N (Metanet Software)

One of the most addictive and sometimes frustrating game you can ever play, N is an award winning title that involves tons of jumping, climbing, running and all those other cool ninja skills. The game was created by Metanet Software back in 2005 and won the audience choice award for the Independent Games Festival that same year. Today, the game has spawned a console (multiplayer) version for the Xbox Live Arcade, the Nintendo DS and the PSP titled, N+. N was originally offered as a flash game but you can download it now onto your computer. There's a version available for the Mac, Linux and of course, Windows system.

Glass Tower 3

If Tetris makes you crave arcade-gaming, but the graphics are nothing more than an eye-sore, its time to play Glass Tower 3 on the iOS platform. The game is all about blocks with a new & fresh twist. Unlike other games in this genre, you have to break some blocks and you have to save some blocks in order to win the game. It is also based on a physics based engine, which makes it more entertaining, challenging and unique to play.

Black Lodge (Jak Locke)

Black Lodge is the much talked about videogame homage to the wildly popular Lynchian cult classic, Twin Peaks. If you're a fan of the series, you should be all over this game. It's a beautiful piece that essentially captures the craziness, mystery and magnetic storyline of the original tv show. The game was created by Jak lodge and features all the goodness the original storyline has to offer plus a bit more. With amazing Atari 2600 style, the game is playable for both Mac and PC. It also comes with a manual that the developer encourages you to read first before starting.

iSplume

If you're looking for a different type of balloon busting game, iSplume might just be the game to try out next. Originally offered for sale, the game is now available as a free download on the Mac App Store. This cool puzzle game from Flash Bang Studios has gained quite a lot of fans since its release. Unlike regular puzzle bobble types, this one makes use of quirky little creatures called splumes. The objective is a bit similar to the original though. You have to position at least three similar colored splumes in order for them to pop. Of course, there are additional sets of rules that help make this one a little bit more interesting than its counterparts.

Wormholes

Wormholes is an iOS game that will keep many brain-freak gamer hooked onto their iOS device for hours. What really appeals to many game fans about Wormholes is the uncanny resemble it shares with Valve's (maker of Half-Life and Half-Life 2) Portal. The game is said to be developed by a fan and has nothing to do with the original Valve Portal, but due to its very close resemblance to the Valve Portal PC and console version, Valve has directed the developer of Wormholes to offer the app for Free. The game has numerous 3D puzzles to be solved in the underground chambers. Your weapon for survival and mayhem is the A978 Wormhole GUN, that helps you to create wormholes within your environment and cross levels. What adds up to the entire gameplay is the need of logical use of cubes and buttons around the various parts of the levels that enable you to open doors and helping in bringing you to the finish point.

Keys of a Gamespace

Keys of a Gamespace might seem like an odd title for a video game but it's actually very appropriate for this one. Developed by a group of people from the University of Metz in France, the game explores a new take on gaming by using it as a tool for gaining understanding by putting you in someone else's shoes. The game sees you in the footsteps of a man trying to make sense of his past. Your job is to help him put together his memories by solving puzzles in each level. Each step gets you closer to unraveling what he has kept hidden in his subconsious. It's an intriguing game that's equipped with a unique storyline and an interesting gameplay.

Brain melting games are always fun to try out. Take Zentomino HD for instance. Based on Pentomino, Little White Bear Studios brings in this ancient puzzle game straight to your shiny iPad & iPhone screens. Zentomino lets you "achieve zen" by positioning puzzle pieces onto a given shape in the middle of the screen. However, you have to make sure that none of the puzzles overlap or go beyond the designated areas. The game is quite simple and perfect if you want to get away from all those action packed shooter games you've been playing for awhile.

Pumpkins vs. Monsters is a free Android game that will easily win your heart. Hailed by many as among the most addictive Android games ever released, it's certainly a game worth looking into. Developed by Runner Games Studios, this is the same team that has created other popular Android games like Doodle Dash, Tiny Robots and Alien Invasion just to name a few. For Pumpkins vs. Monsters, the game pits you against a hoard of monsters. Pretty much, your pumpkin garden and pumpking throwing skills is your best defense against keeping these monsters at bay.

Stratus (Richard Edwards)

Another entry into what's now become a mecca of indie gaming goodness: Stratus is one of the hundreds of entries to the Ludum Dare game competition. Created by Richard Edwards, the game features interesting pixel style artwork and a pretty cool gameplay. For the uninitiated, Ludum Dare Competition has been around for years now. It's an event where independent gamers create an entire game in as little as 48 hours. Each game revolves around a certain theme that's announced before the start of the competition. For this one, more than 500+ entries have already been submitted, among them this cool puzzler from Edwards.
