Gizmo Drive from Arainia Solutions is a device simulator. Designed for Windows machines, it enables you to make hard disk images that are password protected. It uses its own GDRIVE format but it supports a number of other formats which make it a good choice if you use this type of utility a lot.
Gizmo Drive has support for a lot of popular image formats. These include MDF, MDS, CCD, NRG, BIN, VHD and ISO. Any of these formats can be mounted onto any of the virtual devices that the application’s virtual device provides. After an image is mounted, it will show up as a DVD or CD device in Windows Explorer. It may also show up as a hard drive.
With Gizmo Drive you can improve performance when you extract a DVD ROM disc to the ISO and mounted from a hard disk. With these devices you will have an easier time archiving, as other devices can be quite slow. Gizmo Drive can also be used to free up disk space if your disk is clogged by too many files. This program also eliminates the need for having too many discs used for archiving.
Gizmo Drive also has support for VHD file mounting, something that you will need with Microsoft Virtual PC. And since the virtual hard disk can be protected by passwords, your privacy is assured. Also, you can shield your files via its HD images. Other features on the Gizmo Drive are mounting and un-mounting from Windows Shell, command line support and compatibility with different versions of Windows.
