.
