Defender

Here we have something special for all fantasy gaming fans on Android. Defender is a game which comes closest to the Final Fantasy franchisee and it does a very good job while at it. As expected, players will need to fight hoards and hoards of enemies to keep the castle safe and protected. Defender was developed by DroidHen, who already have quite a few cute offerings under-their-belt for the Android platform and the kids will surely love their approach towards the development of the game.

Keep Tidy: Basement Mold EP

Keep Tidy is a Vancouver band that will satisfy your craving for hardcore, balls-on rock. With female-led vocals, the band reminds me of a cross between The Distillers and a very loud and uninhibited, Yeah Yeah Yeahs. They are made up of Brett, Dustin, Kyle and Shmoo; most of the members aren't new in the scene. They actually belonged to various other bands in the local Vancouver rock scene before coming together to create this fast paced, loud record that seems to be made up of nothing but a whirlwind of sound.

Android Assistant

Android is largely an open ecosystem and sometimes it seems like too many things are happening there at the same time. The most effective way to know what is going on behind-the-screen is having an Assistant. Yes, we are talking about the Android Assistant with over 17 new features! Developed by Aaron Smith, this app really packs-in a punch with all the bells and whistles. Android smartphones are packed to the gill in terms of memory, RAM, processors, so an app acting as an assistant is a big boon for advanced as well as causal users.

Deplasticoverde

I may not understand full sentences of Spanish but there's something about Deplasticoverde that's quite intriguing and special. Deplasticoverde is a special project spearheaded by Carolina Espinoza. A young Spanish artist that released her debut EP in 2010 under Ponk Records. Shaped by folk and pop influences, the album undulates with beautiful acoustic guitars and sweet singing from the artist. Her songs are simple but they abound with meaningful vocals and some spunky attitude which is enough to make you want to listen even if you have no clue what she's singing about.

Sad Little Men

Created as a thesis film; Sad Little Men is a dramatic story about jealousy and how chance circumstances can create a complicated web of events. The film is a short one, with less than 20 minutes running time and stars Jason Ralph & Will Whatley. Behind the scenes is Samuel Aaron Bennett; doing majority of the work from directing, writing, scoring, shooting and editing. With only $1500 from Kickstarter donations, production was started and a 3-4 day shoot was planned in NYC to create this raw yet compelling short film.

I am Dive: Constellations

I Am Dive is an indie acoustic folk duo made up of Esteban Ruiz and Jose A. Perez. Together they generate a sound that is equal parts melodic, hypnotic and overall, contemplative. Although I Am Dive is a fairly new project, the men behind it aren't exactly newcomers to the industry. Perez has been a guitar player for Blacanova for a long time while Ruiz also serves as the vocals for Renochild and also plays for The Baltic Sea. Together, they create gorgeous music that emanates a string of beautiful melodies, tight songwriting and a clear, polished quality that's perfectly enjoyable.

3G Watchdog

It must be nothing new for smartphone users to happily surf the web, upload pictures on Facebook, Tweet, download apps, stream video on Youtube and the like. What really comes as a shocker is the data bill charged to your account by the service provider after all that friendly fun. Well, your solution lies here in the form of Watchdog 3G. This is probably the most comprehensive data plan manager till date. Developed by Richard Gruet, the developer has done a commendable job with this app and has really helped heavy data users to keep a check on their data traffic. I for myself am a heavy user of this app on my Android.
