Poison IV: Fly Society

In this day and age where the feminine figure is starting to establish its roots on various branches of this male-fueled world, it’s refreshing to hear them flip conventions too; that, as beautifully executed by Poison IV. Megan Hamilton, who prefers to be called ‘Poison IV’, is not to one to get stuck on one genre. Despite a predominantly “hip-hop-ish†packaging, she transitions from one style to another as she pleases, not minding that she’s dipping into alternative pop, rap, and R&B as well.

The Suits: Navy

Better get your “suits†on, because we’re in for a lot of good tunes! Electro-rock acts are in so much abundance nowadays, you can’t really tell which is which. Luckily, for The Suits, their sound is distinct and sonic enough to stand up among their peers.

Mountain Oasis Festival Sampler 2013

Something is happening today. A number of great artists are coming together to give you a taste of some of the most amazing contemporary electronic sounds, for full 3 days. Sounds great, right? Unfortunately since not all of us can appear in Asheville, NC in person, seeing it all live is a problem. Fortunately the good folks over at The Mountain Oasis Electronic Music Summit released a nice 11 track sampler to give us a taste in the comfort of our own homes.

Wild Kids: Love Matters

‘Love matters’ so much that it has driven Wild Kids to come up with a fun debut EP. The Winnipeg-based duo, composed of Devin Frezzi on vocals and percussion and Sid Bellinger on guitars and bass, recently released the pompous collection Love Matters, and it sounds like 80s pop set to dubstep.

Wolfgun: Projections

Wolfgun‘s latest release entitled Projections transforms experimental electronic music into a livelier style, incorporating world musical elements, futuristic melodies, and a whole lot of funk.

Tyler Walker: Spacefaring Male

Spacefaring Male, an album produced and mixed by Tyler Walker, is the marriage in music by sophisticated jazz and funky geek sounds. There is undeniable harmony in this union although there are a few off (tolerable) moments every now and then. The image in the album cover says it all: a man with a glass of olive cocktail and suited up for the outer space. It’s not a mix that you see daily, but it’s interesting enough for you to take a look and check.

Karbidangeln Mit Aurica – Glacial Series

Glacial Series by Karbidangeln Mit Aurica is a combination of creatively powerful beats and soothing vocals. All of the tracks in Glacial Series were written and produced by Berlin-based Aurica Kurtuschin, who also lent her beautiful voice to complete this collection. Aurica’s netlabel Electrolyt describes the album tracks as, “the finest living room electronica with elements of synth pop, drone and industrial, as well as ambient, post-punk and experimental.”

Schilli-San – Smooth Situations

It's Saturday night, and you're feeling a bit too adult to go out clubbing until dawn, but way too young to stay at home and do nothing. Smooth Situations is the perfect kind of music for a weekend full of adventures and secrets - it has a laid-back groove that invites you into its mystery, without giving too much away. This is great news for people who like dance music, without necessarily wanting to dance all the time.
