Moscow-based Boris Kostin also known as Restin brings us “Not So Scary,” an EP of ambient music fit for sleepovers and storytelling sessions, wherein the theme is either a little scary-creepy, or somewhat freaky.

Kostin’s EP title seems perfectly appropriate if you would listen to the singles individually. Listening to the entire EP is a different story because this EP could get your imagination going on and on, track after track.

Restin says the music of Akira Yamaoka and Marylin Manson inspire him to play around and create his own brand of music. “Not So Scary” tracks are pretty simple when taken individually, but it is a fine collection of spooky tunes and sound effects as an EP.

If you read children’s stories with a little bit of a scary twist, you should have this EP in your personal archive to spice up your bonding time with your kids. If you are building a playlist of spooky tunes, you should also give the layers and textures in this EP a try. You may just find exactly what you need.

A collection like “Not So Scary” should be included in the playlist for Halloweens, or for a Friday the 13th movie marathon intermission. It may not be apt for daily regular entertainment, but it surely can serve some purpose if you think creatively.
