PeaZip

PeaZip is a powerful but easy to use open source archiving tool. There are many free compression utilities out there, but few are as robust as this one. In many ways, it is more powerful than some paid archive apps. The program is user friendly. Thanks to its drag and drop support, a user just has to drag a zip file on the interface and it will be decompressed. The archiving screen pops open when you drop a file there. All the basic functions are labeled clearly so new users will have no trouble using the program. File browse tools and function buttons make it a snap to add folders and files.

Checkers Free

The game of checkers has been around for a long time, and made their way into desktops laptops and smartphones. Checkers Free from Optime Software is one of the best looking ones for the iPhone yet. The design is simple and clean, something that has become a trademark of the company. Controls are intuitive; tap a piece to select and tap to where you want to put it. The game has an undo button in case you move in the wrong area. The options menu allows you to turn the sound effects on or off, use forced jumps or not and many others.

Radio Fallout: Mondegreen EP

Radio Fallout managed to achieve quite a feat considering they've only been in the industry more or less 5 years. The following months saw the trio of, Jonathan Palmer, Dan Walker and Caleb Scates, pursue their careers vigorously. Yellowbirddd: Missing

Liam McCormack is the man behind the ethereal indie folk outfit, Yellowbirddd. The moniker is a bit unusual but it does lend a nice touch to the sound that he creates. Armed with an acoustic guitar, a slight reverb and some endearingly sweet sound; Missing serves as a record to get lost into after a bad breakup or maybe if you simply need a breather from all the loud music . This is the third compilation from the Brooklyn, New York artist. His previous works include Random & Rare, Summer 2010 tour EP, and Hard Feelings which are all available as a free download over at his BandCamp page.

Metro

Gentle yet compelling, Metro by Jacob Wyatt is a beautiful animation that will take you to surreal worlds and parallel universes. This four-minuter student film at the Bringham Young University shows the adventure of a girl through the city's underground passageway as she follows a mysterious fox that snatched her metro ticket. Wyatt certainly has a handle on his craft. He makes good use of soft tones, watercolor visuals, and subtle pacing to evoke a feel-good and heart warming emotion. The selective framing and composition abstracts adds texture to the short, adding spice to a linear narrative.

Unhappy Free Orc: Broken People EP

With a name like Unhappy Free Orc, you can expect something eclectic and different from this compilation. The band is the brainchild of Marlon Moilanen & Miro Palokallio, they are joined by a group of talented musicians that help create their distinct sound. Broken People EP is a 7-track compilation consisting of songs that didn't make it the group's previous releases. According to the band, they might be "leftovers" but they consider them as among some of their best work.
