xContacts Free

Here we have another great app for the iPhone and this one takes the most used feature i.e Contacts, to the next level. xContacts is a free utility app, that does more than just adding extra details. Developed by AppFactor, the same people who brought us iDownload PLUS; xContacts does not fall short in any department as far as productivity, usability and features are concerned. The app is largely designed with a user in mind and how he/she use their contact book on a daily basis.

Strange Mangers: Strange Mangers

Quiet, post rock group from Boston, Strange Mangers, finally releases their melancholic and hypnotic self-titled debut compilation. Listening to the band's sound, you'll capture a whiff of melodic guitars, coupled with hazy vocals and an expansive range of sounds that seem to take you from dreamland, reality, and back. Although the band is still new and there's hardly anything about them online, their sound is enough to convince listeners that their post rock sound is worth checking out and listening to. Their album is currently available for free at BandCamp.

Joanna Gruesome EP – indie noise goodness with a touch of the 90s

If you're expecting something loud and chaotic from this group, then you're in luck. Joanna Gruesome may not be as "gruesome" as their adopted moniker but they certainly know how to be loud, energetic, sweet and unpredictable. Describing themselves as having a "twee" sound, the group knows how to infuse their oftentimes chaotic ensembles with some beautiful and sweet pop music. This Cardiff crew has a knack for making lofi indie basement rock sound so good. This EP is a few years old since it was released back in 2003, but it still shines like new and fits perfectly with today's music.

FriendSheep

Delivering just the right dose of fun, excitement and spice, FriendSheep revamps the well-known character of the big bad wolf. This shockingly good animation by students of Valencia-based PrimerFrame, prances along the elements of fairytales, unpredictable humor and the prey-predator relationship. It has already garnered a lot of recognition including a recent selection for the 2012 Goya.

Chasing Mars: EP

There's a new comer in cool indie camp and it seems like their ready to stay for a while. Just like it's galactic-sounding name, Chasing Mars' new EP offers an out-of-this-world musical experience in rich proportions. Hailing from Chicago, the band is composed of Neven Armic, Sean Goes, Sam Brown and Justin Schmidt. Describing their sound as the bastard love child of The Flaming Lips, Radiohead and Coldplay, this independent group will conveniently fill any electro-rock void.
