Kings of Leon

Pilot Rouge: Helen of Troy

Sometimes, all we want is a fitting return to the easy-to-listen pop rock, where we thank the Greek gods above for bands such as Pilot Rouge. Formed just this 2013, the three-member act, comprised of vocalist Kevin Terry, guitarist Max Welshinger, and keyboardist Allison Louise, pay homage to the mother of all chaos – Helen of Troy – as muse for their debut EP of the same name.

Daniel James: Comfortable Cage

Inspired by indie favorites Bon Iver, Racounters, The Shins, Sufjan Stevens and Kings of Leon, among others; it's easy to make Daniel James your new favorite if you like the music of the artists mentioned. Comfortable Cage flits between blueesy rock one moment and then moody folk rock to the next, entertaining the audience all the way through. The album itself is a couple of years old and was recorded at "ma and pa's house before they destroyed my studio and built a bigger kitchen... " according to the artist.

Whalers

Fun indie pop rock that'll put a perfect cap to your summer. Chumming Around by Whalers is a feel good summer pop rock album that's definitely worth tripping to. Although the production quality is not that good, you can instantly tell just by listening to one track that these guys definitely have a gem up their sleeves. Hopefully, they'll take a cue and record a higher quality version and let us enjoy our last days of summer "chumming around."
